@@MarkEllisReviews Well it needs to be reasonably priced and wireless, but I’m aware of the shortcomings with Bluetooth technology including the bit rate. To my ears, the bowers are pretty good. Listened to a pair of Bose qc 45 and boy are they terrible - Bose really taking liberties with their brand recognition by making them look like trash to the 700’s. Got some H95’s from B&O, and they are pretty neutral sounding, but at 323g they aren’t comfortable for longer listening sessions.

I really love the Sony XM series. They are just amazing. I got my XM3 on sale last year, and I spent around the same as the US price (which is a huge win, since I live in Brazil and everything here is double the price). Anyway, they're amazing when I want to focus more or when I'm traveling by plane, definitely my 2021 best purchase.

again.. because you did not hear the other product, and yes.. you are right until you have 'different reference'.. I owe Sony, and it's just as other say: muffled, and over based with even EQ not allowing me to get proper sound separation, or gaining any 'crisp'.. simply bad designed, what can we do... Where Sony shines is 'mics' , and somewhat good wind noise handling. But this is where it stops. .. unless you pay double or tipple what you have already spend.

If you have an iPhone, I suggest messing with the music app equalizer. It will give the Q45 a better sound beyond what the soundcore app can give you. I definitely expected more from the considering the Liberty 4 NC sound great and the app even gives them way more sound options than they give the Q45.

The Sonys are almost perfect, but the plastic finish doesn't match the price. The inability to turn the earcups to both sides, extension of the earcups without locking and freedom in the joint even with new headphones. Fits perfectly on the head and ears. They have the best ANC and a great phone app. The B&W Px7 S2 don't have that great ANC or phone app. They make up for it with perfect materials and workmanship. But the sound is really a bit better and I like the physical control buttons even more. Tried Momentum 4 - sound comparable to Sony XM5, great materials and workmanship. Weaker application and little space for the ears. If the Sony XM5 were made like the Momentum 4 or B&W, they would be the best headphones in the world at this price point. So I ended up buying a B&W Px7 S2 and so far I'm very happy.

I currently have the Sennheisers 450bt and to me they sound boomy, there's little separation in sound types, the instruments are mixing together in heavy tracks and they're also lacking treble. I'm thinking of getting the PX7 2's. Will I see a big improvement on those?

I am able to get the B&W PX7 at the same price as the XM4 for $229 USD ($100 cheaper than XM5 and $50 cheaper than SH M4). What do you think is best VALUE? I cannot justify the X5 for an extra $100 so the options are really just XM4, B&W and maybe SH M4 (for $50 more). Preferences by Priority: 1) Sound 2) ANC and Battery 3) EQ Features and Comfort 4) Size and Design NOTE: please reply quickly as Sale ends in just 2 Days (on 12/31/23).

But saying the sound is enjoyable and not noticeable is not talking about the most important thing, the sound. It's a biased way to say it's worth the price, but I did not want an "it sounds good, and so do its comparisons", because that's like saying they sound the same WHEN They do NOT. I think plenty of listeners can tell the difference between the tuning, but plenty can't tell the difference between resolution and peaks and dips and imaging and technical abilities. I want to know why it sounds good and why it doesn't, even if brief. Well for all those like me or maybe even less so, and get annoyed at certain sounds and tonalities, you mostly get what you pay for for the q45, don't think it matches the xm5 at all in, when tuned the xm5 will sound better, however I guarantee there are issues with the q45 that you will care about. They are very harsh piercing and yet lacking of clarity in the upper end, they aren't producing their sound effortlessly. They sound not very natural, but you can get used to it. When comparing side by side to others, it gets worse. Don't get me wrong, the tuning for xm5 is not good either unless you are a bass head I guess; which then you are so extreme it's probably not enough. I have many subwoofers, I like a warm sound, but I don't like it muddied and stock xm5 sounds like that to me, even with some adjustments, it persists a little. The q45 are similar, but thin mids instead. The xm5 actually has more consistent sound and can be pleasant, though imaging is surprisingly good on q45's, not that it helps the unbalanced sound. If you are just slightly above the average, it will be noticeable, but you might still like it. I hear people prefer the q35, and that's probably because the sound is more natural by enough to be barely enjoyable if you are more sensitive, but still has problems being harsh and veiled, though not as bad. The q35 doesn't have ldac, so the q45 might still sound like higher quality sometimes, it depends on how sensitive you are. To me, q45 and q35 are disappointing, I genuinely prefer their p3i acoustic eq, than those headphones, by like a lot (though I use my own eq which is pretty different from that one even has more mids). I eq'd the headphones to no avail, nothing can save their unnatural sound to me. Oh, the q35 has a wider sound, so like it doesn't sound as odd.

