In this video we see the MBTA testing the Middleboro Secondary Line between Middleboro and Taunton, MA. Trains got up to speed and that is seen in addition to some moves at the new Middleboro Station.

Was the wye in Taunton not reinstalled. Seems like the cab used heading toward Myrics changes? Or is it just how you videoed it?

The wye was installed but the train didn’t use it as the entire video was filmed between Middleboro and Taunton. The trainset is flipped because they took a normal set out of Middleboro Layover.,

So will the New Bedford and Fall River lines have to share a single track for some portion of their trip?

Yes, there’s single track between Middleboro and Taunton.

The south coast rail is mainly single track, except at myrick junction. The rest that are double tracked is one for commuter rail service and one for freight service. At least this is what I was told.

@@SouthCoastRailVideos that's gonna be rough, basically means trains to FR, trains out of FR, trains to NB, and trains out of NB all have to share the same track. how frequently do you think trains will be leaving FR for Phase I?

It most definitely isn’t single track except junctions. There’s additional sidings on both lines and freight bypass tracks as well. As for train frequency I’m not 100% sure but I assume it’ll be the current amount of trains to Middleboro split to either FR or NB.

@@SouthCoastRailVideos, right; I work in Berkley, and CSX freight trains were still regularly using those tracks. I can often tell what kind of train is in the area by the sound of the horn.
