Droves? You've seen nothing yet. This band has one of the most fanatical fan bases on the planet! You're talking about a band that sold out the Tokyo Dome with 55,000 seats two nights on the the trot. I saw them myself in London last February in a sold out show for 5,000 people. I was astonished by the diversity of the crowd... from old metal heads with Iron Maiden T-shirts to young girls in full Babymetal cos-play fig. There were people that brought their kids... there were people that brought their grand kids! I spoke to people from Japan, the USA, France, Germany, Sweden, Australia and a dozen other countries besides. Some of these folks were just following the band around the world. The fans call themselves "The One" and the term is expressive for you'll rarely find a more unified collective at any show. It was a remarkable experience. The show was fantastic and the fans are literally a part of the show... as vital to the overall spectacle as the musicians, the light show, the sound engineers and the girls themselves. It really does feel like a collective endeavour in which you as the fan are expected to play a role in the creation of something special.

Great reaction!! The outro part was all in English. Su was yelling "WE ARE!!!" the crowd answers "BABYMETAL!!!" Then Su screams "PUT YOUR KITSUNES UP!" At the very end they say "SEE YOU!!!" 'We are Babymetal' signifies how the crowd at their shows play such an important part in the whole experience so they are basically saying everyone together makes up Babymetal. The kitsune (Kitsune = Fox) is the hand sign they do throughout the song which looks like a shadow puppet fox. There is a ton of mystic lore involved with the kitsune and the fox sign which others can describe more thoroughly.

The so-called death stare that Su-Metal gets on her face as she parts the audience is actually the burning gaze of Alexander the Great, which seems to peer into your very soul. Queen Su has a couple other things in common with the mighty Macedonian conqueror. First, there is her self-avowed desire to conquer the world, albeit in her case through music. Then there is the story about a much earlier performance at Saitama Super Arena in 2008. Back then Su was the youngest member of a pop/idol trio called Keren Girl's. Having never played such a large venue before, the two older girls were naturally a bit nervous about it. Su on the other hand was so confident that she decided to take a nap before the show, and slept so soundly that someone had to go wake her. The first time I read this story it actually gave me a chill because there is an eerily similar story told about Alexander before the Battle of Gaugamela. It was then that I realized what is so special about Su-Metal. She possesses than intangible something that is the spark of greatness. That might help to explain how such a young girl can exert so total command over her vast legions of fans.

The setup of the band reflects something about Japanese culture. When you go to a show in Japan it's considered impolite for you to sing along with the main singer. The idea is that the rest of the crowd is there to here them sing, not you. So the job of the 2 side girls is to give the audience a part that it's OK to sing and dance along with. BABYMETAL are pretty much built from the ground up as a live act. Their studio recordings are OK, but the real 'finished product' for them is the live show with the choreo and the audience participation parts. That's the art that they really aim to create. Next up check out their perfomance of Karate@DownloadUK kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p752bJeDrL-pnas.html That'll let you see them in front of a western festival crowd. EDIT: Also, don't sweat to hard about not understanding the lyrics. The music, vocal delivery, facial expressions, and choreo will usually give a really good idea of what the song is about. They're *very* emotive and that's a big part of why it all works so well despite the language barrier.

It's funny the difference in cultures all over the world. I went to a concert when I was younger (here in the U.S.) and the singer and entire band stopped playing because the crowd started singing the song together. They came back in to help finish out the song, but it was largely crowd-led. When it finished, he said that that is the coolest, most gratifying, yet humbling part of the performance, when the crowd can and does sing the song to them. It shows how much the song resonates with the crowd if they can and want to sing it back and it gave him chills every time it happened. I'm sure the small break for their voice is appreciated as well.

@@mr.osclasses5054 A lot of the social rules in Japan (at least with my limited exposure) seem based around being very considerate of the people around you. I remember when I was there that it was fine to sit and drink a can of beer outside anywhere, but walking with an open can was frowned upon because if you bumped into someone you might splash beer on them.

@@emperorchopchop7726 I'm actually aware of their focus on consideration for others (man, could we use some of that in the West!), including the not walking while eating/drinking. I feel like I have heard about the not singing when the lead singer is part, but I'm not sure. It would be really interesting to know if Su and Moa feel similar to the Japanese style of consideration, or if they would prefer the more Western scenario that I mentioned. They love the call & response parts, and the fact of making the entire "The One" song in English as a thank you to international fans learning Japanese to sing-along would suggest they might lean towards the story I told, but at the same time they to adhere to the norms of Japanese performers when doing shows there (as you'd expect given they were born & raised there, and still live there). I suppose they just adapt and go with it depending on where they are. I know when I go to other countries, I try to adhere to social norms there and not be "that American", so I'm sure they just roll with it as well. Either way, it's just interesting to see/hear about the differences.

