Dear Lisa, As usual, all the projects are just lovely and the Jacob sweater came out beautiful... I'm sure you will be very cozy in it this winter. I have so much enjoyed the slow and gentle pace of the video and it is exactly what I needed today..... with a perfect ending of you playing that beautiful song. Have a lovely time away and we'll speak when you get back. Lots of kisses. Ivana ❤️

If you end up with a usable yarn that you love, how important is it to be a “technical” spinner? I doubt that our grandmothers kept track of their angle of twist. Not to detract from those who are technical spinners, as I am, but I really think we get in the weeds too much sometimes about angles and such.

Your video about your spindle collection, and which you like best and why really helped me decide which spindle to buy. I got one from IST and so glad I did. I love my little spindle frim Ian so much I got another slightly bigger one from him too. Anyway, wanted to send you a hug in case you needed one. You matter and you are missed. Xxx

Wow! I have just found your podcast and am so excited about all you have to share. I am a newer spinner and hope to knit myself a sweater from handspun sometime in this year. Congratulations on your last year of teaching in the classroom. Way to go! Also, I was so encouraged by your piano playing. I, too, used to play piano and have taken some time off of regular practice. We are having a family heirloom piano restored, and I look forward to playing on it soon. Thank you for a lovely podcast!

This video came right on time :) Just started processing a Tunis/Romney/Gulf Coast Native cross fleece that is hyper crimpy, and I'm planning on using my new drum carder. Very helpful to see someone else's process before I start carding! EDIT: Watching to the end I realized you asked about the Presto loom-- the 10" was my first rigid heddle loom, and I also have a 24" Ashford loom. I like the Presto more because it has metal pawls/magnets, which feel more secure + long lasting than the plastic parts on the Ashford.
@SoulfulSpinning

Very nicely edited and put together episode. Well done with the piano, I have had my last lesson in June and I am looking forward to the September one (I am also picking up the thread - so to speak - of playing after 40 years). I have been given sheet music for piano written by William Gillock by my teacher to look at over summer - I have finally managed to have someone over to tune my piano, so I am working on that now. Wishing you a beautiful summer!

So happy to see how your gulf coast cleaned up so nicely. Your jumper is so nice. Your thoughts on using different breeds of hand spun for a single garment as I'm not sure if I have enough of any one breed to make a whole sweater, nervous about that. Nice to see your work and precious dog in the flower garden.

Carding, combing and spinning wool can be very meditative and calming. I’ll record more “slow TV” in upcoming videos. There’s another KZfaq channel called the Natural Spinner you might check out though she has not put out a video in a while her older ones are worth a watch. Hi again, Lisa I’m catching up on older videos. I enjoyed them so much. I also have a schacht flip 24 inch. I thought that would give me the most flexibility but I suspect I would use a ridged heddle a lot more if it were something I could put in my lap. Did you ever end up getting the presto loom? I’ve been checking that one out too. Im a sucker for the folding and flattening space saver features.

No, I have not bought a smaller lap loom but I think it would be so nice!

Your piano piece at the end was lovely. I also have a Lendrum DT, which has fortunately worked out great, after having done no research into the many different brands. Why did you choose to ply using an e-spinner instead of the spinning wheel? I'm still a newvbie and welcome all the information I can get in order to continue improving. Have a great vacation, looking forward to your next podcast.

Hi Desiree, thank you for your kind comment! I like to ply on my e spinner as it has a big bobbin. My Lendrum would not hold all the finished 2 ply. Also, I find plying kinda boring and the e spinner makes it go quickly. For mini skeins I usually ply on the wheel but for more fiber the espinner works great.
