Underfell sans usually has a "cap" over his magic, hes tremendously strong but he can quickly get tired, so an attack like that drained his magic a lot, causing him to take damage to his skull

Sleeping can increase your HP above max, but has a greater amount the lower your LOVE is. For Frisk, it always gets set to 30 (unsure if that’s +50% or +10 at LV 1). At higher LV, it still gets set to 30, meaning a lower bonus. If their max HP is above 30, it’s a full heal without bonus above max.
