intheblues have 4 likes from the skydog crowd already -woooee for us both. Really enjoy your reviews. I just sold my Blues Jr tweed this week because I couldn’t get ‘that’ Duane sound ....tttttt ... o well, but I just purchased a second hand Marshall SL 5 which is nice. The other month I bought a DSL 20 but sold that for the fender tweed which seemed to have a richer valve edge over it. I describe it as having a little more of a vital sound to it, but then the Jr seemed a little too ‘bright’, so went for the SL5 which I was/am quite satisfied with, until I saw you video 😆 now I must have a Peacock. 🙄 Thanks again my friend.

As a southerner I’m glad you featured some southern rock. I think I take for granted how much of the style is ingrained in me and my playing. I was lucky enough to catch the Allman’s a couple of times and I’ve seen Derek Trucks bands 6 or 7 times and the Tedeski Trucks band twice. I even met Derek before a show once in Charlotte, NC and had my picture taken with him. Southern rock is truly unique and a blessing. Thanks Shane!

@@gregrome6842 if you get a Blues Jr. Look for one with either a hemp speaker (like the Humbolt), or a Celestion. Rolling Stone magazine named Duane Allman the second best guitarist ever behind Jimmy Hendrix. Personally I thought Duane was a more skilled and a more creative guitarist and musician then Jimmy. Eric Clapton was astounded by Duane’s playing and of course were great friends. To me Allman spoke amazing poetry and language in his playing. Many think he was the greatest guitarist ever, which of course is very subjective, but I wouldn’t disagree.

There are few players who've inspired a cottage industry of manufacturing different pieces of gear to get a piece of their sound as much as Duane Allman. I repaired guitars for twenty years, and have been building and servicing amps for 15. The guitar shop was small, the were only two of us there from l full-time and one part-time, but we were distributors for a bunch of boutique pickup makers. We were selling Fralin when I got there, then a year later we carried Lollars, Sheptones…It seems like every company that does PAFs use Duane Allmans Darkburst as their benchmark. Some, like Jim Wagner actually have two different ones: the original set from the Eat a peach era, and a second hotter set that sounds like his PAFs after he had them rewound (the sound from Live at the Fillmore).

Damn Shane! This is one of the very best low-medium gain overdrive pedals I've heard to date and I've played and heard literally 50-75 different overdrive pedals over the past 30 plus years of playing! This pedal hits the sweetspots for guitarist Duane Allman and Dickey Betts like no other overdrive pedal I've heard! Now hears where it really get's "GOOD"! Missing Link Audio is only 2 hours and 17 minutes from my house where I live in Anniston,Alabama! I will definitely be making a trip to Pendergrass,GA to check out their "Awesome" PAF style Humbucker pickups and the "Peacock Germanium Overdrive" pedal very soon! You need to get a set of the Missing Link Audio Bonnie Blues set of PAF Humbuckers for your Tokai or your Gibson LP if you still have it! I have been waiting for over 5 months for Gibson to get some more of the LP Special's in T.V. Yellow with the P-90's out to the stores! I don't know what's going on but for some reason Gibson hasn't shipped any of these to any of the Gibson Dealers for 5 months now! I heard your two lengthy video demo's of this awesome $1599 Gibson LP Special T.V.Yellow and I am foaming at the bits to get one of these in my hand to go along with my Gibson Historic Reissue R7 Goldtop LP in a lefty! Shane hats off to you buddy for turning me onto the GIBSON LP SPECIAL T.V. YELLOW and now this very SPECIAL overdrive pedal from Missing Link Audio! I just heard a guy that lives in Kentucky demo a set of the MLA "Bonnie Blue" PAF Humbuckers and holy shazam did they sound absolutely "Killer" in every regard and the price is even more impressive on them at $249 for a set of them! That's a game changer price when you consider that Sheptone's,Throbaks and to many to name of the other boutique PAF Pickup builders sets run in that $399-550 price range and some even higher! Great demo as always Shane! Take care! Keep on sharing all the new gear that you get with all of us other LEFTY's! :-) Sincerely, Mac Baker

I just bought one and could not be more disappointed. I can see how it would work if you were using it to push an amp that was already breaking up, but to use it as a standalone crunch into a true clean amp, it sucks. It has the same annoying clean sound mixed with the distortion like pedals such as TubeScreamers etc use. If you want the true “amp in a box” to give your fender twin a Marshall crunch, look elsewhere! $200 is a lot to spend on a pedal that you don’t know this up front!

A four week wait and around $370 to land this pedal in Australia. At $200 I wouldn't hesitate but at nearly twice that much probably out of my comfort zone. Very nice pedal though in both what it can do and how it looks.

Shane ...what's up, I know your not a slide player but I heard you dabble hear in there ...great sounding pedal ...take a chance an do somthin with slide add a lick or 2 with slide ...I played slide for over a decade ...play in side the pentatonic boxes an chord shapes ...what throws most beginners an novice players from slide is every guitarist that is known for slide has melodic slurs that make them unique...an regular guitar is the opposite...follow the circle of fiths rule an apply it to slide....nice tones shane..👌👍🤘

The pedal is missing a big part of the Allman’s sound which was Dickey Betts distinctive tone. Think “Jessica” and “Ramblin’ Man”. I guess getting both tone in one pedal is too big of an ask.

Duane died in 1971 - neither of those songs even existed when he was in the band. Besides that he's probably as well or even better known for his work as a session player between 1968 -1971.

I notice you're playing left handed. Do they make a model for right handed players too?

Did you play drums at all before you bought that set? If not was it hard to get a simple groove going or did you have a easy time of it?
