I made a video for the Ergobaby Embrace back in 2020, when the Embrace first came out, but I wanted to improve on it. So here’s a redone version!
Using the Ergobaby Embrace carrier for a front carry - two different methods. Video made with a newborn-sized doll; demonstrating how to adjust and perform safety checks.
Method one (rolling the waistband over): 0:00
Method two (sitting waistband high): 6:23
If you’d like further help with your baby carrier, I offer one-to-one consultations - online and in person - message me if you’d like to discuss options

Love your videos Roamy! I use the first method for my 8lb 2.5 week old but the top of the panel always ends above her ear, almost eye level, so I’m not sure she has enough space to breathe well. 19in tall so not tiny… how can I get the top of the panel to come lower on her? (More like ear level) Thank you!

Thanks for your message. So the higher you put the waistband on your torso, the shorter the panel will sit on your baby. This is because - when it's worn higher - some of the panel is then between you and baby before it curves round and up over their back. If you watch the second method - with the panel unrolled - you'll see what I mean about the panel going between you and baby. The same is true when using the waistband folded over twice. Play about with how high you fit the waistband on your torso. Then hold baby with their head on your upper chest, so their bottom is slightly over the panel - not resting above it. The more of the panel that's between you, the shorter the panel that goes over their back will be. Hope that helps!

Great demo! Do you have any favourites? Also any c section friendly ones? I’m struggling to pick one at the moment. So far split between babybjorn mini and this one

Carriers are like jeans; they fit everyone differently. This is why - ideally - it’s best to try out a few different options to see which suits you best. I honestly don’t have favourites. It hugely depends on the person’s body shape, flexibility and also their own personal preference. Happy to do a video call to help narrow down options for you, based on your requirements and build - plus age of baby

If you visit my website and click on ‘Consultancy’ it’ll show you various options for video calls. You can book a call either before baby is here, or once they arrive. There are pros and cons of both. Generally booking before baby arrives is best, as it’s easier to concentrate when you’re not juggling with feeding/changing baby. But it’s totally up to you. I demo carriers with weighted demo dolls and have various sizes so if you want to see how a carrier works with a smaller baby I can show that too

Thanks for your question. The Ergobaby generally fits nicely from around 7lb (3.175kg) so should fit your little one now. Firstly, make sure you’re rolling the waistband AND wearing it a bit higher, so some of the material is between you and your baby before it curves up over their back. The higher the waistband, the shorter the panel will be over their back. So play about with different heights for the waistband. This may well solve the problem, as the panel will likely be short enough if you’ve got a decent amount of fabric between you and baby. If it doesn’t, ping me another message.

Hello :) My baby is 2 and a half months old -58 cm,6 kg.I tried the short position for newborns,but it’s not reaching the neck of the baby.Will it be unhealthy for my baby’s legs to wear it without bending it.Thank you ❤

Thanks for your message. As soon as baby’s torso is too long for the rolled waistband you can unroll it. You only need it rolled when they are little. Watch the second part of the video to see how to use it unrolled, with the waistband high. Some babies that have long torsos need it worn like this from birth. The higher you put the waistband on you, the shorter the panel will be. So you can choose what height is right for your baby. The fabric is soft and can be cinched in to fit baby’s legs comfortably. You want it to fit from one knee to the other - so the lower leg can swing freely. Ideally bottom below knees. Hope that helps!

I struggle getting my baby in the carrier because she likes to move her head a lot and move a her body a lot so its hard for me to keep a tight grip, and I end up needing help putting the Carrier on, maybe I just need more practice, shes 4 weeks old, but any advice?

Thanks for your question. So first of all, take your time. Then here are a few tips: Try to support baby under their bottom, rather than across their back. This may feel counter-intuitive but - if supported under their bottom - their knees will likely tuck up and they'll curl their body against you. If you support them across their back or tummy, their legs and head will go backwards and they'll be hard to support. I find using my chin to gently support baby's head, while supporting them with one hand under their bottom, can help too. You may find sitting down to do this the first few times will help, as you can lean slightly backwards (which helps support baby against you). Make sure you slide the panel of the carrier up from the waistband - over their bottom, their back, then up to their shoulders. This means you're supporting them at all times. When holding them in the carrier - before doing it up - rest your hand across their shoulders, rather than holding them under their bottom or across their back. This will help them feel secure. Hope those tips help!

Always seems like there’s too much space in the front and when I tighten he gets upset we’re so tight
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings Жыл бұрын
Do you mean too much space on the top edge? If so, bring the straps a little wider over your shoulders to tighten the top edge With the tightening, ensure little one has knees tucked up towards you, with a gentle curve to their spine, before fully tightening. Also ensure you’re bringing the slack from behind - so when you tighten you’re tightening the slack in the straps, rather than pulling little one’s stomach towards you. Hope that helps!

My LO refuses to keep his knees up when I try to put him in a carrier or wrap. He is 57cm and 4,7 kilo. Feeling a little desperate 😔

Knee position is not a safety issue. As long as little one has clear airways and is held securely, so they can’t slump, they are safe. Look at little one’s position when held in arms. Does he curl his knees up or is he quite straight? There are lots of reasons why baby may be straighter and also things you can do to encourage a more comfortable/ergonomic position for them: 1) Think about how you’re holding little one in your arms. Are they held across their back or under their bottom? If you can support them under their bottom, their body is likely to curl in towards you. This gives a gentle curve to their spine and their knees will naturally curl up. 2) Similarly, when bringing the carrier up over baby’s back, slide the panel from under their knees, up to their shoulders (as shown). You don’t need to support their bottom or back - just lightly rest your hand against their shoulders to support them while you do the carrier up. 3) Once you’ve put baby in, the key checks are: does baby have clear airways with carrier top edge no higher than earlobes? Are they held securely so they can’t slump? Once you’ve checked these don’t instantly feel you need to adjust positioning too, unless baby is unsettled. Check they look comfy (eg legs aren’t going backwards, back isn’t arching) then go for a little walk around the room. Babies like movement! If you do want to adjust their knee/leg position you can gently adjust to bring the knees higher and round in towards you (as shown). As said above, this can help to give a gently curve to their spine and allows their head to naturally rest against you. It also takes any pressure off their tummy which - especially if they’ve just fed - is likely to be more comfy for them. Hope that all helps! If you want to book a video call to go over everything in person feel free to get in touch.
