What if when Kanye said “slavery was a choice” God was using that as foreshadowing his salvation. “Being free in Jesus Christ or being a slave of sin is a choice.”
@jasminemartin69984 жыл бұрын
Willslate4food agree 1,000%! I’m a black woman whose heart bleeds for my peoples history of oppression, but technically, spiritually and actually, we choose to stay in bondage, out of fear or as a means to protect/preserve ones life. Whatever the reason, technically....that makes it a choice. We could have also chosen death (to all die) in an act of resisting/rebelling against injustice. But this perspective has take true maturity and spiritual discernment. And as much as I am a front line soldier for the black community....the statement “slavery was a choice” is no longer offensive, but a deep and scary (more than partially true) truth.
@AtxMamasita4 жыл бұрын
YES!!!! this...
@Ziggi3334 жыл бұрын
Just saw this podcast so I am late to the conversation. Please allow me to say that slavery has never been a choice and will never be anyone’s choice. You stated they could have chosen to all die. Then you, me and Kanyè would not be here. BUT God had other ideas! He gave the them a will, a strength and a Faith to survive and yes I will say it ToThrive! Without God’s Loving Kindness none of us would be here. I truly pray that Kanye’s conversion is real and that He humbles himself and sit down to be taught by doctrinally strong pastors who can help him mature in the faith, because it’s not a sprint it’s a journey with the Lord Jesus. There are disciplines that come from God that must be taught, learned and then put into practice to be a ‘mature’ person in the Faith. That is my prayer for us all. God Bless You.

Just a quick challenge for you brothers.. I love all of these podcasts and I look forward to them every week and they bring me life and strength at times. That being said, when you say that your critique of Trump is endless and that you have endless bad things to say about him, did you have the same view on Obama? I am not a Trump supporter in any way, but if you're so outspoken against trump and MAGA, were you as outspoken against Obama and his support of abortion and other obviously anti-biblical views? When you think about Trump and Obama, does the same amount of animosity come up in your mind? The point of this is that where I struggled with CHH in the 2015-recent years is that as a white male, is this music portrayed by people who are God first or race first? I say this at the expense of sounding insensitive, but we are children of God BEFORE we are children of our culture. Lecrae and others seemed (From the outside) to get to a point before where the primary focus was not on winning souls to Jesus but rather to push a movement. I am encouraged by what KB said that a lot of what Lecrae said back then was not what he actually felt or believed it just came across wrong. That being said there came a point in 2015 or so where I wondered if this music was even for me anymore. Lecrae and others used to push me towards Jesus and over time they started to push me towards getting hyped and sounding cool and being political. The world has a lot of problems and I know I know I know 100% that race is an issue and that systemic racism exists and has as long as this country has and before... however, hasn't the answer to all things always be to point people to Jesus? Yes we should speak out when we see injustice, but even our speaking out should have the end goal to point people to Jesus not to prove somebody wrong or push our agenda. I could talk about this all day and I wish I could sit down with you KB and just express how some of this has felt from the perspective of a Christian white 23 year old male who has been DRASTICALLY impacted by Christian Hip Hop. I am aware that I have my own misconceptions and lies that I believe as well but I still feel like we all have something different to offer, a different perspective. I am very encouraged by your music KB both past and present and I believe that you are taking a real stand in a way that others are not. I just wish you could hear my perspective as a white young male who is deeply involved with a family that is iconic as one of the main leaders of the "Christian republican movement." I spend each day trying to navigate how to impact those people while not being like them and not pushing that same agenda that they push. At the same time I feel a responsibility to speak out and I am just struggling to do so. I feel in a similar place to you when Lecrae was taking the genre in a direction that you didn't really agree with but didn't know what to do. I hope that some day I can talk with you about this because I really respect your opinion and you are one of the believers that I look up to the most in the world and one of the only ones I feel will be able to truly understand.

Thank you so much for your comment because I believe the same thing! How can we be so hard on Trump, and yet be okay with Obama? If Jesus is our culture, how can we separate the two from one another? If we do, we are just as hypocritical as the world, and that is where satan stands. In confusion and separations of the church. . The Bible tells us to NOT be of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Thank you so much for speaking on this. I hope to see you on the show to talk about it!!

My first podcast that I’ve listened to and wow just wow. You guys are awesome. I love how God is the center. I didn’t vote this past election because I didn’t feel comfortable voting for either candidate. I get flack from people for that decision. In past churches I belonged to I felt pressured or swayed to vote for a candidate. My current church which is a multicultural church with a white pastor no politics are ever brought up. We are aligning ourselves with the kingdom rather than a particular party and praying for the leaders. I don’t know that I will vote this year because once again I don’t feel comfortable with either party. I don’t feel comfortable voting for less of the two evils as people say. I will get flack for that. But this video has encouraged me to no longer hide in the shadows or allow people to make assumption of me. We are in a pandemic and we must learn the lessons God is trying to teach us. This a second chance for all of us to get it right.

Brothers, I am a basketball skill coach, I love all kind of music, but my basketball gym is a place for hip hop, for rap...but truth must be said..there were season and kind of still is, when it's was hard to find music that explicit preaching and can affect a lost souls (my clients). So yeah "Jesus is King" helps a lot to evangelize ...yeah I know Kanye it's not a regular case tho... When he was like God spits bars kinda like a double entendres: Some theologians call that “The Law Of Double Reference” It is when a physical entity is being addressed as well as an invisible entity. Classic example is when Jesus said to Peter; Satan get thee behind me. Ezekiel 28 has much of that too, Genesis 3:15 too etc.

Guys... not sure if you'll read this but wow, really appreciate and enjoy this conversation. Assume I'd disagree with a lot of your social/political views but I (we) should not allow our race or political views define us or be placed in front of our relationship with Christ. Galatians 6:14, "May I never boast except in the cross of Christ... the world has been crucified to me and I to the world." We should be defined by out relationship with Christ. You all are brothers in Christ with the same Holy Spirit I have in me. Not "black" brothers and I'm not a "white" brother, just brothers in Christ. Galatians 3: 28 "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Satan is using politics and today's culture as a way to divide brothers/sisters in Christ; as your brother if you feel strongly about something I need to support, encourage and love you. That doesn't mean we'll always agree but if I view it through a political lens then I'm really missing the mark. If we as brothers in Christ can't love each other, how in the heck are we going to love the world and win souls for Christ? Keep up the good work fellas!!

Great episode, guys! ‘Jesus Is King’ is a mixed blessing. Kanye’s love for God has inspired some of the happiest and freest music I’ve ever heard from him. He’s become “hip-hop’s prodigal son” in a way. However, most of these songs feel unfinished. He’s a new believer, so let’s give him time to build up to his next classic album.