Interesting how all the sponsored reviews on these headphones give glowing accounts of the item in question, comments like "overall they give a very good consumer pleasing sound" translated means they are slightly above average in this price range, not in any way amazing or outstanding as you will discover when you buy them and listen to them.

Soundcore is a good company. I came across them in late 2021, and bought a pair of SoundCore Liberty Air 2 Pro's on a great sale. I decided to give them a try, thinking if they were not good enough I would just return them. The sound quality of the LA2P's plus the customizability of Soundcore's App make these a great pair of earbuds, so I ended up keeping them. Sorry for my shameless promotion for another Soundcore product, but for those of us who won't fork out obscene amounts of money for some of Apple's overpriced and over-hyped products, or want to have another brand worth considering besides Bose, Sony and some of the other big names in earbuds (which are overpriced as well), then Soundcore is a brand to consider. I also own a pair of Jabra Elite Active 75T's and I actually use the Liberty Air 2 Pro's more often than the Jabras.

I am personally disappointed with the Q45. The sound is definitely improved over my Q30, but the bass and sub bass are terrible. Bland, delayed and hollow. In addition, the ANC degrades the sound quality, the support line promised to fix this in an update, but if the problem is hardware, they probably won't fix it. Sony XM3 are much better quality, even the JBL Tune 750NC, I hope something else can be done with an update.

In my opinion I agree somewhat but I doubt it's the bass hardware that is hollow. I believe it's just the tuning. The tuning of the soundcore seems less bass reliable and more neutral sounding. Well to me it does. Of course it leaves us with wanting more bass. The weird thing is the bass up option shows the q45 has a strong bass quality but your not allowed to enable that with custom eqs which is disappointed. That aside everything else is great. The mids and highs are clear and great. Anc is honest good and Better than I expected. And the transparency is good. No complains, only complain is that bass is not tuned well and is left dull. It's just the bass up option with the "soundcore signature " ruins the middles and highs that were good. With the ANC changing the sound eq, I believe it actually adds more bass in ANC and scoops out the mids more. Whereas the normal mode is more mid based and scoops some bass out. That's what I hear

The LDAC Sounds Really Good And Gives Wired Listening A Run For It's Money . We Lose Many Features Of The Life Q35 With The Space Q45 . Hopefully A Firmware Update(s) Will Give These Lost Functions To The Q45 . The Q45s Are Heavier With Much Less Cushioning On The Top Where As The Q35 Are Lighter With More Cushioning On Top So Comfort Goes To Q35 . Both Q35 And Q45 Have Excellent Sound With The Q45 Punching Hard And The Q35 Punching Harder . I Enjoy Them Both . Amazon Has Q35 111 Dollars With Discounts And Q45 129 dollars With Discounts . I didn't like how you quickly glossed over the sound quality and ANC performance parts, especially when those two are probably the biggest factors people consider when buying a pair of wireless headphones. I feel like you spent more time comparing the build quality than sound quality and ANC combined. Of course your ears will get accustomed to a $100 headphone just like it would to a $500 headphone, and even if the $100 one may sound fantastic for its price, it's still worth mentioning that it's objectively worse.

I spent 2 weeks with the Sony XM4s and XM5s… they sounded great. I loved them. But, I had serious fatigue within 2 hours. The mesh is flat inside the cup and not deep enough. So unless your ear is flat, your ear touch’s it. This bothered me after a relatively short amount of time. The QC35/45’s mesh in the cup is angled. They are much better for long sessions… at least for me. That small change on a Sony set in the future… I’m in. For now, Bose QC45s it is.

I owned the Q45s. For £99 (current price on Amazon) they were 'okay' but the sound signature is very artificial, and unnatural and trying to EQ them is an exercise in futility. Similar to their TWS buds (I have a couple of them as well). Voice quality is noticeably poorer and trying to have a call outside / next to traffic is awful for the person on the other end as you sound like you're speaking under water (the ANC just can't filter or adjust well to changing external noises well). I ended up returning the Q45s after 3 weeks as I see them as a waste of £99 and cupboard space. The comparison here should be against headphones like the CH-710/910, not the flagship stuff.

