You can't really approach Mamamoo like you do other kpop girl groups. They're more of a BTS than a Blackpink. They contribute to their art (their rapper is the most credited female idol and writes all her own stuff). They're very mature artists who have mature concepts. They do their own thing. They're strong, powerful, independent women who are all incredible artists in their own right. And they are the best vocalists in the industry and they have a vast and varied discography. They competed on (and WON) Queendom and one of the judges heard Hwasa sing (who, btw, is their third best singer technically--though stylistically, it's a matter of preference) and said she was too good to be a kpop girl group singer. And it's true. They all are. Even the rapper Moonbyul is an incredible singer. They're older than most groups, they all are in it for the music and have a lot of their own work. They also are known as great live performers who really engage the crowd and they don't really rely on dance (though Wheein and Moonbyul are both amazing dancers who do dance covers sometimes). Anyway, it's not just about a visual feast (though they ARE a visual feast), it's about the art with them. I hope you'll check them out more!!
