Fun bit of Cannibal Corpse trivia: the singer (growler?) George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher is an expert at claw machines. When they're on tour, he spends his free time playing claw machines and winning all the toys and stuffed animals out of them, and then donates them to children's hospitals and whatnot. For a guy named Corpsegrinder, he's actually a very sweet man.

This is possibly the sweetest story I’ve ever been told. I can just imagine him turning up looking incredibly frightening to a small arcade, and spend an hour is collecting all of these toys with people gather round and watch him do it. 10 out of 10 comment my dude! 😊

Corpsegrinder, or, well George, is a great guy in real life. He's got a dark sense of humor but two of his biggest hobbies are traveling around looking for new Lego sets at stores and playing crane machines in stores he visits then donating the plushies and toys he wins to charity. Definitely the definition of a book best not judged by the cover.

Paul...the drummer...is still with the band. Paul and Alex the last 2 standing. Saw Cannibal Corpse once...well multiple times, but once during a show....during this particular song...George's microphone cut out. He kept going...no mic, and you could still hear him over the instruments...no amplification. George is a vocal BEAST. Very powerful lungs. He's also a big teddy bear who plays claw machines, empties them out, and donates all the toys and stuffed animals to Children's hospitals. George is hard core into World of Warcraft....he has the Horde logo tattooed on him and is so into Warcraft that there is an orc NPC quest giver in the Borean Tundra in Northrend named "Corspegrinder" after George

I think he’s one of if not the greatest death metal vocalist. He’s clean and heavy at the same time. He has great rhythm and how his voice rides the other instruments and adds depth to the songs. A lot of vocals in death metal you kind of tone out, but with Corpsegrinder you tend dial in and pay attention. So clean! A great song is “I will kill you”

@@SoulSingerDiscovers If you really want to see how hard Geroge's work is, watch the footage from the studio when they are recording the album. A Cannibal Corpse concert is an hour and 15 minutes on average, in the studio he "sings" for 8 or more hours. And he has been doing all this for more than 30 years in a band that is among the bands that have played the most concerts and tours... Plus his signature headbanging. It's even better live. The song is called ''The Time to Kill Is Now''... I posted the lyrics of the song. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rsyeoJyHnsmpgaM.html&ab_channel=Moshcam We see them coming a mile away Gathered to kill on the desolate plain No fear in our minds Pure hate in our hearts Miscalculation of our strength their bane Take us lightly and we'll make you pay Pride left them defenseless No mercy for hubris They rush to fight us and we stand and wait Pulses quicken as they take the bait Mere seconds to the slaughter We can wait no longer Closing fast with their weapons high Still believing it's we that will die Now the ambush is sprung Now they learn that they were wrong Now the killing will start Tear the bastards apart They thought it would be easy but now they're being crushed Arrogance of power leaves them dying in their blood There will be no mercy for these filthy sons of whores The innards of my enemies impaled upon my sword Many years we've waited for this final day of slaughter Our victims are decapitated, their limbs are torn asunder Careful preparation brought our haughty victims down Our forces are at full strength and the time to kill is now Time to kill is now Time to kill is now Time to kill is now Time to kill is now Time to kill is now Time to kill is now Time to kill is now Time to kill They are all dead, it's their end today All lost their lives in tremendous pain Not one has survived We left none alive Do not doubt our conviction to kill Hate on our side we will never fail Now the killing will start Tear the bastards apart Strike the enemy down The time to kill is motherfucking now

Hope you are reading the lyrics with these songs as well. I played with a growly singer for years, and would hear all the time, "I cannot understand what he is saying". I completely understand. So, I'd just let them read the lyrics, and to see the looks on their faces when they understood exactly what he was saying was awesome. He's actually singing words that are very legible, just growly. Out of all the styles of singing, I'm pretty sure what these (Death Metal) guys do has to be the hardest to both do, and maintain for years. You should watch/learn of Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage. Not Death Metal, but a screamer with a growl. And a very good clean (no scream/growl) singer. He destroyed his voice on their first tour like 20+ years ago, left the band, re-trained himself, came back years later even stronger when he learned to work on technique.

Was it just a coincidence that you put in the clip of Jim Carrey? Cannibal Corpse was in one of his movies - Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Alex Webster isn't the only original member, the drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz is one too. Chris Barnes was the original singer which isn't who you just listened to, that was George Fisher. Asking about Chris's palate in particular is kind of funny considering the "controversy" (for lack of a better word) surrounding that... I'm not even going to get into it lol. Yes, seen them live multiple times. One of the cool things about death metal is that because it doesn't have a ton of fans they tend to play smaller venues which just has a completely different atmosphere. Death metal is still metal though, so they still can play large venues (first time I saw them live was at an Ozzfest). Cool vid, always interesting to get a musician's take on metal bands. Even though most people don't like it, musicians tend to at least be able to recognize and respect their abilities for what they are.

Funny that you used the Jim Carey footage early on as he brought Canibal Corpse in to do the scene from the Ace Ventura Pet Detective movie. I love how you mentioned how similar the vocal presentation? Is similar to that of soul music. Always great to see people react to this genre of music as alot of the make the same statement that "before my journey into metal, I would not give this t secs, ut now I can appreciate this" as I feel alot of metal musician and fans can appreciate other genres of music but have a love for extreme music. Still love your work 🤘

You’re absolutely right, it is very hard when you’re not used to metal music to sit down and listen to it because it is a very intense style of music. The only other style of music I’ve come up against that has the same reputation for being hard to listen to which can initially turn people off is bebop jazz. I’m going to enjoy it. Thanks so much for watching my dude 😊

You probably already know/are doing this but if you are practicing metal vocals it’s seriously worth watching a few tutorials on it because if you don’t know how to do it and are trying to figure it all out yourself you can seriously damage your voice.

Corpsegrinder is the standard by which all other death metal vocalists are measured IMHO. Not many can combine both the power AND the great diction that he has; getting those vowels out without losing the consonants can be difficult when you're shifting that much air. I've seen them a few times and he always sounds exactly the same live as on record - no trickery was needed in the studio - and he's obviously VERY well practiced. Tbh you can say that for the whole band as well. And that's before we talk about the heaviest neck in metal.

Quite the same here. I got into metal first because I was listening to 80's hard rock and they were playing the same festivals. In the beginning I couldn't stand this type of songs. But I'm getting more and more into appreciating them. Last time I watched a Cannibal Corpse song it was too much. This one still has melody (which is important for me) and it was actually quite nice! Also the crowd for death metal is quite welcoming with introverts like me 🥰.

Cannibal corpse stands out among other death metal bands because they're absolutely excellent! There are a few death metal bands who are old school and yet consistently incredible. Cannibal corpse is one of those bands. You picked a great song to hear. Im also into classic Jazz, R&B and what yyou said (Stevie, Layla Hathaway, etc..) New Birth and early Earth, Wind and Fire are my favorites. Great metal has always been a part of my life. Since the mid 80s. Check out Carcass - heartwork Immolation - majesty and decay Death - Symbolic To name a few. All different vibes of course. A lot of great metal out there though. Different styles as well." Tales from the thousand lakes" by Amorphis is my favorite of all time. Also try out Einherjer, Helheim or Immortal from Norway. Different styles of metal. Anyway, i enjoyed hearing your take on things. Have you ever explored the music of Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Sade? Nice video, thanks...

Mad respect for your understanding of these traditionally challenging genres! Many CC fans do not like Mr Fisher as the original incarnations of CC sound more brutal and dirty. Personally I can appreciate both incarnations of the bands sound. Another controversial replacement vocalist is Daniel aka Mortuus from Marduk.
