Link-up of Sour Milk Gill, Seathwaite Upper Slabs & Gillercombe NE Buttress.
Sour Milk Gill: easily accessed from the farm this route is a mixed bag of pleasant gayly scrambling. The ground varies between grade I - III, but you can avoid the areas of III on grade II alternatives. Very fun, but only to be tried after a prolonged dry spell!
The Upper Slabs are a short single pitch section of rock that goes at II/III. An easy solo for the average rock climber or a nervous epic for the unprepared... it's very easy to circumvent the slabs in favour easier ground approaching Gillercombe Buttress.
From the wall the NE Buttress of Gillercombe Buttress is easily approached directly from below. An easy rising traverse of the left hand side of the spur up to half way gives pleasant rock at grade III in places. It is however easily avoided to the crest of the rib at II. The top section poses little challenges that the climber doesn't choose to walk into - grade II max.
