+1 for Skogafoss. Good tip to go up the steps. But dont stop there. Go through the gate at the top and hike along the river to see more amazing falls and beautiful vistas. And, you'll likely have the to path to yourself (well, and some sheep). Was one of the top experiences of my trip.

I'm proud of my Icelandic ancestry. When you are in the south you should visit the turf houses at Keldur! My great-great grandfather built the church there. Everybody should root for Iceland football in this years Euros! Afram Island!

Just returned from a Winter, South Iceland trip. So excited to have hit 6 of 7 of these wonderful sites. Weather and ice prevented us from hiking behind Seljalandsfoss and climbing the path for an arial view of Skogafoss. Snowy, icy conditions prevented us from seeing Skaftafell. We loved our lunch in Vic... AND we were treated spectacular views of the Northern Lights. I love your channel. Not sure why I am only tripping over this Tube from 4 years ago, now. Thanks for doing what you do.

Soooo glad I went to all of them (except Svartifoss, but at Skaftafell I went to see the glacier.) You can also go to see Myraldsjokoll. (and even step on it, its just after the parking lot of the famous airplane)

My husband and I just did a road trip along the south coast two weeks ago and absolutely loved it. We timed it so that we were at Dyrholaey at sunset and the view was magnificent. We also went to Solheimajokull (short detour between Skogafoss and Vik), and that was probably my favorite stop of the day. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone traveling this route.

We added a stop at the LAVA Centre in Hvolsvöllur, 1+ hour out of Rekjavik: a thorough and enjoyable exhibition that explains the geology behind everything else you'll be seeing.

We just got back, drove to Vik twice, spent hours at Reynisfjara, then was too dark to see Skogafoss (my knees said 'no way' to the stairs but my kids went all the way up) and the other one that I won't attempt to spell let alone pronounce so thank you for doing it for me. Loved visiting! Thanks for all the tips!

Me in Iceland: First Must See Place in this video "Cool, that's pretty impressive". Second "Wow". Third "OMG". Fourth: Words fail, jaw literally drops, tears form, hooked on Iceland for life. (btw, I was at the stone arch in this video when a flock of puffins flew up and around me when this happened)

Iceland is a photographer's paradise. Many unique images can be gotten. Today a growing form of photography is aerial photography made possible by drones. What information can you share, as a travel advisor, on the use of drones at the many stops you have recommended?

The best, most amazing place in Iceland is Fjaðrárgljúfur. It looks like a CGI thing - somebody designed a place for a movie.. doesn't look real at all. We went there twice during a 2 week trip.

We're flying into Keflavik at 6:30am -- mid August (we have 6 days). We are thinking of driving straight from the airport south, and going along the coast, but we only want to go as far as the Black Beach. We do not want or have the time to do the whole ring road. We want to travel back towards the Golden Circle, from the Black Beach area... What route do you recommend to see different places from what we plan on seeing on the way to the Black Beach? on the way will stop to see: Seljalandfoss, Skogafoss, Dyrholaey, and Reynisfjara…. Thanks so much....

What do you think about Fjallsárlón glacier? I heard that it might be better if doing a zodiac boat ride since it’s less crowded and quieter than Jökulsárlón. Thanks for all of your info!

Long drive, Vik is 3 hours, Jokulsarlon another 2-3 depending on conditions. Either fly in or drive and stay the night. Nice drive though

If you keep walking down the path past Seljalandsfoss there is a wonderful canyon you can go inside with a beautiful waterfall. (Gljúfrabúi)

We happened to find this when we were there in 2019 and it was stunning. We walked into the cave and got soaked by the waterfall spray. It is truly a "hidden" gem and so close to the tourist attraction waterfall everyone comes to see. Look at Seljalandsfoss and turn left, walking about 5 minutes along the cliff face until you hit the stream that comes out of the cave. Enter at risk of getting wet socks.

Is it possible in February to go from Rejkvick to the Glacier Beach in a day? I know the daylight is short... :/

Tracy Calvino in theory yes you can. I would say it’s a 4.5 - 5 hour drive each way, so you would need to start your journey several hours before dawn, and spend a lot of the day driving (without any daylight to see the many other sights along the way). Weather may also be an issue, but winter tyres are fitted to all hire cars and I believe the south coast gets the least snow. A good thing about February is that you have the chance to be there at dawn or dusk, which must be spectacular in fine weather.

Hi @@BrunaAlvesRibeiro09 You're going to be driving for pretty much 10 hours, but you do get 12 hours of daylight from 21 March and you could leave Reykjavik well before dawn, but it's going to be a very long day. The glacier lagoon and diamond beach are totally worth the drive, but if you want to stop at a few of the other sites on the way back, you will probably want to allow an hour each (most of them are fortunately very close to route 1). It's a good road all the way, so i personally wouldn't bother with a 4x4 (there are lots of routes where you really do need one) but you never know with the weather

Garry Bye Thank you for your answer! I booked a hotel in Reykjavik for all the 7 days I’ll be there. I think I made a mistake not booking one night in Vik. Is there a solution?

@@BrunaAlvesRibeiro09 We stayed near Selfoss for our visit and i will definitely stay in several places next time - it's a long way round the ring road. Vik is a perfect spot to stay roughly half way from Reykjavik to glacier lagoon.

Have you ever walk on the Hjörleifshöfði? I visit it and the graveyard above in June this year... and it was AMAZING!