Could not agree more.. My issue with app though for PS2 is possibly a deal breaker... Fact is I have only 'so many days' to return them to Amazon.. and debating to do so or not.. I compared my PS2 to two models from Costco (that's returnable, that's obvious): Apple Max, and QC45. QC45 high spectrum sound is 'digitized'.. I thought they sound great until I started to comparing them to either Apple or PS2.. Cymbals are realistic on Apple&PS while on QC45 is digitized. Also while for some type of music I like QC45, it is 'to dry' at most cases giving you sound of 'like synthesizer' rather than like 'base guitar'... I'm not even mentioning horrible performance of background noise reduction while walking next to busy street with cars - simply you can't hold conversation. Also wind handling by QC45 is 'non existing'... PROs for QC45 are 2: 1. Noise reduction (superb, as close at is gets if not better as on Max), 2. Comfort. Unbitable by either Apple Max, or PS2. ... Yet PS2 are 'comfortable enough' with 'not bad' (but not excellent) NC.. yet for wind handling, sound and background noise reduction I simply love them.. Am thinking maybe it makes sense to keep them hoping in future they will fix their app.. I believe it's a part of technological wars, so changing Android version is nothing else but a tool to kill your opponents like B&W in US where they have best price for this performance.. I don't like Sony that sounds muffled..

@@zawaprz I think the Q45 sound is more refined. The sound is more balance. The bass has improved after the firmware update. After trying on and using a cheaper headphone, if it is really that good, i would buy it. But until now i always saw some kind of compromise in these cheaper headphones (after buying them) and also phones. Like okay it has the screen and the cpu of the flagship, but it doesnt have a good camera etc. Of course there is a Sony tax on the XM5 but there is a reason why it is said to be one of the best headphones. I sold it yesterday, because it was not comfortable for me, but the technology itself was really good. You should try the Sennheiser Momentum 4, i just bought it, it has 60 hours of playback time, Sony level anc, ambient is a little below Sony. The sound is really good and it is cheaper, it is "only" 350usd. I dont know why you are always empathizing that you hate touch controls, but on the Momentum 4 it is at least a 4x4 cm area, where you can touch and it is really responsive, on the XM3 it was a nightmare, but these new touch controls are really nice. I think it is a lot easier to touch that area, than trying to find a 2mmx10mm pause button, that you can only press while holding the headphone with your palm, otherwise you just push off the headset. The momentum 3 had this issue, after using it for a while i really missed the Sonys touch controls, and i am glad the momentum 4 has touch controls. Swiping and touching is a lot faster and easier, than searching and gripping the heaphone, then pressing the button. And while you can do easily 4 types of motion with touch, the buttons mostly work with double or triple press which again requires practice to use effectiely. If i eat for example, i dont have to use my fingers to get my headphone dirty, i can swipe with the back of my hand, there is a lot of potential in touch controls, years back i also hated them because lot of times they didnt work, but now they do. I am really curious, why dont you like these controls? The video was great btw, it is good to now that there are cheap good options, even if i dont buy them there is something i can recommend to my colleges or friends who doesnt want to spend a lot of money for heaphones.

In isolation, there isn’t. No one sits there A/B testing headphones. Depending on what you’re comfortable spending and your brand preference, you will be equally happy with any of these headphones. I do not like the elitism that always crops up within the comments threads of my headphone reviews. It’s such a shame.

@@MarkEllisReviews I don't think I agree with this one. I don't need A/B testing to hear how mediocre the sound quality I'm getting from my QC35 II whenever I'm putting them on for the convenience of being wireless. They lack a lot of details and sound a bit muddy. I haven't heard Q45 yet but it sounds rather unbelievable to not hear a clear difference in sound quality compared to XM4/5 and PX7 S2. Anyway, thanks for another interesting review and keep doing a great job! 👌 Looking forward to your further honest and unbiased reviews!

Soundcore as good as the XM5s and PX7s? You just killed the credibility of your entire channel....

My entire channel? Oh DAMMIT. We’ll it was nice while it lasted. Thank you for preventing me from making any more of a fool of myself. What’s next, though? I’m thinking vlogging but purely from the toilet seat. A ‘musings while I’m dropping the kids off at the pool type affair’. What do you think?

@@MarkEllisReviews Not sure why you're being so defensive. If you get freaked out by comments by members of the public, don't post any public videos.

But… then… I’d have no business and have to go back to doing real work.
