It's always good to head south to run a trapline but this time, we faced the challenge of the goannas. Queenslanders can usually beat their footballers known as the "Cockroaches" but could my team beat their big lizards?

Hi Clarke, not always the case for reciprocal respect. We had constructed a block 6 new quarters all under the one roof, with each room having its own ensuite. They had a large enclosed open area between the two sets of rooms. At the entrance was a set of homemade strong doors with mesh insert at the top half to keep insects out. After they left we found they had been using the door and mesh for target practise with a paint ball gun. Another husband and wife team at one of our other properties had a beautiful new home to live in. They were managers as we were on another property. They had a good Toyota LC trayback and we had left them with several spare tyres. On a visit we found a heap of destroyed tyres and the Toyota bashed about. They enjoyed chasing pigs so our vehicle was the means to do so. Just a couple of our experiences, on the plus side we have and still have some excellent staff. With the rural staff position so stretched unfortunately we had to risk it with some workers, thats why your black and white, ours are red, offsides have become so important mustering. Thanks for your videos.

Thanks again Clarke, we have some problems with dogs here in the mid north of S.A. and your informative videos teach us all valuable lessons. Respect your views on deer too, if only the powers to be, opened their collective minds to sustainable management of our resources.

It warms my heart to see that no matter where you are in the world some things are always the same. When I was a boy we would go fishing down at the pond and those murderous horseflies would stab you in the back and it felt like an ice pick. There was no better feeling than sticking a large piece of grass in their bung hole and watch them slowly lose altitude across the pond until they hit the water and a largemouth bass would come up and eat them. The satisfaction is undescribable. Thank you for another wonderful show, I look forward to it every week.

That's home country for me. Beautiful part of the world - biggest problem back then at least was people not taking care of their dogs. Occasionally a stray would come around and try to lure away a farm dog. Sooner or later there would always be another pack to do horrific things to the cattle. Unfortunately, my old man thought 160 years of family history was less important than being in the bottom of every bottle he could find, so it's all gone now. I can't describe how depressing it is for a country boy to be stuck in the city...

Interesting to see a Koel this far south already. Down here in Lake Macquarie we don't usually see them until the last week of September/early October. Seems the season is starting early this year. Our cicadas aren't calling yet though. LOL - Just noticed at the start this was filmed back in January - no wonder the cicadas were going off & you saw that Koel !
