OK, we start off with a LOUD train in the beginning...just so you're forewarned to turn the volume down. Then we'll explore a big antique store in Asheboro, NC. Hope you like it!

See, I hate when they take advantage of people. $38 for what they coined "mid-century wall art" I got that thing from Marshalls about 7 years ago (exact wall art) and paid about $18. 2012 ain't vintage.

I still have this when nearing the biggest crossing in my city, I always hope a train is nearing it when I am cycling towards it, which is what I had as a child as well (most of the times, when me and my brother were guessing there would be a train passing, while my parents were driving up to one in their car and we both agreed there would, it actually would and we were freaked out just as well :) ). For me personally, I think it helps if you are a parent (I am not, to be clear) because it makes you aware of all the little things that make children happy after (maybe) a reasonably long time of adulthood that made you go out of touch with those kind of things. For me, people that are still in touch with their inner child are way more interesting than superserious adults.

Oh my gosh !! I'm stunned that there's no pedestrian barriers, fences or boom gates at the train crossing!!! I'm Australian, that's illegal here. Ha, aren't cultural differences fascinating ?! Wow. I never would've guessed it'd be so different.

ThatSoundsLovely we have those. But not on certain roads. For some roads we just have the lights. They are starting to upgrade more and if theres a bunch of accidents on one road they will put barriers :/ but other than that most of the barriers on only on back roads.
@Dutch3DMaster
@Dutch3DMaster 5 жыл бұрын
Some freight lines running out of industrial plants or switching yards for freight traffic in my country (The Netherlands) do not have them as well, they rely on the lights (and sometimes bells as well) and the relatively slow speed compared to passenger trains in The Netherlands (and there might just be a railyard worker walking next to the train to signal people to take five for a moment, or yell at idiots still crossing). The fact is that the frequency of freight trains is so incredibly low there (and the highest frequency might just be at night when regular road traffic is low since that is also the time the rail network is mostly empty of passenger trains) it would be overkill to install a complete crossing. Some crossings also run right through intersections where the traffic lights for road users (all directions, or only the directions that cross the crossing) will probably stick to showing a red signal when the crossing is activated untill deactivation.

I NEED one of the powder blue "retro" phones you found for my vintage phone collection!! I still need a light blue/powder blue, and a pink one. I'll do anything for you if you would go back and buy one, ship it to me (I'm in upstate NY), I will pay you for the total cost of the phone (obviously), plus the shipping, plus an extra $25, or name your price if you want more "finders fee" and purchase/handling fee! I have been looking for a powder blue on and a pink one forever, and have yet to find either color. But those ones in the antique store are as close as I'm going to get for a powder blue color. Name your price! (Also, if you *or anyone else reading this* finds a pink one, I'll pay even more (as long as it's in at least decent to fair condition). I have Paypal and can pay that way.

Yes please do this again sometime. My grandparents lived in New Bern, North Carolina from 1986 to 2001. My family and I would drive down from Maryland to North Carolina to visit them and then go to the beach at Emerald Isle every summer. My grandmother loved to go to antique shops and look around. I like going to antique shops and looking around too. I love antique malls. I could spend all day in them looking around. North Carolina has some good antique stores/malls.

This was nice, it felt like I was little again and while on vacation having to go to an antiques shop or museum as a kid. At first I would be like the regular kid that does not like "old stuff" and starts nagging "I don't want to!" but when we are there eventually my mom or dad sees stuff they used or have seen their parents use and can tell all kinds of interesting stories along with some of the products in the shop or museum and it actually turns out to be quite the cool experience. For me as a Dutch person, the shop was way to organized, the ones I have been to usually are a lot more like "thrown together" (not that they are careless with their products, it's just that they do not combine certain era's of antiques like this.)

Only person I’ve ever seen excited about freight trains coming through. In my town, they’re right in between mine and our sister town. So Sometimes when I’m trying to get to school there’s a freight train coming, cuts everyone off. And they’re LONG. Then sometimes they slow down, stop, and back up when they were halfway through already.

I love all of the gorgeous jewelry in that antique shop and how nicely they have it displayed. You say that jewelry is your weakness. I was at Kohl's today in the jewelry clearance section and a woman next to me wanted me to get out of her way ASAP because she wanted to get out of that department immediately. She said "Oh, I have to get out of here before I buy something, this is dangerous....jewelry is my weakness." Reminded me of you! Do you ever shop at Kohls? Maybe you could do a video in there with the clearance or regular priced jewelry? Or anything else in the store, for that matter. Just a thought. Thanks for all of your videos that you put so much work into, your imaginative mind, your funny and kind personality, your wisdom and for bringing all of us along on your journeys and adventures!
