I am French and I am happy for England. Even if you didn't win the World Cup, you guys have won the most important thing : The love of your national team. After the disaster of the 2010 WC, french people were ashamed. We had immature and spoilt children in our team. But When Deschamps arrived, the first thing he did was to create a real family. He put order in the national team. He sent away some players for the greater good of the team. And since the 2014 WC, the love for our players grew more and more. And then, we made an Euro Final and we won the 2018 WC. Everyone worked for the team, the players knew what the meaning of the Blue Jersey was. The players knew that they fight not only for themselves but also for a country, for their people. So, what i'm saying is that, wining back your people's love is a only the first step but also the most important one.

people in the comments have to be missing the point on purpose. yes, it's true England had a bit of an easy run and that they finished 4th or wherever, but that's not what Copa90 is talking about. The video is about how England fans were actually excited about the national team for once, how they were actually optimistic and positive instead of moaning and bitching like we've been seeing for the past decade (at least) It was amazing watching an entire country fall back in love with their national team.

We need to stop expecting to win every tournament and celebrate victories as they come. This summer was amazing. The team played with more passion and integrity than ever and I enjoyed every minute. I'm more proud of this team than I could have ever imagined. Roll on 2020 ❤

The team won the most important prize in football, the fan's hearts. I don't think I'll top that summer, living week to week in pubs, watching big screens with my mates and dreaming about the possibility of the impossible. Granted in the big scheme of things we had an easy run and when we faced tough opposition, we crumbled, but is it a coincidence that since then we beat both Croatia and Spain? I still don't think we are anywhere near the levels of France, Belgium and Brazil but to get the nations love back in the team is a huge stepping stone for Southgate's side.

Gareth Southgate is a GREAT leading man for a big national team like England. No animosity from his playing days, not a lot of baggage elsewhere and very, very savvy with the media and relations. I'm American and my expectations from our teams are lower but international competition is more than just silverware. Feeling good about your team and being excited when they take the field is always something special. Winning is nice but I think there are things of greater importance for a national team. England in 2018 felt more alive and thriving than previous campaigns. Far superior to the dumpster fire that is US Soccer right now.

I was in my FA Level 1 course 14 days before the World Cup started. I remember our instructor told, England is going atleast till the semis this year. We were like how? She told that the entire attitude has changed and we have a young team. Probably not the most talented, but definitely well gelled.

It's true that England didn't face that many good teams in Russia but that's not their fault. The FA had no control over the WC draw, it was just pure luck that England were drawn into one of the easy groups. Regardless, Southgate has done a great job turning England into a great team. So much work still has to be done before the Three Lions are one of the top teams in world football.

England beat Panama, Tunisia and Sweden and it is treated as an incredible year. In the easiest path ever in the world cup they were incapable of beating any decent opposition, 3 defeats in 7 games and no significant quality football yet it is treated as an incredible success. England won't go anywhere with this level of expectations. They did the bare minimum considering the rivals and are treated as heroes.

I'm proud of the team. Why do y'all need to tell people that they shouldn't be happy about something. Let the fans be happy and get carried away and have fun. After all the years of complete disappointment, now having some belief, winning a penalty shootout and seeing all these fans come together this summer was something special. There is literally no reason to shit on the team, fans, or southgate. They made people happy, why wouldn't you support that?

southgate knew the team was strong on set pieces and exploited that to full advantage (even looking to sports like basketball for ideas on how to maximise the potential for goals on free kicks, corners etc) he demonstrated a level of squad knowledge that id expect from managers like pep and klopp and while im not saying hes anywhere near those guys he deserves a lot of credit

I can only speak from my perspective. The English need to get a grip and understand they are not the biggest footballing nation. It has been over 20 years since England last reached the semifinals of a major tournament. Southgate set the team up well and they played great football, Kane, Sterling and others showed that they can be big time players. You have done brilliantly in the LoN and have gotten to basically play two major semis in a year. Southgate finally has the approach Robson and Venables had of being a man of the people. Not like Keegan, Sven, McLaren, Capello, Roy, etc... A bit of positivity wouldnt hurt.

Let’s be realistic. They didn’t have any difficult opponents in the World Cup (other than Belgium, who they lost to twice). Even when they played Colombia James Rodriguez was out and we squeezed through on Pens. Let’s not forget they lost to Croatia who were handled by France in the final.

Not to bash england, but they didnt play well any match as far as I remember (except the Panama one) and I believe I watch all of them. They got an easy path by loosing against Belgium. It might seem like hate but is not, also I believe something similar about Croatia and going 4-1 down in the final match 60 minute, kind of prove that.

A decent performance in the World Cup but nothing special. They were extremely lucky with their group and knock out teams......and still no final. Not to mention the heavy dependency on Harry Kane. Look, I’m Irish, our national team is utterly disgraceful but I know appraisal when appraisal is due. And it’s not here. Maanit Mehta Belgium won their group, winning all their games, came back from 2-0 down to knock Japan out, smashed Brazil, got knocked out by the eventual winners and then finished by winning the third place play off, their highest ever finish at a World Cup. England beat Panama, Tunisia, Sweden and a decent Colombia who were missing their best player

Guys its time to stoooop! Stop praising Englands 2018 WC cos guess what, u win nothing, none, zero... You reached 4th place by defeating only weaker sides... I know and I respect that this national team brought a lot of people together and made people fall in love again with the national team, but there were lots of more memorable stories within last WC. Jeez u not at the centre of the world... Getting smashed by Coatia or Belgium was the way for Karma to say stop to this "iTs COmInG HoMe!"shit.