Mischief of the Gods is the perfect chance to hear the Kami (God) Band flex their skills.
@emb5091
@emb5091 3 жыл бұрын
The musicians are called the "Kami Band". "Kami" means god in Japanese, and these guys are like gods of music. They are all men and are Japan's best musicians. They are wearing burial gowns and corpse face paint because in the BABYMETAL legend/fantasy/storyline, the "Fox God" (not a real god in real life) raises the musicians from the dead and calls upon them to play the music for the girls for each concert. The 3 girls were chosen by the "Fox God" to unite the world through metal. BABYMETAL has a fantasy-like backstory or storyline, like some old school metal bands use to have, which is why the band and the girls dress they way they do. Each album and tour has a storyline that fits in the main backstory, and there is an evolution. But I believe since they are girls, this gave them a little anonymity and privacy, since they are not so easily recognizable in the real world....reminds me of KISS.

They are NOT risen from the dead. They're not corpses. This is Japanese Shinto based lore. They are Kami. The spirits that embody nature. In this case, the Kami of guitar, bass, and drums. Excellent reaction, thanks for listening to the comments on your Kingslayer reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL galaxy. To try and answer a couple of your questions - for the best translations to songs from the first two albums just google "du-metal" plus the song title (someone has posted a link to his translation for this song already). Yes Su-metal, the slightly taller girl in the middle, is lead vocals ... the whole concept for BABYMETAL was formed and developed around her vocal talents and stage presence ... even though she was only 12 years old when they first started. Yuimetal and Mometal are 18 months younger than Su and they have head mics on so they can sing and do all the more strenuous choreo. They provide backing vocals, harmonies and are generally in charge of hyping up the crowd and getting everybody involved. None of them are related but they are like sisters and were close friends even before BABYMETAL formed as a sub-unit of a Jpop group they were all members of. The Kami Band are among Japan's very best session musicians. They first appeared in October 2012 (two years after BABYMETAL started) and played a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows until in early 2014 they became the full time support for all live shows. They have core regular members but when their own commitments and projects clash there are a couple more who might swap in for them. BOH is the bass player (or Skeletor as you named him) and he is a monster with his 6 string bass. In this video the guitarists were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura, Hideki Aoyama was on drums. This was at Saitama Super Arena early in 2015 with a crowd of 20,000 and maybe a few more. Su was 17, Yui and Moa were 15. AT the end Su was shouting "WE ARE" for the response "BABYMETAL" - so next time you react to one of their closing songs (this was the last encore in this show) you can join in the hype. Use the link in Papa Xan's comment for your next reaction ... or any of the other recommendations you've had. I have subscribed for more as I really enjoyed this one.

Great reaction, thanks! This was back in January 10th 2015 and the venue was the Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in Japan with a sold out crowd of 20.000+ people. SU-METAL the lead singer, was 17 years old while YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL were 15 (yes they dance and also sing (or scream hehe), apart from Black BABYMETAL songs where they sing as a duet without Su). Yes this is an awesome example of their amazing crowd control. And not even their biggest crowd. They sold out two consecutive nights at the Tokyo Dome in 2016 with 55.000 people each one. Now you have reasons to be jealous :) Herman Li and Sam Totman from Dragonforce collaborated with BABYMETAL on this one, writing guitar tracks and playing on studio version. Hope this not get blocked... because it usually gets blocked, a lot...

Great reaction, man! They aren't related, and once you see them a few times you'll be able to tell the difference between them no problem. If you thought the crowd there was impressive at this show, they sold out two nights at the Tokyo Dome in 2016, that's 55,000 people each night. The main vocalist, the one in the middle, is Su-metal. The other two are Yuimetal and Moametal. They do backing vocals and handle hyping up the crowd. Check out Headbanger from the Legend 1997 concert (the title refers to the year of the lead singers birth, not the year of the show) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6ujgsR-x7Sqp6s.html You'll see how the crowd is hyped up and a big part of the show.

