Bama State sounds great early on again. Stronger than last year’s first game for sure! I could only imagine if they were Southern’s size here. Their sound is mighty as is.🔥

Bama State and Alabama A&M size declined when Stillman, Miles, and Talladega all formed bands. The state of Alabama has more Black universities than any other state. Louisiana only has Southern and Grambling.

@@Super_NoHero Boy shut up. Size is no excuse, size is the reality. We all know if ASU was Southern’s size here they would’ve overpowered them folks effortlessly. If you close your mouth and read to comprehend not to respond, you’ll realize that’s what we’re saying. The *quality* execution and writing level of their arrangers is already there, they just need the numbers in upper brass to execute additional parts perfectly and make their section more prominent (since their low brass is dominant) in order for them to sound as balanced as Southern does this early in the season. They will obviously get stronger as the season progresses but numbers in these sections would undoubtedly make them more prominent and allow the arrangers to write more complex parts too.

@@TimKGrimes They're just bottom, but there are some middle sounds between the high brass and bass of the tubas that sounds hella good. Like an orchestra. Their piccolos have been COLD for the past couple of years now.

I don't know if it's the size or what, but SU sounds different. Sounds good, but the band don't have that traditional sound. ASU is going to be the band to watch this year. ASU has been MIA for the past six years and I do believe this is the biggest they've been in a long time.

💯 Bama State low brass sounds great. I kept asking why SU bones didn't get up to play fanfares instead of getting bullied. They are no match for ASU trombones! 🥶 Most definitely a great game. Would be nice to see them more for LDC.
