Reminds me of my Father. He sang it every Thursday during adoration. He is 72years now. Favourite of all hymns. Draws my soul nearer to my Jesus, Saviour and Lord

Beautiful! I grew up in York and St. Margaret Clitherow is one of my favourite saints. Soul of my Saviour is one of my favourite hymns. Thank you for sharing this video. ❤️

The organist started singing this hymn solo yesterday at Mass as I walked down the aisle to receive Holy Communion being the Feast of the Corpus Christi - and wow!!! I was so THRILLED to hear it again - and even more thrilled that I remembered the words! I hadn't heard it or sung it since my childhood school choir. And I've just turned 64 :)) Oh wow!! My heart swelled with sweet memories and tenderness, grateful that Sweet Jesus has been faithfully journeying with me all these years.....This morning I awoke singing it in my head "so shall I never, never part from Thee." But I somehow couldn't remember all the words any more so looked for it in my CBW hymnal. However, it wasn't there as old Latin hymns aren't sung much any more. Then I thought of Mr Google - and here it was on KZfaq!! Thank you soooooooo much for posting :)) :))

Beautiful reply. And I, too, sometimes hear parts of the hymn in my head. Haven't heard it sung for a long time. So this post has reawakened memories.

Beautiful. Sadly nowadays everyone is singing the eminently forgetful all bang bang and soulless non denominational hymns in my Catholic Parish and they ignore thr treasure trove of profoundly beautiful hymns like this one.

Interesting that the Oregon Catholic Press version of this hymn does not include the original last verse. this is really too bad because the original 3rd verse matched the Anima Christi Prayer.

The prelims are boring. This hymn is based on the prayer of St Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Companions of Jesus, later the Jesuits. "Anima Christi".