I saw Sabbath live in 1976 and Babymetal live in Feb this year. They are the best new Metal genre (Kawaii Metal/ Cute Metal) to appear for decades and the most original performers I've seen play live since seeing Slipknot back in the late 90's. They also make you smile more and feel happier than any other Metal band ever. Try their first appearance at a Metal festival outside Japan, at Sonisphere in the UK, where aged just 15 and 16, they walked out to face 65,000 Metal heads who had mostly never heard of them and finished their set with the best Metal song ever about stopping bullying forever, IDZ: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iNVdksaTy8rWiXk.html . OK, let's clear up some things: the girls are not related and Su, the lead singer, never has the same hairstyle as her ninja angel demon sidekicks Yui and Moa, who always have ponytails. Su, the lead singer, is a soprano with a range of C4 to G#5 and allegedly trains for their energetic and epic live performances by running on a treadmill and then stopping to sing a verse. Yui and Moa sing also, but in counterpoint to Su. The musicians - all very well respected masters of Metal music - are known as The Kami Band (The God Band- rightly named) and they are dressed as corpses! There are a few performances where they all play a solo as an intro to the song. Here's a link to one of the best, Catch Me If You Can, the best Metal song ever about playing Hide and Seek (keep up, other Metal bands. It can't all be about Satan, Halloween masks or industrial construction equipment). Oh, and there's English subtitles on this version too so you can sing along! : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pM1oiMKblc3UfH0.html . PS At the end of their live performances, Su always shouts out 4 times "WE are..." and Yui and Moa and the whole crowd reply "Babymetal!". And they usually sign off after that with a "See you!" from Su and then Yui, Moa and the crowd reply with a "See you!" back. If you want to know what any Babymetal lyrics are in English, as well as an explanation of what elements of the lyrics mean or symbolise, then the best site is: du-metal.blogspot.com/2013/09/song-list.html . Subscribed to watch your journey down the Fox Hole, as we say!

I totally agree with you on your take for having songwriters and music composers working separately from the performers. I came to the realization, especially with BABYMETAL and how stupidly good they make those songs and transpose it on stage, that it's probably better anyway to have talented people cater only to what they do best. I take it like that : the music composers and songwriters aren't necessarily the best performers. The best performers aren't necessarily that talented in song writing. It is especially true with BABYMETAL. The most talented people just work on the part that they do best and at the end of this process you get something that is phenomenal. I would not want the session musicians to start dancing and try being cute (as cute as Ohmura is :D). Much like I wouldn't want one of those girls to try and replicate what the guitarists are doing. Everyone in BABYMETAL has a job and they do hone their craft to perfection.

Seems all the new folks to Babymetal are coming over from Kingslayer. So a bit if info to help, don't worry about understanding the vocals, as Su-metal the lead singer said "don't think, just feel". They have been going 10 yrs this November, Su is 23 in December. The two other girls Yui-metal and Moa-metal are called scream and dance, they are crowd interaction. They sing on their own songs whilst Su gets a rest, then Su sings giving Yui and Moa a well earned rest (these girls go hard for one and a half hours). This was a small audience of about 17000 I think, they were invited to play Tokyo Dome 110,000 over 2 nights. So 10yrs, 50+ songs multiple world tours, live is best, they have won awards for best live band. In 2014 played Sonisphere in the UK in front of 60,000 metalheads and slayed the crowd. Played with Metallica in South Korea, RHCP, Korn, Rob Halford and Slipknot. Corey Taylor loves them, but who doesn't. Best 2 MV are Karate and Megitsune, Headbanger, Awadama Fever, Rhondo of Nightmare with Kami Band intro, Babymetal Death, Meta Taro are usually the best to get to know Babymetal. The musicians are called the Kami Band and are some of the best Japan has to offer, Takayoshi Ohmura guitar, Mikio Fujoka guitar, BOH bass and Aoyana Hideki drums, and sometimes Leda Cygnus guitar.

Thank you for checking out Babymetal. This was the last song in the concert. The song guitar parts were actually done by the guitarists Sam and Herman from Dragonforce, you might notice their signature style. :-) The girls were 11 and 12 when Babymetal got started, if they didn't have a team as you said (well, basically one guy at the time, the producer) involved in the music, etc. to build everything around the main vocalist voice then they wouldn't have even started what they did. And Babymetal does do something different than most which can only be a good thing ( unless you want to be an elitist gatekeeper of course, very few do. Seems pretty clear you don't !). The producer came from bands culture and was/is a metal head and was asked to work at the kids division at the company and notice Suzuka (Su-metal in Babymetal) is a talented singer with a loud singing style. He thought what better way to let her talent shine than put her together with the loud metal music. The company didn't support this project financially, but let him work on it. The whole reason they even put him in the kids division is because the interest in bands in the Japanese music industry was in decline.I see one of the top comments suggested: Karate at Download. I think it would be a good choice.

