Many of us Pacific coast anglers use conventional/baitcast rigs. Whether trolling with downriggers, drift fishing, or pitching jigs for salmon and steelhead in the PacNW, or fly lining sardines for tuna and yellowtail in SoCal and Mexico. Lots of power and smooth casting 1-10oz lures and jugs. Think Daiwa Lexa 300 and 400HD reels. I use Lexa 300HD for salmon and steelhead. The 400HD is game-changing for 10-50lb tuna and yellowtail. A tuna reel you can palm in your hand. They take practice to cast well.

That bait caster looks like it’s made for saltwater fishing since it only has one larger handle. They have started becoming more popular for saltwater fishing.

@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel I’m all about the near shore saltwater fishing. Pimped out a 1648 side console Jon boat with fresh paint, aluminum decks, 80 lb Minn Kota Terrova with spot lock and lithium battery. Out there every weekend in Crystal River Florida. Love the videos!

Piscifun's quality control is something else to desire. I know i have shipped back many different products they have. This is like buying a walmart brand product. But hey if your happy with it good for you. This will not mean i will stop watching your vids, love yours and Capt. Dan's vids.

Which product did you have issues with? I haven't had an issue with any of the Reels. Any reel from walmart would have already been seized up after the amount of saltwater I spill on my reels and these reels are still as smooth as out of the box.

Heiko, you should cover the terminals of the battery in the boat. If anything contacts them you’re in for a bad day. You or someone else can get a really bad burn or the battery will catch fire. I saw it happen on a kayak and it caught fire & melted.

Had to add this. Tighten the TV drag when fishing structure to land more fish. By hand on spool lip or tensioner. Just a thought. Love the videos, Heiko. Keep the awesome content flowing.

Hey Mon, I have the same line spooler by Piscifun. The nut at the top creates tension while you're spooling the line on your reel. Once you have the tension setting correct, you won't have the line biting into itself on the spool. I wish Piscifun would make a spooler that can handle bulk spools. That's mostly what I get. You should try the ponzu soy sauce next time you do sashimi. You might like it 🤙 Fungus

I've done this so many times with live shrimp catching small snappers and grunts but there are BIG ones there too... net yourself some live pilchards and do the exact same thing using live (or dead fresh) pilchards and the bigger fish will take notice. You're welcome in advance.

Hey hieko , been a sub since 1.4k I think, grew up in ohio and for bass and freshwater I grew up using an ultra light and " Mr.Crappie " brand 4lb and 6lb for my pb large mouth 9.8lbs, 9lb steelhead, and fish ohio 17lb channel cat. Best brand small line because you can cast a mile! Little to know memory aswell and no leader. But you've inspired me to pick up from ohio and move down to Florida near clearwater and it's the best decision I've ever made! Good luck on your adventure and hopefully get to fish with ya one day 🍻

Maybe somebody said it already, but hold the line spoiler vertical when you use it to spool spinning reels. I have one of those tools and it seems to spin the spool the easiest that way. Just my unsolicited advice.

I'm 66+ years old now, I'm saving my strenuous activity to maintaining and driving my Max Wedge 1963 Plymouth Savoy and racing at the NSS venues from this point forward. I have a 2001 Action Craft 1820SE for my inshore and back country adventures.

I'm exactly the same way, right handed but all my reels are lefty. We're the weird ones I've been told that's for sure! but I never understood why everyone fishes their spinning reels with the handle on the left hand side but then switches to the handle on the right side with their conventional reels why wouldn't you want them all the same? I actually got used to this tournament bass fishing It was more optimal to use a lefty baitcaster reel when flipping in case you got a bite as soon as the bait hit the water. You can engage the spool without having to switch hands. Fish on!

I was a brand rep/pro staff for Piscifun a few years ago. All I’ll say is you’re doing yourself a disservice by associating yourself with arguably the worst quality control reels I’ve ever held. Hopefully they’ve made a MASSIVE improvement since then.
