My husband has been a company driver for 33 years. He has worked for some crap companies that didn't pay well and wouldn't get him home and then he has worked for good companies. The company he works for now he makes good money, we have good benefits, he gets monthly bonuses, he gets retention bonus, he gets referral bonuses , profit sharing, and much more. He gets guarantee pay. Do it depends on the company you work for as to whether you make money. He can come home when he wants days off, he also gets 3 weeks paid vacation this year. He has been with the company 10 years.

Now think about this ? Go look into owning and driving a MINI Wheelers Dump Truck . Right now in Florida a load of dirt costs $185 to $250 per 16 to 20 yards. And your not driving more than 20 to 30 miles per load. If you get a deal hauling asphalt you might get a bit more per load ? Bottom line if you're smart and do your homework you can make more per week hauling dirt . And your home every day !

Okay here's my rant 20 -25 years 1000 a day for owner operator today people say same thing but every cost has gone up and guys lost there trucks all the time back then, Big companies tell goverment we don't have enough drivers which is true because guys like me wont do it anymore for the shit pay and putting your self in a job were you could end up in a bad situation as far as acidents tickets fatilties the roads are scary now days, they really have put alot of untrained drivers out there that dont know nothing about the truck they drive or understand the common sense of driving down the road
