The thing that fascinates me about this band the most is not their music or who they sound like. It's that they are selling out shows playing loud blues based rock and roll music. That kids like it gives me hope for humanity lol.

Because it's not an SG, it's what later became the SG but at the time, and Jake's particular guitar is a 61 Les Paul. It's sort of a technicality, but you may as well get it right. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

@@djjazzyjeff1232 All that is true, but seeing as they don't make a Les Paul that is shaped like an SG now it's also very irrelevant. They were either going to buy a LP or an SG and an SG was the obvious choice, so there was no point going in to that detail

That sounded great. Perfect call on the 2x12. I agree that while the Epiphone is a great value, the whole rig would have a bit more bite with an upgraded guitar. Why is there so much controversy around what Greta Van Fleet sounds like-are classic rock sounds untouchable? I love their sound and am happy that someone new and current is pulling off playing new tunes with that sound. If a new jazz artist or blues artist comes out they play jazz or blues, but for some reason no-one in rock is supposed to sound like their classic rock influences. I don't get it. I love and wish there was more of it being played by bands today. Plus Greta Van Fleet plays an amazing live set-Saw them in concert and they blew the doors of the place and played with a ton of energy.

Andrew Pappas I think they would have a bit of a challenge on their hands. Not so much with Ed King or Gary Rossington’s rig but with Allen Collins rig. Rossington and King played a Les Paul and a Strat respectively, but Collins played a Firebird and Epiphone currently doesn’t make an affordable Firebird. He did also play an Explorer towards the end of the original lineup. The amps would be easy choices Marshalls for Gary and Allen’s rig (likely Origin series and I hope it’s the heads again like this video) and Fender for Ed Kings rig.

great video! now can we get a sound like for Alterbridge - Mark Tremonti & Myles Kennedy (BY busting the bank) Safari Song - this was exceptional! it sounded exactly like the recording so 10/10 Highway Tune - could've used more reverb/delay and maybe a wah in a certain position to get closer so 8/10 Lover, Leaver - think this one was super accurate as well so 10/10 When The Curtain Falls - could've been a tad softer and less pokey but the tone was close so 9/10

Love the idea, although Kiss wasn't and still isn't known for their guitar tone. Nothing too standout. I am a Kiss fan myself and a guitarist just to put this comment in perspective. Although they did have great talent and playing ability.

for Ace they can get an epiphone black beauty with a marshall or if they choose tommy then his signature les paul or explorer and a marshall and for Paul they should get his signature ibanez PS and a boss KT100 or Egnater Tweaker as andertons don't stock ENGL

All about headstock shape. If they would give epi’s the open book headstock, they would be flying off the shelf. Epi’s don’t look right. Call it vanity or whatever, but most guitar players are a little vein. I’m not sure if it’s a great move or terrible move by Gibson.
@Foghornish
@Foghornish 3 жыл бұрын
The woods used on the cheapest Gibsons are better than the premium Epis. Not only that, but the pickups and pots are superior also (although some Epis do come with Gibson pups/electronics). The biggest seller for me though is the finish: Nitro feels so much better. I've got 2 of the cheap Gibsons: an lp and an sg special and I've owned Epis before too. That said I think they actually made the right choice here and Epis are still great value for money.

I use the Epi G-400 Pro '66 with a Marshall DSL40C and have zero issues getting this sound. While I'm sure the 2x12 is really helpful, you can comfortably gig with a 1x12 combo and pull out these tones quite easily.

I was watching an older sounds like from like two years ago and came across a very good comment idea. It is as the guy in the comment said a long shot but why not bring in a guitarist (famous, semi famous) and let them create a rig to match their sound on a budget of 1500$, or just let them find a sound they would use for under 1500$. Seeing as a lot of famous guitarists has near unlimited budget it would be fun to see what they would do with a very limited budget to get a sound they like. You of course help find the gear in the store and give tips. It can become kind of like a top gear thing, formula one drivers trying to get the best time in that "Reasonably Priced Car".
