Thanks a lot! Yes, I sometimes use "complimentary contrast" to create interest, although usually in quite subtle ways. You'll notice that for Thanos' armour for example I use some purple in the shadows to compliment the largely yellowish tone of the mid tones and highlights.. 🙂

Well, I kind of show the process in the video; for the more blended areas (the blue outfit basically) it's really about lightening the tone gradually then highlighting up covering ever-decreasing areas. Sometimes if I notice a harsh transition I might brush a thinned intermediate tone over the border to soften things out, or brush the highlight tone thinned down over the border into the direction of the highlight - once again just to smooth things out. :)

Well, I painted as a kid quite a bit - mostly Warhammer FB then 40k (so around 35 years ago). Then shifted to 2D art at college, and returned to mini painting around 10 years ago. 🙂

Well, I think it's useful to be clear in your mind about what standard you're aiming for and how much time you're willing to invest. I sometimes paint quite quickly to achieve an OK table top standard. But there's nothing quick about the way I'm painting the M:CP minis for sure. 😁

Hi! I think the quality of the MCP minis is outstanding. They're made with a nice hard plastic with lots of detail, and I've found the mold lines to be mostly quite minimal. Some of the models do come with some very tiny parts which irks some people, but I'm ok with really. 🙂

Hi! I personally like to apply zenithal highlights partly - yes - to get a nice tonal "map" to refer to, but it also makes it much easier to achieve bright base tones whilst retaining naturally-dark recesses and areas of shadow (such as the eye area for example in this case). You could certainly achieve a nice paint job without the zenithal highlights; I just find they make it a bit easier to get there. 🙂
