Brilliant.....Best jig you will ever buy.......32 years in the trade and tried them all. This is the best out there simple design, easy to use and very quick and easy to set up...Bought mine from Axminster. Great price. You can fit locks easy and neat all day long anyone can use it. Like they say, simple ideas are the best and in this case that's true.. Made in the UK.
@SouberTools8 жыл бұрын
Hi Arfonia. Thanks for your great endorsement. This version of the Jig is mainly for the Eastern European Market where locks are fitted off-Centre. The UK uses the Self Centring version (JIG1) which accounts for 99% of our Morticer sales in the UK. However, some people also buy the Offset Housing kit (as per the video) and use it to cut the hinges in the door. If you bring down the Tube clip at the top of the jig it will enable you to create a "datum" for all 3 hinges without having to re-set the height !! YES----MADE IN THE UK Paul Souber

You could cut mortices for tenon with this to cut started using this bit of kit its great the spring used on the off set is that to act like a stop too?
@SouberTools5 жыл бұрын
The Spring supplied in the Offset Housing Kit is only to remind you to position it at an angle instead of horizontally.

Hi! Can it be used to door hinges?thanks
@SouberTools7 жыл бұрын
It can be used on Doors for hinges, but I recommend using a CWB32 32mm Cutter to save time. Also, bring the tube clip down to the top clamp to create a datum for repeat Hinges. For Frames it will open up to 100mm Max, but note it won't grip on chamfered architraves.

Won't it be better to cut the outer part of the lock first than the body
@SouberTools5 жыл бұрын
You mean the Faceplate/Forend. The advantage of doing this way round is that you can check the body fit as you go and then you can mark up the position of the top/bottom of the faceplate. This way give much better control of the final fit. But, if you want to break with the traditional way, feel free to give it a go.

Cutting the face plate part made me wince a bit, I could imagine it chewing up the timber. That kind of put me off. Imagine it messing a expensive oak door up. Cut the inside for the mortice lock I would like one if it cuts the time down.

120,000 sold worldwide. That answers most questions.
@xxyxnxwxaxx97242 жыл бұрын
@@SouberTools I'm sorry if I touched a nerve, but it wasn't intended as a slagging off reply. I was just saying stating the sound from the cutting sounded rough. And yes I agree. That's a fair amount sold. But a 120.000 is a drop in the ocean to how many tradesmen there is out there world wide. Just saying.
@SouberTools2 жыл бұрын
@@xxyxnxwxaxx9724 There are techniques for doing perfect faceplates. There are also ways to mess it up. I won't focus on the various do's and don'ts as I will start to get into a lesson on training and that will take hours.
