Are you from LA? Back in 90s very early 2000s some HS would perform just like HSBC bands. Crenshaw and my HS Locke would mainly perform in the high step style. Sadly that style has passed into memory in LA.

Big Nasty had NOTHING TO DO WITH SOUTHERN . SOUTHERN BAND HAS ALWAYS BEEN A WELL KNOWN BAD Ass BAND When Dr.Gregg was Band Director it WAS REAL FIRE 🔥 THESE ARE DANCING KITTENS😀 .THEY CANT PREFORM LIKE THE OGs. Check out the band and the Dolls of the 70s . SOUTHERN U did Soul and R B Jazz . That song is Calli Mex. They should have played. a song made by someone or Group from Louisiana. Sorry I've. Seen way better.

Ah, some of us know! I was at the Rose Parade and the crowd was LOVING this band. I'm an a L.A. native who loves the culture and music of Louisiana, the Bayou, and NOLA. There are many of us that DO get it, we're not all wannabe actors and reality TV stars! Thanks to SU for making the trip out. One of the highlights of the Parade, imo.

Bâton Rouge native, and I'm a filmmaker majoring in Astrophysics. The people of any given place will be way more diverse than the stereotype suggests. I give huge props to LA for the incredible film industry and academic excellency the city has. Truly something I aspire towards creating something here.

That's because the people in LA don't buck dance. All of that is reserved below the Mason Dixon Line. I'm from LA and now live in the South for work(Charlotte, NC). I never saw this until I moved down here. That's just the way it is. We don't have any HBCU's in LA.

My brother played in Southern's band years ago. I got the chance to see them perform at the Bayou Classic several times and went whenever I could during my time living in Baton Rouge. They are worth seeing at any time!!! 👀👀👍👍👍😁😁😁

I'm a Rattler and a former member of the '100. This was impressive when you factor in that there were no yard markers for reference to keep the lines straight and ensure spacing. This must have taken a lot of practice and time The dance squad was precision personified. Outstanding! I support all HBCUs.

So no one....i mean NO ONE is going to say anything about how the Drum Major, Trevon Cezar gave a salute to LeBron (by doing Lebron's celebratory move he does when he scores) on his entrance, or how he threw the roses during the Tournament of Roses show? Dude actually puts a lot of thought into his movements and people sleeping on just how dope he really is. He's one of the most innovative DMs I've seen come from SU in a long time.

I guess you get sentimental in your 30s because I’m up in here crying tears of joy. I love my school. I wish I could’ve supported them in Cali. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for them and I’m so happy for them. Go SU 💛💙

That crowd is wack. next trip you guys need to come to New Mexico the crowd will be lit ASF because we will recognize the talent. The whole band is sick every single part of it is sick and not to mention putting down your instrument getting down pick it back up and start playing again that's some athleticism. and the dolls are way better than the Laker Girls.

I watch these because I competed in the military drill and ceremony which is the same commands and formations. As well as being a cheerleader in high school, it brings back memories. High Schools use to have have marching bands now its just college level almost. But it brings back memories.

This was awesome! Southern University’s Human Jukebox has masterfully brought a taste of the HBCU experience to the west coast. This is a really good look for all HBCUs. 👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
