Before closing the hearing, the ICJ has put a question to the Israeli delegation about humanitarian conditions in its declared “evacuation zones” in Gaza.
Judge Georg Nolte read the question: “Can Israel provide information about the existing humanitarian conditions in the designated evacuation zones, in particular al-Mawasi, and how it would ensure safe passage to these zones, as well as the provision of shelter, food, water, and other humanitarian aid and assistance to all evacuees that are and can be expected to arrive in these zones?”
Israel has been asked to submit a written reply to the question no later than tomorrow, May 18, at 4pm, the court said.

Bravo South Africa. Shameful that the UK the USA, who were both very late in supporting Nelson Mandela, have not learned anything from that time. Israel is undoubtedly committing war crimes.They are an occupying force and treat Palestinians as 2nd class citizens. Their bombing and destruction of almost the whole of Gaza, and the deaths of tens of thousands of children women and men is utterly horrific and totally disproportionate to the horrible events of Oct 7th. It's genocide. We need an immediate ceasefire and a United Nations peacekeeping force to help spread aid and medical supplies to the 1and half million Palestinians who are now homeless and starving. All the hostages on both sides should be released on the first day of a permanent ceasefire. The whole world is watching, but only South Africa has the guts to challenge Israeli aggression!

On October 13, Herzog collapsed the principle of distinction and declared that “unequivocally, it’s an entire nation out there that is responsible,” making all Gazans legitimate targets. Chikli was referenced by South Africa’s lawyer at the hearing in The Hague in January for considering that dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza was an option and stating we “must find ways to cause suffering in Gaza.” So much for loving life.

Even in our own country, some opposition parties wanted us to cut ties with Russa (an important trade partner - who I still understand was wrrong to do what they did) when Ukrne was lnvaded. Some even travelled all the way to Ukrne to show solidarity. Those specific parties are the ones keeping quiet regarding the gnoclde. Some members were even demoted or kiccked out for mentioning the suffring of the PaIestinians. Before the October 7th attack South Africa has been involved in various peace missions sending our military to aid in conflicts in some parts of Africa, research and you'll find it. The ICJ cannot compare in terms of appropriate aid where in Africa military or monetary aid is needed which our budget for our military is constraint as it is and our safety and security is at risk as well and our economy is struggling. The least we can do should be sufficient as a developing African country your blame should soley lie with European Developed countries that enslaved and colonized Congo and other parts of Africa looted resources and persons for generations and left an environment rife for poltical instability which results in varoius socio-economic issues!

I'm pretty sure the court won't go as far as to instruct Israel to halt its operations in Rafah, but surely they'll criticise them for the pathetic amount of humanitarian aid available to the Palestinians and will order them to greatly increase their efforts by opening a land crossings. If this is the case then you can bet Israel will respond by accusing the panel of being the legal arm of Hamas, and cast all kinds of aspirations on the lead judge who is Lebanese.
