He had 7 kids though.. I wouldn't say cowardly but selfish definitely.. I have a son who i named Chester and he is my reason for living, i could never bring so much pain to him knowing his dad would rather die than be there for him, i loved the guy but i just wish he had thought more of his children than letting the demons take over and win.

@@MirageMusicUkChester had 4 legitimate children, 1 who had an inconclusive dna test but still accepted as a son, 1 adopted son, and a niece that he had guardianship over until she went to college. He gave these kids more love than anyone would know. And I hate how people single him out for that when other suicides involve people with children as well.

A bigger reason he ended it was because the criticism of one more light. He put his soul into that album and people drug it into the dirt and spit on it. He loved that album.
@Aric_EPU
@Aric_EPU 25 күн бұрын
@@DOOMWRLD2007It’s entirely possible that did play a minor role in it but the saddest part is that we will never know what was going on in his head. They found alcohol in his system and he has been quoted in interviews that alcohol makes his condition so so so much worse like exponentially. He has also said he is at his worst when he is alone. He’s experienced hate for the music especially with albums like Minutes to Midnight and especially A Thousand Suns, one could argue that there was more volatility with ATS than OML. Logically, he arrived to his home with only the housekeeper there, went to his room, he was alone and still in the early stage of grief of the death of essentially his brother Chris Cornell, and the fact that it was Chris’ birthday and THEN add the alcohol to the mix and you have a quadruple wombo-combo of SEVERE instability and depression that is almost impossible to recover from. I mean the dude woke up, got on a plane to go do the photo shoot for the band, got home and killed himself. He couldn’t have been awake for even like 6 hours before everything got to him. Suicide is extremely regretted if you read any words of people who survived their attempts, the regret is almost instantaneous but Chester died quite literally instantly. No time to take it back or regret it.
@micah4973
@micah4973 25 күн бұрын
@@DOOMWRLD2007 I don't get how you can criticize OML. Normally, this isn't my type of music. But just the lyrics and the way Chester sings them make this album so special.

Having been in that dark place myself as a parent, I can confirm- You, at some point sometimes, feel like everyone else would be better off if you weren't around messing up everything for them. It sucks and it's hard to get yourself out of, especially in my case where I had a significant other at the time who definitely added fuel into that. In my eyes, I was ruining his life and the lives of the kids, so why did I need to be here anymore. I've come a long way from that point in my life, due to a lot of hard work and therapy. But I don't let myself forget that I've been in that spot before too and I understand that feeling.

@@Kiertiana Same, but also my family always called me useless and stupid, so I was totally shocked when they were upset after finding out I was trying to kill myself. People are so blind to the words they say and care more about their own emotional release than the impact it will have to the other person. I'm still depressed off and on, and it never really goes away. I'm not sure when this cloud began to hover over me, but I know I felt it's gentle rain when I was 8 years old.

Chester had a terminal illness. For some people they never find the thing that works for them. There is no way to escape the pain. He wasn’t a coward. He was tired. Tired of hauling that pain around every day. He didn’t want to leave his family, his band or his fans. He just had no fight left in him. He left a beautiful legacy behind him and I’m grateful for that legacy. Listening to Numb in early 2008 literally saved my life. Leaving a relationship with a narcissistic sociopath, homeless with a 6 month old baby….. “tired of being what you want me to be” gave me the strength to not return and build MY life with my son. My son is 17 now and he knows how Chester saved my life and helped him have a life away from the abuse of his father. Chester was strong but he was tired. And we love him still.

People always think that by leaving a situation the abuse is over. It just changes instead, instead of another inflicting it upon you, you do it to yourself because that is all you've known for that period of time. Even then, it doesn't go away the voices do come back and it is a mental battle to fight against that. The abuse doesn't go away, it comes in goes in different periods of time and people just learn to cope with it. Sometimes people become much stronger due to it, others just manage to survive, and some the will and desire to fight just burns out from you. Chester is no coward, he was fighter till he could no longer fight.

I've suffered from very serious depression for about 20 years. I've been all the way to the bottom many times. Total, inescapable, inky black despair, where the emotional pain is so acute it triggers terrifying hallucinations, makes your heart race, your body burn up like you're on fire, your hands shake uncontrollably, prevents you from even being able to stand. You're just desperate to black out and for it all to be over. Yes, that's an attack. An acute depressive episode. A particularly bad day. But even on the best days, it's tough. The black dog of depression is always growling at the door, the slippery spiral is always trying to pull you into that lonely, pitch black dungeon again where there is not a pin prick of hope's light. Severe depression like this is not a fun place. I know Chester knew that place. But yet, he powered through it, again and again, to record hit albums, go on world tours, perform to millions of fans, and make Grammy winning music that lives in the hearts of people to this day and will for a long time yet. He gave everything he could before it took him down. That's no coward, that's a warrior. RIP Chester. 🖤

I used to subscribe to the idea that suicide was the coward's way out. My outlook started to change when my best friend took his own life. He was always a strong individual, so I started to think, "How hard must this be to fight if he couldn't do it?" Then I went through my own bout of that deep, heavy depression. I never became fully suicidal, but I did have a lot of ideation. It was then I realized that the pain and hopelessness is in fact overwhelming. And I could see how and why people take their own lives, because while you're going tbrough it, all you want is for it to end. I was lucky enough to pull myself through it before I lost the fight. Not everyone is so lucky.

I was never a Linkin Park fan, but I respect the hell out of that band. I know a lot of folks that wouldn't be alive because of the relatability of their lyrics. When he left this world, I felt the massive loss, and that is someone who is not a fan. I hope he's happier, his war, ended

The hardest part of the music was listening to it now after his death. It feels like maybe he was screaming for help for so long, and no one listened.

Major depressive here; Though I wish he pulled through it, suicide isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength. It’s a result of fighting with everything you have, but ultimately losing. The focus should be on the amount of time you spent fighting, not the moment it beat you. Xx R.I.P. Chester. You’ll forever live on within our hearts.

I never see suicide as cowardice, because it inheritly goes against basic survival instincts to going directly to the end result. It is always deeper than people assume what somebody goes through.

I sadly can relate to Chester's depression, and I have been able to move on and I'm better now, but I was in a dark place for so long and it was LP and Slipknot who helped save me I find so many songs of both bands so relatable and for me they were that fix that worked for me

That is so sad that so called fans had the nerve to call him weak. He gave so much of himself to everyone. So much so that it cost him and his family his own life. That anyone would still say that he owes you anything after all ends is weak and selfish on your own part. Everyone is fighting their own battle. I’m some way or another, Chester actually helped you in your fight, without you even knowing it…after giving so much of himself, what did he have left for his own fight? No one knows or even cared. Until it was too late. His family and real fans are mourning. They don’t need your negative, selfish thoughts. RIP Chester.
