Filming the latest video was a good excuse to travel around the Gobi Desert and clamber around some of the abandoned Soviet apartments - here's a quick compilation of unused footage from Mongolia's Red Legacy!

Nice!! I remember one of my history teachers from my community college years saying, quite falsely, that Mongolia was a Soviet Socialist Republic and was thus an actual part of the old USSR. Now, I can actually see why he'd say that.

I enjoyed the "official" Soviet Mongolia video. This "extra" makes me feel like I own the DVD.🤓 Mongolia's landscape is amazing! Thanks for your videos; they are extremely educational.

I know this isn’t related to the topic of the video per se, but since you’ve said that you’ve studied Korean and specifically, the northern dialect, maybe you could make a video about the differences between the Korean spoken in the south and the north in greater detail (pronunciation, grammar, orthography etc.). There’s information online but a lot of it seems to be contradictory and/or limited so it’d be interesting to know how they compare in actuality.

Oh that would be cool From what I’ve read, apparently the northern dialect just uses older words Korean words for things

Hello Benjamin, i'm an International Relations Student from Indonesia. I really enjoyed your content, i love history especially around the Cold War, and learning it was part of my political studies for my major. Your channel is a safe place and a knowladge haven for me, and for those who seek knowledge as it is. In my humble opinion, your contribution on this topic is among the most well explained and detailed. I earn you much gratitute. My first video on your channel that i watched is about the Panmunjom. I have rewatched it for 10 times over. The music, etc really made it much more interesting to watch. Also, thank you very much for providing a music channel dedicated to the tracks you played in the videos in a seperate channel.

This video makes me think how nice it would be to have coverage of places of interest in (officially) socialist countries from a standpoint of "this thing/location is historically or scientifically interesting regardless of the politics around it, and here's its story", sort of like a Tom Scott but for the non-Western world-not to bash the guy, I love his work, but he does tend to stay in the NATO sphere of influence. May be beyond your scope at the moment, but it would be a direction I would be excited to see if it sounds fun to you!
