When it comes to dollar to effectiveness, this is the best gun ever designed. It is so cheap to make. So easy to make. And yet, Reliably gets the job done.

This SMG is very simple and cheap. It's also very easy to use and very easy to produce. It was made by teenagers and women jn soviet factories, including factories in Leningrad under the siege

Great weapon. The PPS-43 was a simplier war time version of the PPSH-41. Far better than many people think. Very controlable.

Love the russian weapon aesthetic look, very practical looking imo.

In a lot of slow-mo footage of WWII SMGs (forgotten weapons) you can see the bolt hits the back of the gun with quite a lot of force after each shot, in this gun the spring is able to absorb all the energy, I think this is a really good thing for controllability, great engineering indeed.

The Soviet built PPS-43 submachine gun is absolutely wonderful and amazing fire arms.

I have read somewhere in past research that if the Germans could get their hands on one, they preferred these to the MP-40.

This automatic machine is invented by the designer Sudayev in besieged Leningrad. Sudayev has been recognized as the outstanding designer, and his automatic machine the best automatic machine of the Red Army during war. After war he continued to work on the automatic machine and participated in a competition together with Kalashnikov. His project was considered as the most perspective, however he couldn't finish it as he has died in 1946. If it didn't happen, Kalashnikov could proigat and now Sudayev's submachine gun AS-44 would be considered as a legend, but not joint stock company.

Very simple and easy to use. Combat effective.

It's amazing that the bolt handle slows down and comes to a stop just a smidge before slamming into the back of the slot in the receiver. The bolt actually seems to cycle surprisingly smoothly! It's a minor detail but I'm sure that contributes to how controllable this thing is.

From Poland with love... We, really do great guns, when needed. Please note - polish made "Commie time" firearms are one of best, if not the best on market. In peacetime, with skilled people, resources and proper knowledge - warmachine became new ID and quality. Larry, I strongly belive this SMG was and still is unbeatable regarding cost/ simplicity/ effectivness on a battle field. Still in use, still in private possession (legal). Greatings! Carry on!

Looked like most of the bolt firing cycles weren't hitting max travel like the "constant recoil" system on the Ultimax 100 where the bolt is stopped by spring pressure and doesn't slam into the back of the receiver or a buffer. I imagine it shot pretty smooth.

Outstanding! Best slow-motion I've seen so far! That thing stays surprisingly level I thought, looks very controllable. Maybe this takes experience? Seems like something that would sell a lot, at a fair price. Maybe the best thing anyone ever made from seven pounds of sheet steel.

The PPs 43 is in my eyes the pure essence of a submachine gun. You can't produce a submachine gun in a simpler and function-oriented way. A submachine gun showing the origin of the besieged Leningrad. No grams of "fat" on the gun. And the 7.62 × 25 mm Tokarew M1930 is a remarkably powerful ammunition whose stop effect is not so great. But she does not have to, because a wounded soldier ties up more resources than a dead soldier.

If beauty could be found in utility, this is it. I saw Ian disassemble this gun. It's really simple and clever in design, with certain parts doing multiple things. Also it is more of a pressed metal than stamped. Would love to shoot one, and own one or a variant someday.

My father had one in his collection since I was a little kid. Fun to handle and shoot! Unfortunately, during one overseas move in the late '60's (Army) it was confiscated by customs in Central America. Hated to lose that one.

With that 8 inch barrel velocities must be at least 1800-1900 fps. Quite the little hornets nest.

Far from being best SMGs there is in term of accuracy and handling, but this is definitely the best combination of production cost, battlefield efficiency and reliability of all WW2 SMGs. Just check any channel that focused on gun insides- engineering solutions in this gun are jaw drop brilliand. If i recall correctly it only uses 3 springs and 2 pins in the whole construction. And its production cost is less than a half of a ppsh-41.

One important thing -- the PPS magazine was a double-feed. That meant more reliable feeding with way less FTFds, especially comparing to double-stack, but single-feed magazines for such SMGs of the same era as MP-38/40; STEN, Thompson and so on.

Wow looked like the only recoil it produced was just from the bolt moving back and forth. Very controllable and shoots a high pressure bottle neck round 👌👍

The PPS was made to arm guys more quickly than the PPSh and to time to make them was half