While BabyMetal is far from the biggest band in Japan, they are the biggest Japanese band outside of Japan, and even the biggest Asian band outside of Asia. By their standards, this wasn't all that large of a crowd. They've played some 290 concerts over the last 10 years, including world tours every single year since 2014. They have won countless awards and industry accolades, and in 2019 BabyMetal became the first Asian act to top the Billboard Rock Albums chart with the release of their third studio album, Metal Galaxy. I think it's safe to say that they have quite a few fans :-) The girl in the middle is Su, and she is indeed the main vocalist. She is flanked by Yui and Moa, who do more dancing, crowd interaction and backing vocals. They were 17, 15 and 15 at the time of this concert (which took place on January 10, 2015) and already very seasoned performers, as you could clearly see. The bassist is Boh, The God of Bass, playing one of his custom Atelier Z Beta 6 Strings. He is about to become one of your all-time favorite bass players. We could hasten that process by recommending that you listen to "Rondo of Nightmare" next, with the "Mischief of Metal Gods" intro. But there are many other great songs to chose from. For most of them, you really should watch recordings of live performances. They do have a few music videos that warrant a look, but in general, if you just follow the recommendations in the comments, the fans won't steer you wrong.

BABYMETAL 101 Founded 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (22 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Meta, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight Metal Galaxy Era The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3 member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert was well worth it. COVID Era COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. Music Videos of this Era BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015)

From what was described in interviews, their producer/manager will bring Su-metal music and she will work out how the song will be sung using la-la's and other non-sense words. Once that is worked out someone else will go write the lyrics. So she does have a lot of input in how the song will end up sounding.

Some BABYMETAL flexes include: Being championed by pretty much every big metal name you can think of. Playing 2 shows in 2 days to a total of 110,000 people Turning a UK metal festival crowd of 60,000 people who mostly had no idea who they were into fans in only 2 songs. Having not 1 but 2 bands of musicians who are extraordinarily talented. Honestly they are supremely underrated and the decade of hate that they received only made them better and better as they aged. This video isn't even the best performance of this song. Earlier this year they performed it in Japan with both of their bands and every member of the group involved. Which of you watch the performance, it looks like there a dozen giant circle pits and walls of death throughout the entire audience going insane.

To what they can flex, I must add performing at the Budokan (also two nights in a row, for that matter) when Su was 16, and Yui and Moa were 14. If you're walking onto the stage at that venue at _any_ age, you better be bringing 110% of your A-game.

Dying the eastern sky true red, the light of signal fire tells the end of the darkness of solitude. It's a new guidepost. Even if you are crushed, again and again, burn your flame of heart! Now is the time! Is the time! This moment right now. Is the time! Is the time! Living together. Just now is the time! Is the time! I sing for the you of tomorrow. Now the time has come. Go for Resistance! [Resistance!] Resistance! [Resistance!] Wow wow wow wow wow. Our hearts are one. If you believe in your way, go on even the way without a path! Forever! [Forever!] Forever! [Forever!] Wow wow wow wow wow. In the depths of our heart, the hot Metal spirit is burning. It is our Resistance. Wow wow wow wow... As long as life continues, I will never turn my back to reality. Today makes tomorrow. Yes, it's our future. On the way, [ah.] Resistance! Resistance! Stand up and shout! [Shout!] Justice forever! If you believe in your way, go on! The answer is here. Forever! [Forever!] Forever! [Forever!] Wow wow wow wow wow. In the depths of our heart, the hot Metal spirit is burning. Our Resistance.

The concert you just watched was a 20,000 crowd. Su was 17 and Yui and Moa were 15. Unbelievable confidence, power and crowd control. As others have said, you need to see a lot more. when asked about seeing Babymetal for the first time, Rob Zombie said: "I saw them the other day for the first time. I mean, I'd seen videos and stuff, but I saw them live for the first time the other day, and I just loved it; it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I mean, it was just like… Leave it to the Japanese to find a way to make fucking death metal cute. But it was awesome. And the crowd… The crowd was going fucking apeshit. The amount of crowdsurfing and stage diving and just complete mayhem, which made it even funnier, 'cause it's three cute little girls doing fucking karate on stage and shit, and these guys [that are backing them] are dressed like ghosts, all in white. It's the most bizarre fucking thing. It's totally worth watching; it's so good."

This is such a great choice for first Babymetal reaction. All three of them do sing, but Su-metal is the lead vocalist. The whole Babymetal machine was essentially built around her voice and stage presence. The producer, Koba, is a metalhead that wanted to experiment with this combination to see if he could breathe some life into the Japanese metal scene. He's a big fan of Metallica and X Japan and there's a ton of references to both bands, especially in the early material. For the first two albums, it's usually best to look up Du-metal's translations. If you want to get a really serious look at the musicianship that the backing Kamiband bring to the table, check out the performance of Rondo of Nightmare from the Budokan Black Night concert.

