Which country within EAC lacks pockets of fairly worrying insecurity perhaps with the exception of Tanzania and possibly Rwanda? DRC, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, etc are all prone to one kind of worrying insecurity or another. Rebels, thugs, violent religious zealots, tribal warriors, bandits of undefined characters, cattle rustlers, etc.

Where in EAC member states is there peace in its absolute form? Only Tanzania and perhaps Rwanda may have such bragging rights. The rest have all sorts of issues spreading from cattle rustling and killings, some tribal conflicts, violence from organized gangs, etc. DRC conflict has a potential of conflating into a regional war. Whatever contribution a country makes to mitigate against such development is a worthwhile venture and should be welcome.

It is! Eastern DRC is very complex with the potential of blowing into a regional conflict. What was that again about some conflict in South Sudan? Jong what versus what?? That is a local conflict which ought to be contained by the police and paramilitary police units. To bring in the national army to solve some local tribal conflict between Jonglei and another tribe would be an overkill. Allow the police to do its work

what I'm trying to say is that Belgium colonize both countries, and made big mistakes during its colonial period. Leave both countries knocking their head on the wall .actually the Tutsi Congolese before colonial land was Rwanda. But Belgium cut them Kongo and became part of Congo. Just take a simple example of your country Kenya, the Somali own land. You can't chase them out of that place they have rights like any citizens.

@@estajeanette7487 petition your country to exit. DRC itself begged to join EAC and the Treaty states that they will form one army. If you don't like this Treaty you simply get signatures from your people and begin the process to exit. I wish someone did the same for Tanzania to exit. USA is powerful because independent States joined to form one big Super Power. Small little weak economies can exit and let the big boys develop without slowing them down. On your way out know that Ethiopia, Somalia and Zambia have an interest to join. When your countries leave there is space for more to join.

Congo did not join the east African federation it only joined the east African community. That means congo did not sign to be part of that future country. @@estajeanette7487 that clearly indicates that you haven't read the Treaty to understand how it works. EAC Treaty of 2000 has 4 pillars that are being implemented succeesively. Customs Union, CMP, Monetary Union and Political Federation which is the one EACRF falls under. You cannot chose what part you want to follow in a consitution and which part you don't want to obey. DRC knew that Uganda and Rwanda are part of EAC, but still applied to join. So if you have incompetent leaders that don't know how to read a Treaty in terms of who are members, as I said before, exit and keep your incompetence back at home. A country like Kenya is using its own money and citizens to come and die in a war of none appreciative citizens who have the option to leave. For over 30 years there is serious progress, but you still belittling people who have put their lives on the line. This illetracy of Africans opposing every attempt to unite people for prosperity then blaming the West is an archaic blame game that you should stop spreading. Get with the programme in the Treaty, or ship out of the community and enjoy killing each other without spreading your negative energy.

Yes, I too don't even understand what was going on in some people's heads. Blaming? You mean what DRC is saying about Rwanda is not true. Kenya and EAC don't even respect congo. The Congolese government said it does not want any Rwandais forces in any peacekeeping mission in the DRC but the Kenyan EAC forces smuggled Rwandais soldiers in the DRC. You can see them standing among Kenyan soldiers when they were talking to the m23 in kibumba.

There is no country within EAC that has no fire of one kind or another burning in their backyard with the exception of, Tanzania and perhaps Rwanda. That should not stop us from setting up interventionary regional peace keeping initiatives. You don't have to be perfect to help your friend adjust his collar! For your information, there is no country within EAC that has a good dose of internal peace, except, perhaps Tanzania and Rwanda. If it is not cattle rustling, it is some tribal conflict. Or you might come across some tribal misunderstanding. Organized gangs too, are very active in these countries. South Sudan's offer to participate in stabilizing Eastern DRC should be welcome. Life is about chewing gum as you scale the stairs.

South Sudan? What for? Their own country is at war. Let them fix that first. The people who live in juba are living in a worse condition then the poorest Congolese in congos war torn and poorest provinces. Please let them not come. They might stay and not want to go back home because there is no food in south Sudan.
