@@emeleel It WAS his choice though. He could have gone another path. How many times have we seen Barry go an entirely different direction than what was on the board right in front of him? He does have a long enough history of saying "F^*( this! I'm gonna do this instead!" for me to legitimately believe the sob story "But it wasn't really his decision." Yes, I am being tough on him but that's what happens when you come in and present a negative attitude towards a situation.

@@GutsBatman He hasn't done that in a long time, and even so, he wasn't entirely sure that it WAS fish and chips. It was 100% James's fault. He knew that salmon was unconventional yet he put it on the table anyway.

If Barry didn't like it in the fish and chips, since he was complaining about it the whole time, then he should have swapped it out. But to say that it's James's fault for not wanting boring and flavorless "traditional" food is just ridiculous. The worst thing James did was the pineapple, which was just wrong, imo.

And before that, the croquembouche was a very impressive pass. Did I miss an episode somewhere? I hope I did because I always want to watch more of this.

@@chrisvrana706 2 months later. We have returned to rock bottom. James Currie has proven to be the worst person to start off ever since his plans for dishes are too complex for a normal to make. The pastry challenge was already handwritten to be an easy pass but James decided to go and make Sponge cake instead.

Barry was a complete whining douche in this episode. He deserved his 2/10.

@@canadiandude1965 If you were presented with a classic well known in your region that has an abnormal twist to it (salmon instead of a white fish) and half of the stuff made so far would potentially kill you (Barry's allergic to pineapple) you would be unhappy as well. Barry did an amazing job by still contributing to this dish - double dipped the fish to improve it's taste, made another side dish... He could've just cross his arms for 10 minutes and sass James for being an asshole who always bullies Barry, but he did not.

Oh no he couldn't taste a sauce he didn't really need to taste and some fish was left on the table that could have easily been swapped out. Yeah Barry really got "shafted" certainly wasn't he just threw a little tantrum and sulked for 10 minutes.

​@@Dream146 100% agree that the sulking and tantrum was unnecessary and rude... still, 1) James knowingly made an entire component that he knew one of his friends wouldn't be able to eat later on. 2) Having just started the challenge Barry probably would have had to taste the sauce to know what it was, so he'd know what he needed to add to the dish to balance flavours out. 3) While in reality it would have been easy to swap out the salmon, Barry probably thought he was going to get flack for swapping the chef's choice out for the normal's choice. Says a lot though, how he chose to continue James' effort even if he hated it, and didn't throw it out. They both did asshole things in this episode, but James did 'shaft' Barry, especially when he said that the salmon choice was Barry's then did a 180 to get the praise for it when it turned out nice. Honestly hope that they were just playing it up for the camera now, cause if they weren't then my respect for both of them, more-so for James, has dropped to sub-basement levels tldr; James is a terrible team player, and shafted Barry. Barry could and should have handled his attitude much, much better.

@@joeycsc he called exactly what it was, a curry pineapple sauce. It was a side to the dish he didn't have to eat it. The goal is to make a nice interesting dish, not feed Barry Taylor.

James put that particular fish out and used an ingredient he knew Barry was allergic to. If it were me I'd be bitter too.