Good insight! Lots of tunes are written for sell in the music "market" as well as commissioned to be written. Then, when performed or recorded by the ones who wrote it or paid to have it written it gets no traction when performed, distributed and or presented. Later, another band picks it up and hits big. Or even for example "I Want You to Want Me" was just another tune on their album but when they played it faster and different in concert in Japan it hit big everywhere. Same song. Same artist. They just played it drastically different but same tune. So as you had insight to, it is a thing. So anyway, it could of not happened, as you say sometimes it is hard to get the right elements of tune and artists no matter how well tunes are written or good the musicians. Not even money can buy popularity- see Corey's cringe but lots of money video. When BABYMETAL started it was on a shoe string budget with borrowed costumes and just what precisely what was necessary support anyway. BABYMETAL got me with Anime..., Headbanger....White Love.... and kept me with Syncopation, ToD, IDZ and 💔 2019 now Kangaru, Bring Moa Chicken, BND, Kingslayer, Shanti... etcetera..... To see BM 2010-2018 is good, not necessarily because Yui💕 was there, though Yui 😻Su🎖️ Moa❤️ "first stage powered" up to this "stage two" of Su Moa but because: It was new and frankly pretty spectacular to me. Not gonna mention other things it was, KISS in the early 70's and I'd been a Gwar fan and their ex front RiP was the funniest off the cuff person that ever lived. So I'm fairly familiar with pyro, costumes, other showy and extras to the music, but still I was impressed. Didn't mention musicians? I'm from the school of Randy, Jake, EVH, Hendrix, Page, Arch Enemy, AL D, Glen C, Roy, Jim Stafford. etcetera so I simply put Kami up there with them so didn't bear pointing out really. All gods. New appreciation for bassists and drummers too! I was coming from Sakura Gakuin first. It was so great to be there from the start. Moimoi, CD, clumsy Su's sister Himeka, Marina goofy but 2nd best voice, Hana with best hair and shark eyes, Mini Pati etcetera... Then you'll know why the "One"! A person can still backtrack from 2007 all the way to Kingslayer, BMC with all the videos still available 🙂 to get the full effect!

They have been performing on stage for over a hour at this point, can you tell? They girls are in their mid-teens, High School students. What were you doing when you were High School? They were the first Japanese band to play Wembley Arena, breaking the record for band merchandise sold. They also sold-out the LA Forum in 2019. They are not related. They have been performing professionally since they were 6 yo and there are videos. 2020 is the 10th anniversary year for Babymetal. Today they are in their early twenties. choreographer to fine tune the final performance.

I agree. It's incredible the stamina they have! I will say, though.. in high school, I was staying up all night playing video games and music, then going to school or whatever other responsibilities I had then. I couldn'tt dream of doing that now that i'm.. well, we will say that I'm older. Haha

If I had only started listening to them two months earlier I could have (would have, rather) seen them in Dallas. Ijime, Dame, Zettai from Sonisphere 2014.

they're not related. su is always the one with the hand mic; the other two use headsets. if you're familiar with the concept of "the path of least resistance", this song is about the opposite of that -- doing what's right, even if it's hard. "stand up and shout! justice forever!" and at the end, they say "we are...babymetal!" all of these parts are in english.

He must have some shitty headphones lol. I can clearly hear them saying WE ARE(SU) BABYMETAL(YUI and MOA) at the end. Also i can clearly hear them(moa and yui) when they sing. But looks like when someone have shitty headphones they cant even hear that and ask if they sing or just dance.

Better late than never where Babymetal are concerned, I only discovered them in February this year and have been addicted to them ever since. One song you really must check out is Tales Of The Destinies, it will confuse and delight you in equal measure, there is no official video so I advise you to just check out the audio.

I envy you so much, what I wouldn't give to be able to go back to my first time hearing them :) They incorporate J-Pop with pretty much every style of metal (Djent, Power, Trash,...). Heck, they even incorporate Ska, Folk, Indian,... Enjoy the ride should you decide to go down that path, you won't be disappointed. Looking forward to more reviews. Subscribed.

Welcome to the Foxhole. Su-Metal is the main singer. They are not related. The Kami Band is incredible, but they are not technically 'part' of BabyMetal. Live performances are as incredible in real life as they are in the videos. At the end of their shows they say "We Are BabyMetal", it has to do with 'The One", which is BabyMetal and their fans. There are several songs that the band gets to 'shine'; Rondo of Nightmare, Catch Me If You Can & Akatsuki.
