It's crazy that I found ANOTHER refugee boat washed up in the Florida Keys while fishing.
So many crazy things happen on this trip in Key Largo... All I wanted to do was go fishing on my jon boat and film a catch clean cook episode for my youtube subscribers 😘
I show you how to catch mangrove snapper. I show you my bait and fishing rigs to catch fish.

Trim those flowers on your basil plant or they will turn bitter, look up how to trim it correctly and it will branch into 2 stems every time and eventually you will be left with a thick basil bush!

For what it's worth, I've been digging the new videos. Totally understand being on a johnboat after being on the giant fishing yachts isn't as comfortable but it's definitely more relatable for most of us. It's cool to see ya persevere over mechanical issues. Do hope ya get your big boat going again. It's always good to see ya out on that. Just don't stop doing the little stuff. Also, it's fun to see how pumped ya get when ya catch some fish. Never gets old.

Just a quick thing. Get a piece of weed eater line about foot long keep in boat if the water stops flowing works great to clean the tube out we've done that for years.

Love your snapper video. Try hooking the shrimp in the body then bury the hook in the head. Mangrove snapper in most cases eat a shrimp head fish thus hooking the shrimp in the head results in more hook ups. Give it a try, you’ll like the results. And yes fresh basil makes all the difference in the world. If you are interested I’ll send you a shrimp on the grill recipe that includes using fresh basil. It’s one of my favorite recipes for grilling shrimp, scallops & lobster.

Heiko, GREAT VID, up until you listened to G.R. , and wrapping the Beautiful Mango in PLASTIC. The basil is to hide the plastic taste. The best way to poach or steam any fish is using parchment paper, "en papillote", season with anything from your herb garden, sea salt, butter and white wine. Wrap the parchment around the fish, folding the sides as you go. Add the wine just as you are ready to make your last few folds. Maybe try a piccata sometime. Keep the GREAT content coming!

Awesome video, I had a 14-foot x 6ft wide jon boat, 15hp Evinrude, and a bimini top from Amazon. Some of the best fishing times I've ever had. Very peaceful and relaxing. I have 19' center console now, but I sure miss my jon boat. Enjoy my friend.

mangrove snapper and trout are my favorite inshore fish, any mangos that are under 20in I would for sure keep the skin on whether frying or searing , it adds a whole new dimension of flavor since mangos retain their moisture nicely.

Try using a pressure washer to scale your fish. (Against the scales)Just adjust the nozzle so it doesn’t tear the meat. Hold your fish by the tail and spray!👍🏻

Heiko, loved the video, one of my favorites. The poached mangrove recipe looks great, check out some sous vide recipes for fish, basically the same idea as poaching. I'm from Pensacola and black snapper as we call them only have to be 10" here. Keep it up with the backcountry and exploring vids. Love it Tight lines and screaming drags!

What I learned from tautog fishing is you don't set the hook on a circle hook let them swim away and reel. When you use a jay you set that hook. Try off set hooks

Bruh...we stopped at this bait shop on a road trip once to use the bathroom and pick up some shrimp before heading to Pennekamp to catch a few wimpy snappers (that we released of course). Ended up feeding half our shrimp to a hungry sting ray. If we knew you were nearby we should have hit you up to go fishing. We might've actually caught something good with your help.😂😂😂 Great to see how you've grown the channel and love these new adventures on your jon boat :)

P.S. You should start trimming your basil plant from the top. The bottom leaves of the plant are its powerhouse, so if you trim it from there, it will weaken the plant. When you trim your basil plant at the top instead, it will create two new branches for every branch cut kind of like the Greek Hydra lol. So you will get more basil produced over time trimming from the top (and a healthier plant). :)

Drop down a size or two on your hook! Remember to size your hook to your bait, and not necessarily the fish your after! You will be amazed at what you can catch on a #1 size hook!
