I'm so sick of people lying about drugstore products being "watered down with fillers and waxes" along with toxic ingredient fear mongering monetization. Virtually every time this happens the person saying such things has financial gain behind their motive whether they're a stylist, MLM seller, or is selling you their own products that are more expensive but still not that safe or effective. This makes me happy having grown up poor!

Yep. Proves that higher end isn't necessarily better. It always depends on the products. Drug store shampoos and conditioners are not as good as salon/professional versions (I wish that wasn't true but it is LOL) because they use cheaper ingredients, but thats cleansing and conditioning. When it comes to styling our curls it's more about using the right products for our hair type, which takes some experimentation. Also, the technique and tools are super important, but the tools don't have to be high end either. I use a non brand version of the 9 row Denman brush and it beats every brush I have ever used for clumping my curls, including name brand versions.

I've had good results with drugstore shampoo and conditioner! I just don't choose those from any price point that have "free from" claims that pander to clean beauty.

Thank you for doing this! I was curious about Rhiana's line and also if there was any major difference in affordable and high end. This is interesting. I am a mix and match type of person cause I've notice how my curls behave with certain products. Curlsmith is my favorite. A bit pricey but it works! Could you perhaps do a summer care tips video? Or if there's anything that you do that helps with frizz and humidity in summer weather? ❤

Okay bestie. I’m going to need more of these! It would be so fun if you did like “hair routine using only Aussie” or “hair routine using only Shea Moisture” I would looove that!

I love this video however if possible do a comparison of drug store/affordable products that can be purchased in the US or possibly Amazon. We US curly hair gals cannot get your drug store products. Thanks for all your tutorials.

I always feel a little bit guilty about the cheap gel I use on my hair, but I have tried others and that is what works the best. My hair products are all over the map when it comes to price.

@@crystal6811 I use LA looks-the green one, because I use a curl cream, from Aussie or Curlsmith underneath it does not dry my hair out.

Where is the scrunchie from? The slip ones just aren’t as large for us thick hair girls. Also, our hair looks very similar and I wanted to know if you think your hair feels heavy in general lol I’m asking because I see a lot of people do the pineapple as you did in this video for sleeping and you seem to hold up well when I do the pineapple, my hair is very heavy, so it falls out of it without putting it tight scrunchie, and that usually will wreck my styling. So I’m just interested in your experience with that.

Wow, I'm so surprised by the results, especially as I've been thinking of throwing out all of my curly hair products, including shampoo and conditioner, and switching over to all products by Curlsmith. My hair is in bad shape and no longer curls like it used to. I would do anything to have hair like yours! I just don't know how to get my curls back.. 😢

Have you tried clarifying regularly? When i started clarifying, my curls started coming back. I have two kinds. One for hard water and the other is a regular clarifying shampoo. Then use a deep conditioner after clarifying. Maybe that will help? Also as a woman that's close to 40 yrs old I've noticed my hair changed with hormones and or nutrition issues.

@lux_originadventures3259 Thank you so much for reaching out! Yes, I've definitely noticed a big change due to hormones and nutrition. I was diagnosed with crohns disease. I hadn't eaten a meal for about three years as it was so painful. I had severe malnutrition and muscle loss.. and that's when my hair went practically straight! I'd also lost a lot of hair due to my health. Having autoimmune disease has also given me the gift of psoriasis on my scalp. I use a clarifying shampoo thinking that will help, but the following day, my scalp itches so much I make it bleed. I use a deep conditioner for curly hair, but that doesn't seem to be doing much. Due to my crohns, I'm quite restricted on what I can eat, so I rely on topical treatments. I think I will try a clarifying shampoo for hard water, fingers crossed, it will help! I'm so glad to hear that it worked for you because you've given me hope. Thank you so much for your advice, I'm open to any other suggestions! 😊🫶🏽🩷

@missyme2673 I am so sorry you're going through all that! I have alopecia and lost tons of hair the last 3 years due to stress and nutrition deficiency. The worse part is my alopecia got worse with stress and I would stress about my hair loss which caused more hair loss. The gift that kept on giving 🥲... I tried so many things. All in all turns out I also have autoimmune issues and doing a cleanse completely helped to transform my body. I now lose weight faster and my hair no longer falls out. I eat fruits and meat only. I did lots of research and completely removing sugars, grains and processed foods was a must for me. Any time I eat those things my body reacts to it horribly. I'm currently looking into castor oil healing benefits. I love that there's so much that can be done when we take our health into our own hands. Doing our own research and just trying what we can. I also read the medical medium books and looked into carnivore. I cleansed my body by doing 1 month of just fruits.

@@missyme2673I use henna powder for a scalp treatment a couple times a year. If your hair is light colored it will dye it red, but my hair is dark brown so it only shows up copper colored on my few gray hairs. But it helps so much with scalp issues, and gives a shine and seal to my hair for months.

I’ve bought my high-end products at TJMAXX or even Marshall’s. But even though they’re cheaper I’ve still bought products that don’t work right for my hair.

Thanks for the video. Congrats on getting your 100K KZfaq plaque. I find day 1 can be good with my cheaper product but I have no longevity to my hair. I also find I use more of the cheaper products to make them work. I use lower tier salon products and get great definition with more longevity. Aveda is not in my price range. I think technique is just as important as products.

My sister is a hair stylist and even though she prefers high end products, she says that if she had to choose high end or affordable, she would choose high end for washing and conditioning but affordable for stylers.

Best treatment for curly hair, cut it regularly, take the damaged and split ends off.

Yes, I have noticed that it is not really the products you use but the technique and how healthy your hair is. You can buy a bunch of extremely expensive products and they will not work if you do not focus on the technique of applying the products and on the health of your hair.
