@@SortaStupid The problem is the translation to subtitles, in Russian he says over 28 Kilos (note the trivia says he kills 28 people, probably meaning guards plus VIPs) but I feel like the people subbing it didn't understand the significance of the line and translated it to pounds on principle. The fact he gave him a tip-off on how many are inside still stands though, I guess 60 might have just sounded more impressive if translation did know?

One thing I love about this movie is that John is a believer in the double tap. He doesn't just shoot people in the torso and then just leaves them to potentially still be able to shoot him while on the ground, especially because he knows that they are probably wearing body armor. So he shoots center mass to stagger then makes sure to pop the head to make sure they are dead. Same with the guy he chokes out on the floor. He isn't gonna take the chance that the guy is faking being knocked out, so he snaps the neck too to make sure. Just pure cold efficiency.

Marcus has really good writing that very few people pick up on. He asks if it's an open contract to determine who else will be going after John, and then just ambiguously says "Consider it done", instead of saying "I'll accept the contract", so he can look out for him.

The John Wick series is amazing. I got interested in it when I heard it was about a man out for revenge for his car stolen and dog killed. The director used to be Keanu’s stunt man in “The Matrix”. Keanu did the majority of his action scenes and only used stuntmen when it was so dangerous even a seasoned stuntman would get hurt. It always made me wonder why the wife didn’t make sure to have food delivered with the dog. The Red Circle fight scene Keanu had the flu bad with around 103 degree fever but still nailed the shot. Keanu really values his stunt-doubles. He buys them wrap gifts. Like one John Wick movie he got them motorcycles and the latest one he got all 5 of them submariner watches engraved saying John Wick 5 the stuntman’s name and date. Iosef couldn’t just steal John’s car cause of the way that John acted at the gas station. Iosef felt disrespected so he was going to make sure he learned a lesson not knowing who John was. I love how Viggo says “oh”. It’s like he read a multipage letter. I like the Marilyn Manson song they put in and I’m not a big Manson fan. It really fits with what Marcus does.

@Mrryn
@Mrryn Жыл бұрын
As sad as it is, it makes sense. Daisy was that last flicker of the hope and love his wife left behind - the same woman whose love pulled John out of the life to start. It only makes sense that that little light had to be snuffed out for John to fall back into that dark place he was freed from and be who he was before, even just for one last dipshit who needed to learn a lesson. If anything, John taking in another dog at the end is a subtle sign of character growth. Instead of falling fully into that darkness, turns out his wife did instill that bit of hope deep into him - he didn't lose it all when Daisy was killed even when it really seemed like Daisy was the one tether to that happy life he had left, and he was able to find it in himself to save a life and bring another thing to love and care for into his life even after falling back into being Baba Yaga.

The genius of this movie is that you don't even realize when you're watching it how much lore and world-building they're giving you for them to build on in the sequels. It like nothing but action but there's a lot of expert story-telling going on in the background that you're taking in but not processing until it comes back up in later movies. My personal favorite is the second one. It has the most tension to me because the antagonist is actually a legitimate rival for John.

This is a thought I just had, I doubt I'm the first to think it. Its always badass when a guy just kicks ass or goes on a spree in movies in simple black suit. And think I know why. Yes its to do with the simplicity of it; just no frills, no real flash, it lets you focus on the action and the emotions... But its a bit deeper than that, I think. I think the reason its so badass to see a character like john wick in the simple black suit go on his revenge fueled murder spree... Is because its, in essence, a funeral suit. Its basically a statement. "they put on this suit, and people. Are going. To die."

One thing about first time watching a movie with someone who's already watched it is that during the movie where they think some scenes are not important so they just loudly joke it through while your experience will be easily ruined, as if they handpicked what they think the most highlighted part of the movie for you to focus, instead of yourself. Plus from directing and movie making perspective, a movie is delivering an experience of watching it from top to end continuously without pausing and sharing, that's why the best movie experience is in the movie theater coz you just sit their, shut your mouth and phone down and purely experience the whole story. But everyone has different ways of enjoying movie I guess, the point is having a blast :)

also also "no business can be conducted on these grounds, lest incurring heavy penalties" doesn't specify killing anyone. it literally means acting on a contract. you'll see this in action in the second movie, which I highly recommend. Whether you kill the target or not, you are NOT to conduct business of any kind, aka tracking or attacking a contract target, when on the premises of the Continental Hotel, worldwide.

For the record, John Wick kills 77 people in this movie. If you want to make that a drinking game...good luck.

This is the lowest budged and least violent of the four... Seriously, in this movie, John just wants to go home to the suburbs and grieve his wife. By the time of the fourth one, he's going full Doom Slayer "rip and tear until it is done" against enemies in level 5 body armor and ninjas (it's about 2.75 hours long, with around 2 hours of that being fight scenes).

Also, the gold coins are more like tokens to the right of service than money. Having the coins is saying you're part of that world.

>_> So, Erik - I hope I didn't butcher the pronunciation of that - have you ever had anybody tell you that you slightly resemble Henry Czerny? He's the actor that plays Eugene Kittridge in Mission Impossible 1 and returned to the character for Dead Reckoning, Pt 1. It's not an insult, just noting a slight resemblance.
