The last time I made this recipe, I followed one of my awesome subscribers’ recipes, and it came out FIRE! This time around, I’ve put my own spin on this classic just to level it up some. Check out the ingredient list below to try this out for yourself!
Level of Difficulty: 1/5
Southern Banana Pudding
4cps.Milk
1 1/3 cp. Sugar
6 tbs. Cornstarch
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 Eggs
2 Egg yolks
4 tbs. Butter
4 tsp. Vanilla extract
4 large Bananas, sliced
1 container Whipped Topping or homemade
1 large box Vanilla Wafers(reserve 1/2 cup crushed wafers for topping)

I didn't have any cornstarch. So I substitute all purpose flour, and it works pretty good

I made this, layered with bananas on each layer, as well as the wafers...and took a bite and completely melted inside! I couldn't believe I made my 1st banana pudding and it's so DELICIOUS!! Thank you, AB!

I’m impressed AB! One thing just about everybody gets wrong with banana pudding is using banana flavored pudding…and you didn’t 🙌. Even folks in the south (I’m from the south) make that mistake. Kudos to this and from scratch vanilla pudding man. Man I want some now 😆

Its not a mistake if that's what you prefer. some people want more of that Banana flavor and for one reason is because they dont like bananas,Of course it probably wouldnt be SOUTHERN banana pudding....it's YOUR banana pudding

Since this is in a fairly deep dish, definitely needs a layer of bananas on the bottom layer of vanilla wafers and maybe even one in the middle.

I wouldn’t want soup pudding. So I’d Definitely have to have a couple layers of wafers and bananas . That way you can get a vanilla wafer & some banana in every bite… 🤤

That's a real 💯 Southern Banana Pudding! 🍌 I'm from Texas, and that looks good! I just layer the bananas and nilla wafers evenly. And sometimes I fold the whip topping into the pudding for a lighter texture.

Personally I like to bake it with bananas in it. It gives it a much stronger banana flavor. I use a much different recipe than him though. The original nilla wafer banana pudding is great! His looks good too though.

I will try your recipe for the fam. My mom always made hers with sugar and flour, evaoparated milk or whole milk, eggs and vanilla flavoring to make the pudding. For the topping she made a meringue with egg whites and sugar.

I’ve made this twice and from now on, I will always use this recipe. My own little tweek is instead of four tsp vanilla flavor I put three and one tsp banana flavor and a few drops yellow food coloring. Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

Good video fam! I'm from Birmingham, AL and my mom use to make banana pudding where it was cooked in the oven. Hello, I'm new to your channel. I'm so happy I ran across it!! Once upon a time I loved cooking... I'm not really sure what event or sequence of events took it out of me but I'm getting back to it. I had a 'from scratch' receipt that I used because I don't really like the box pudding but I can't remember my receipt. Thank you for yours. It's simple and easy to follow. Banana pudding is my son's favorite dessert, now I can make it for him more often.

I love a good ole "cookie pudding" myself. I talked my aunt into letting people cut up their own 🍌 as they desire. Why? Because I don't like brown bananas. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I almost forgot my corn starch and realized I didn’t add it in after it wasn’t getting thick lol, I added it last and it still came out perfect. I would have been so mad at myself lol my family is depending on me tomorrow for this banana pudding 😂

@@TheKaydacap lol I attempted to make it earlier today and let it sit in the fridge for 5 hours and it was still liquid . I figured I didn’t heat it up long enough. I Just reheated it and added another tbsp of corn starch until a boil and it started to thicken.

Hey it's Carol , from Ohio. ( Gibson) I've been following u for awhile. And I love your recipes I've made quite a few of them. They are wonderful. Today I made your crockpot Cajun chicken with sausage. It was GREAT. it turned out wonderful. I plan on making a lot more. Now I have a lot of different things to cook

I haven't had pudding like this since I was kid back in the 70's as my mom made her pudding this way. Sadly, she passed away in 1996 & I haven't had it like this since or ever. So I'll give it a whirl. Looks so good. I'm new to your channel & a new subby. Beautiful video and daughter has a pretty smile. Take care....
