The mic set up works great the binaural recording seems a bit distorted on the harder hitting bass bits

I really like Randy but this recording doesn't seem to add as much bass bloom and sound much cleaner sounding. Is that because the microphone is closer picking up just the speaker and not as much of the room, maybe? The biggest question and one I can't answer what one sounds closer to you sitting in the room listing, Randy or mics?

With my desktop speakers, the QTC40 microphones sound clips sounded great while the binaural clips sounded awful. Just listen to the KZfaq clips yourself. What happened to your binaural recordings? They were fantastic in that April 1st 2021 shoutout video (with the same desktop speakers I'm using now). Would be interesting to get new Spatial Audio X4 sound clips with the QTC40s. Thanks for all this hard work by the way!

The Von Schweikert Audio Endeavor 3’s are by far a better spkr.

Their sound pretty close to my Canton Ergo 91DC.

The directional EarthWorks mics capture more of the speaker and less of the room. Your voice sounds more similar on the left and right vs. Randy Neumann.

Part 1 I listened closely to both the clips on this video and the binaural clips with Randy in the second video with two sets of headphones. So I’ve listened all the clips four times; each one twice in a row for each set of headphones. I listened to Randy’s clips first, then this video. I’m sad to say, but Randy, who I helped you to secure, came out far worse in the comparison. The ‘center sound’ that is, the instrument or voice one would expect to feature the most prominently in the sweet spot was muddy and distorted. Often the sounds at the edges overwhelmed the ‘center channel’ as it were; at other times the center overwhelmed and blotted out the edges, depending on the track. Perhaps this a feature peculiar to binaural microphones, but it was very obvious and very distracting. For instance, with the binaural recording, as the instruments were added, I completely lost track of the

Using two different recording methods makes it difficult for us to compare sound of the two Perlisten towers. But trust your feedback and conclusion that the benefits of the S7T over the R7T might not be worth the additional $10K. The only thing that throws me off is when you say these are great home theater speakers. What's the diff, in your thinking, between great home theater speakers and great stereo music speakers?

Part 2 finger snapping, the fingers were pushed to the edges and then out of the picture. With the microphones the snapping moved out to the edges, but I could still here the ‘snap’ as you described. Regarding the female vocals, both of them, I could not make out the words of the song. They were a bit ‘whiny’ songs, with the voices intended to blend in with the instruments, but still, they were sings lyrics which included words. I could make the words out on the microphones; although they were still difficult to distinguish from the tones emanating from the instruments. Those are the two most egregious examples of distortion / over-modulation / lack of detail that I picked up from Randy. The rest of the tracks were OK, and Randy’s version of individual instruments or small groups of instruments might have been a bit better. I’ll never forget when you debuted Randy on those Sapphire open baffle speakers. My observations held true for both sets of headphones: (1) the open backed Sennheisers (6xx Model, I can’t remember the exact model but it retailed for $100), and (2) the closed back Pryma 0/1 by Sonus Faber (lists for $499). The Sennheisers had a laidback presentation; the Sonus Faber offering was much more forward. I was listening to your KZfaq video from my iPhone 11 Pro through the Schiit Jotunheim headphone amp using the Apple camera adapter, although external power (the Apple power cable) was not employed. I haven’t listened to the R-7 sound clips, so I can’t speak to any comparison between big brother to little brother.

All right Ron, you’re not getting off that easy. I know it’s not exactly apples to apples, but you gotta tell us, S7T versus R7T versus X4? It seems like you might lean toward the R7T, so I guess it might just be R7T versus X4 as a single purchase choice.

The two mics worked well for speakers, not so much for headphones. It was a little too bright and /or vivid sounding. Plus, the sound was dead center in my head. No soundstage at all. Binaural thru the headphones was much better, but not as good as the demo of the four speakers you did a while back. That was a revelation in headphone listening for me. Some of the binaural soundstaging was missing in this demo. So I would say the two mics for speaker listening and binaural for either way.
