Annassara is from hieroglyphs and means those who are hated by the God Ra. Islam adopted the word and put it on Christians who the Islamic religious movement was relieving the world of their oppression. Culturally, any light skinned person is called Annassara in the West because historically it is the foreign values, oppression and enslavement that light skinned people brought that can be seen as hated by the indigenous Gods of Africa. Tubabou is also used but it has a different story coming from the light skinned priests that were on a mission to bring the shrines of Tuba westward from the Nile. Hence its association with being enlightened or devout. Fulani history, like most of the people of West Africa is linked to Nile Valley culture and language so some words and perspectives are sourced there. Thank you Souley for your work. I would be interested in a video on Fulani Cosmogony and Origins and the words that still have their place in the modern language. I was born in the West from forefathers brought in enslavement West. I studied with a Master from Burkina Faso. I now live in Bobo Dioulasso and through my experiences I have found and confirmed that my Ancestors were Fulani, your work is cherished for the reconnection to the language of my Ancestors. Barka.

An'nassara in Arabic means "the Christians". It kinda makes sense, especially if you know the history of Afro-European interactions. In Burkina Faso, we also use the word "tubacudjo" for the same meaning.

I speak Fulfulde fluently but in Burkina Faso we call cat Mossoro 🐈 🤣🤣 And for white European person we call them Tobacco, but Alnsaara is an Arabic word to describe Christians. And for the car we call it many names, we call it Mobil, Lori And we call motorcycle moto which is borrowed from French, moreover there is one thing that I Want to mention which is that even in a small country like Burkina Faso we have a lot of different Fulani accents that differ from a region to another, and sometimes even in one region we have a lot of different accents just like in my hometown in sahel, we have Liptako accent and Yaga and Gelogopy and others too, so if fulfuldi can be different in one tiny country then imagine how different it will be in very far other countries. Thank God for the mericle of still understanding each other as a Fulani nation 🙏

Tobacco also is a European word for Toubib, doctor which I think Ultimately came from Arabic Mobil and Lori are both English words that spread from Nigeria and Ghana. Thanks for your insight regarding the diversity of Fulani language in Burkina and in general
