The 1982 UNCLOS agreement with a 200 mile EEZ are causing these problems. Before 1982 no country cared about these tiny islands or reefs. Before 1982 countries were only allowed 12 miles territorial waters and anything beyond was considered international waters. It all about the fishing rights and oil resources. Before 1982 China could legally fish in these waters because there was no 200 miles EEZ only 12 miles territorial waters. Get rid of the 1982 UNCLOS agreement and all these problems will disappear.
