How to pull off a critical finish: Try to make your opponent guard your attacks for awhile. When your opponent's Soul Gauge is flashing red, attack your opponent again. When your opponent guards, he/she will become SOUL CRUSHED; after this, immediately press G+A+B+K all at the same time. Last step, enjoy the show.

I love this soul calibur, I know everyone have they own opinion, but this was my favorite soulcalibur out of the whole series. I played all of them except 5. I even had soul blade ps1

+Alexander Coleman 5 sucks, they buffed the hell out of Nightmare. And there are no arcade endings and has a horrible story mode.

Every soulcalibur 4 character has 2 critical finishes , one normal and one unlockable attack that can only be done against Yoda , the apprentices finishing move is a lot better than what it showed

Astroth was in the first soul calibur game as well but he was in the second game, unlike rock

Wrong. By the time Soul Calibur came out, Rock was in two games; Soul Edge/Blade and Soulcalibur. Astroth appeared only in Soul Calibur, making him the second axe wielder.

Rich Gamerton Well, overall Astroth was the better character, with better design and backstory, I think Namco realised that and that's why Astroth was in soul calibur 5 and not Rock

So true. Not to mention that Rock's moves in the fourth Soul Calibur were over nine years old with no added moves. Namco dished him dirt but everyone loves Astaroth so I guess it's okay :-)

@@RichAlmeda "Soul Blade/Soul Edge" are the same game genius. But yes, Rock is an original cast member while Asteroth is a Clone that's modeled off o rock, both in real-life and in-game lore.

The Apprentice's and Lizardman's dont count. Whenever a CF is done on Yoda, because of his height difference, its just watered down to a single hit, a closeup of Yoda, then one of the attacking character's UA attacks. The CFs done on Yoda arent the character's true CFs.

Yoda is a commonly hated character in the game. If they played tournaments he'd be banned. His low hit box gives him too much advantage making some character unable to beat him because their moves will always whiff on him. He's cheap in the wrong way.

I like Yoshimitsu's finisher, that last part looks like it is based off of the samurai exucution where a swordsman would stand behind you and use his blade to remove your head while the samurai was on his knees in front of them.

@fuji5170 Far as I know, you need to: -Drain their soul gauge. That's the thing that goes from blue to red next to the HP bar. -Deal a heavy attack to the opponent while they block. Those are the types that crackle with lightning during the swing. -Break a piece of their armor. -Press ABGK all at once when they stagger and are surrounded by red lightning. Helps to have those inputs all mapped to a button. Like the right trigger or whatever you prefer.

@tightnessallday Cervantes was the wielder of Soul Edge before Nightmare got a hold of it, and the version Nightmare had wasn't the complete Soul Edge due to it being shattered and the shards spread across the various fighters (as seen in Soul Calibur II). Xianhua was the last person to wield Soul Calibur before Siegfried got it, and he didn't get his hands on it until the end of SCIII.

@Urbanpredator76 The reason is because they were being done on Yoda. Each character has a different one for Yoda, which is just one of their power moves.

@dragonsniper99 1. well, the easy way to find out how to do it is to go to training mode, put your opponent's soul guage on empty on the pause menu, then put your opponent on attack mode, then after you did all of that on the menu, keep hitting your opponent till it they turn red like on the video, then quickly press LB on your Xbox controller. and then you will see.

@awatk9000 No, they took them out, instead they have replaced them with Critical Edges, they are special attacks that you can use any time, not just at the end of the battle.

note the Apprentice has another Critical finish if you do it against another character, as Critical Finishes don't work on Yoda (well sort-of) Yoda is so short, you can't do the characters normal Criticl Finish on him, they will do an alternate one.

to do critical finishes i normal press the four face xbox buttons at the same time when i break my opponents guard. i hope that helps

I can kind of see why they did it with bonus characters since they used the same fighting style and similar weapons, but between Rock and Astaroth they definitely changed the entire thing rather than just end.

Last night, I had a hilarious and fun time on this game. I played it with my friend and I just kept pushing the x button and ducking over and over. I beat him 5 times in a row and it was my first time playing the game. But not my friend's. Lol

Some are missing : Lizard Man (vs Yoda it's always a fire attack), Dark Vador and the finisher of Algol vs Yoda (different and pretty cool).

@Jarock316 Well I was playing as lizard man once, and I did his critical finish, and he did something different and much more cooler than just rolling under your opponent. Maybe it was because I was playing as a different skin?

really it applies to everyone who tries to do a Critical Finish on Yoda, because he is so short, the normal Critical Finish doesn't happen, and it is replaced by another one as shown here for Lizardman and The Apprentice.

and easy way to practice doing these Critical Finish moves: go to character creation, and select test play, switch it from Freestyle training to Vs. CPU, set the soul guage for you enemy to empty so it will alway be empty, then preform a move that has Guard Break properties (look them up in the move list and it will have a blue icon that says "GB" on it, do that move and right after it, they should be in Soul Crush and then keep pressing the button that does A+B+G+K after doing the move.

@dragonsniper99 2. you can do it on anyone, but if you do it to "Yoda" (short green guy) then the Critical Finish is diffirent. on 0:24 and 2:24 those two are NOT the real Critical Finishes they are suppost to do.

@tightnessallday funny how Siegfried didn't get Soul Calibur until after all those things you mentioned happened. Siegfried wasn't the canonical wielder of the titular blade until IV.

late response here but you have to break their armor or whatever (notice how the health bar flashes red before it breaks) and then you press L1 quickly and it should go off.

Well, he's making you commit seppuku the way samurai did it, which is to hit the torso so one's entrails would begin to fall out, then slash the neck at a depth so that would be hanging on to the body by a thin scrap(think Nearly Headless Nick), so... yeah. Personally, I think the best CFs besides his are Zasalemel's, Seong Mi-na's, and Cervantes's.
