Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi is expected to visit China after a highly anticipated meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. On the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in Thailand, the leaders reportedly discussed a range of issues during 36-minute talks described as an important diplomatic step forward between the two nations.

They are smiling because they know they have a position of power now and they can inflict damage on Japan if they feel like it. Chinese and Japanese culture exchange began from Han Dynasty (202 BC - 9 AD, 25-220 AD). But may be earlier as Qin Shi Huang (Chinese: 秦始皇; 259-210 BC) sent Xu Fu with 3000 boys and 3000 girls to Japanese islands. After Xu Fu embarked on a second mission in 210 BC, he never returned.

A very nice possible milestone in relations between China and Japan. But how genuine is hard to gauge. As China still has deep animosity and concerns over Japan's strategic soft (and now moreso hard) power links with the Western World's geopolitical intentions. Against China's intetests.
