You’ve probably heard the name Sophie Trudeau, best known as the glamorous wife of Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada. But Sophie is a whole lot more than that. In her new book, Closer Together: Knowing Ourselves, Loving Each Other, she candidly shares a lot about her life and struggles. But Sophie has also incorporated the best science and interviewed the leading researchers about how our brain handles life’s biggest challenges-her book tackles everything from mindfulness to the function of the vagus nerve. Her endless hope and practical approach to knowing ourselves is an invitation to curiosity, progress, and inner peace.

I only listened to the first 9 minutes because, yes, a lot of us feel lost and depressed because we don’t know where to FIND much hope anymore, a lot of us are barely surviving and becoming homeless. I’ve already heard the saying of it becomes the wolf you feed. She’s just regurgitating many things I’ve heard before.

I speak fast and listen fast, however... drop it down a notch. Thank you Katie for leveling the field in your approach and tone to attempt to slow it down a smidge.

Would you give God and His provision for you a look see? We are created in His image, he loves you so much. There is life after this time on earth. We make plans for while we are here on earth but then what? All this human striving may work for the short term but there is so much more. I am a 74 year old who has lived and experienced a lot of life and I can’t tell you how the peace I found in Christ has given me such joy and security in knowing my life is secure in Him alone. God bless you in your journey.

As I see it, too many people are so hooked on and obsessed with self-help mumbo jumbo, feelings, woe is me, they want a pity party, stop thinking for themselves. Everything is trauma this and that, woe is me, and using this stuff to excuse terrible behavior. Let's all remember those who survived the horrific abuse during the Holocaust, who went on to live happy, well-adjusted lives. Let me put it this way: I don't care what supposed trauma anyone has gone through. Commit crimes, hurt/harm humans and animals? Prison is waiting. Get the pity party and psychiatrist there.

Yes, Sophie, you have the fundamental idea of the effects that trauma has on ourselves and others as well as how important it is to address our own trauma to have better lives in the modern world; but I'm a little upset to see how privileged this take is, as a lot of our mental health struggles are intergenerational, and can be traced to our socioeconomic conditions. You must agree somewhat, following your separation from our current prime minister, that where his mission started, does not match the work he has done today in Canada. In my opinion, to best research/reiterate present mental health struggles is to understand their roots. You start in this podcast by addressing the effects of the pandemic on Canadian society, a loss of connection, and a heightened feeling of stress among people, but you miss the reasons as to why. Then, you go on to some important factors causing people stress, such as work culture, and having poor gut health with which you suggest we heal our vagus nerve and have a better relationship with food. I think addressing these issues is important, and your solutions were said in good spirits, but I don’t believe these solutions to be a good answer for people. I think you are missing key factors that get in the way, such as how the average person's reality is primarily driven by their economic status, and in a country like Canada, work can take away a lot of free time in order to keep up with this country's cost of living. As a result, the average person might not find the time in their day to utilize these strategies, or if they did use them they still might not feel fulfilled and so I think this is a bandaid to a larger problem, which I believe to be how our countries ease of living is worsening by the day following the pandemic due to recent poor government decisions. I would love for you to expand on this further, with all your knowledge coming from inside, as you have the potential to expand on some great wisdom and knowledge.

we're not allowed to give you the answer because you won't remember it unless you find it yourself and value it as a grand epiphany (.ie., Fentanyl Lethal) like breakfast at Tiffanys (or biff with Chrisco Cringle when the chips are round). Elle Macpherson went to Cornell and got a corn in the canal.

"I know how to make you feel better, I have all the answers, and you will do it my way." No, it's never a conversation. In the end, you always win. Your husband always wins. We peasants are still treated like we are incapable of managing our own lives. You just say it in a more palatable, saccharine manner.

Everyone needs to unsubscribe from Katie Couric she refers to anyone who does not have the same socio-economic status or income potential as her as "anti intellectuals". Which are 95% of her audience.

This book, i have not read, sounds like a self-help, she is applying what she has learned in life how she is going through processes. There is no discussion about her other half. She is smart, very educated and if she can help people move forward. It is about her and only her

That is such a judgement and you do not know what you are talking about. Nobody asked you, you have not read the book and just assume. I suggest you get an education. You are definitely not open, it is not about JT and has nothing to do to do with him.
