Nice rundown of the mics James. The 2 Neumann's mentioned at the end are still way out of my budget 😂

Out of my budget too, although you can get SM57's for about £90 (I think they are mentioned in the video) and the Rode condensers are pretty good though a decent interface, then it's kind of how you mix it really

@@ICENTUKAOS I've got an SM57 and an old se2000 condenser. Perhaps I need a new interface than a mic. Thanks for the comment David, appreciate the insight 👍

Hi James, good stuff! And yes the Nuemann U87's are one of thee most common mics used in most industry studios around the world. And the Neumann U47 fet, while it is a great vocal mic, is actually used commonly on bass drums - particulalry outside the bass drum to get the boom. If any tech heads out there want to buy a Neumann U87 a brand new one is around £2.4k BUT...so many amazing clones are out there, which are the same mic for less than half the price. You have Stam Audio 47 and you have the Peluso 47 mics as well. Both do U87 clones and 47 fet clones for way cheaper. On the Alan White subject regarding kits, he has been seen lately on his own channel using a Gretsch drum kit, but he was fond of Ludwigs as well. I believe it has him that sold it? For around 10k on Reverb? It was listed as Oasis drums. I thin he got some music auctioneer to sell it. That needs to be confirmed though. That being said it is worth knowing for any Oasis fan wondering...Ludwig and Gretsch drums are two of the most commonly used kits in studios...why? They record really well. Drums that sound good live don't always record well as they are too loud and just don't work as well. Gretsch and Ludwigs, compared to other drums for live purposes, are quieter, and they also sound amazing. Plus Alan knew his stuff about drums and he had a brother Steve White as well (Paul Weller's Drummer) who would have versed him in studio recording. Brickwalling a sound, which, for anyone unfamiliar, was something Oasis were the first to do in the UK if not globally. Again this is for those unfamiliar with what compression is, it's a commonly used device which evens out a soundwave. Because vocals and many acosutic instruments are so dynamic, meaning they go soft loud, quiet and loud, a compressor takes the soft parts and raises the volume while keeping the loudest parts of the wave at bay and not allowing those loud parts to get out of control and distort. More compression means loss of dynamic, but the sound is LOUD. That's why the Oasis sound is quite thin on the dynamcs part but LOUD, because all dynamics are sqaushed out. While for many bands this technique would have ruined them...for some reason, it worked for Oasis, because the energy of the music was, as one engineer described, as explosive as Liam and Noel's relationship, it literally captured the character of the band then. So...there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to recording. Ohhh one last thing, there are isolated drum tracks online on youtube where you can hear the entire song with each parts soloed. Listen to Alans Drums, they sound AMAZING, the records don't highlight it because of the over use of compression, but the drums sound epic. Listen to Wonderwall drums soloed. Anyway, have fun folks and James, loving the channel! Good stuff!

James...remember u said NG may have embedded a number 3 code into his "masterplan"? Well...check out what time Big Ben is at in their official video for "All Around The World"...at 1:06. How many coincidences before it becomes mathematically impossible? Also...at 6:23 it has the San Fransico bridge depicted too. In general...if u look at the official video with a keen eye you will notice a fair share of oriental design influencing many elements. I hope u take the time to check it out. All the best my man. Many thanks for your epic efforts and kindly sharing it with us all.

Hi James, Incredible and amazing video. I may ask you a question: I don't manage to find Neumann KMI 84 but I found Neumam KM 184, is It the same? Which is the correct model?

I don't think they make 84s anymore so you would have to look into the second hand market for those. 184s are an update to the classic 84s.

He says "Eventide DSP4000 pitch quantise", which was a hardware pitch tuner/mangling device that you could use on vocals and other instruments to make them more (or less!) in tune, depending on what you're trying to do.

you know, I'm pretty curious about The Congress House in Austin where the band went after the infamous LA Gig and Noel's lost weekend, and I imagine other Oasis aficionados are as well. Have you considered an episode covering it? I think I may have been living in Austin at that time but I didn't know about them.
