Very interesting. I had no idea that S.A owned 2 other beautiful islands. As I'm sure most other people are unaware.

There appear to be a couple of interesting astrophysics experiments on Marion Island; Probing Radio Intensity at high-Z from Marion (PRIZM) and Array of Long Baseline Antennas for Taking Radio Observation from Sub-Antarctic (ALBATROS) per Wikipedia.

We, here in Canada, also have a province called "Prince Edward Island" (singular), and it was named after the same prince (the 4th son of George III). Being the 4th son of a king will usually relegate you as a footnote in history and your descendants will eventually be considered a commoner, given time. So why would anyone name an island after a prince of such insignificance? After all, there's no chance he will ever become king. Right? Well, that's true. But in this case, it should probably be mentioned that he is actually the father of Queen Victoria ... now there's a name we all know! (Prince Edward, her father, died in 1820, a year after she was born.)
