Space Engineers - Space Survival - Ep15 - Building an Atmo Miner for the Alien Planet!

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the fifteenth episode of this semi-hardcore survival series, in this episode I continue to modify the Prometheus and install some more Jump Drive's, once that is completed I make a start on an Atmo Miner to take to the Alien Planet and get our hands on some precious Uranium!.

Something I try and do is when I finish a build that might help you with revisions: I'll make a finished blueprint and print 2 copies, and I'll remove the armor/hull from one and make a blueprint of the functional blocks, then on the second I'll remove the functional blocks and blueprint the armor/hull - this helps me make internal changes then overlay and print the body back onto it - Or when repairing damage I can stage the usage of the blueprints to verify the functional blocks actually got built before covering them over with the hull blueprint [Many times have I repaired armor and missed a functional block under it that was still damaged]

you know with the batteries in the middle of the ship, you could have turned them on the side and had 4 in an off set circle, and then had the small conveyor going up the middle, also, moving the O2/H2 to the back of the cockpit would have given you another 2 blocks worth of space, meaning you would have had 12 in the middle of the ship, 1 being used by the conveyor converter, and that leaves 11 , the batteries would take up 3 as you would turn then to their side, and moved them into a corner, so you could of had 3 layers of 4 batteries, that's 12 batteries, with 2 spaces left over for you to put thrusters in for sideways thrust, that's 4 in each direction, could up it to 6 but i think that would mess with your outer shell design too much. Just some ideas, I think what i will do is when you have put this on the workshop, i will adjust it and repost with a Mk 2, so you can easily find it and have a look, might make it easier to show you what i mean rather than trying to type it. words are hard. I for one would have put an atmo-ring or half-ring around the Avalanche that it can connect/dock to for atmosphere use.

Put some beacon lights and large area lights on the ship so you can see. This game looks really fun and challenging at the same time. Love it.

Enjoying your videos. But can you please pressurize the big ship? It just doesn’t feel like an actual ship, more like a glorified space wheel chair. And please, for the love of god, give the respawn pod ship some love. And finally, put some lights on your connectors (docking ports)!

I have thought about making it air tight, but I think I would have to change too much of the design to make it possible and it would look very weird, I suppose I could just use a cockpit 🤔

I still think you might want to consider building a static welding wall and use a small ship with a projector to do the printing. That way, you don't have to mess around with pistons.

@@TheGarageGamer86 Well, either method has disadvantages as well as advantages, and you should do whatever you're comfortable with. I was thinking, your Midas line of ships is very compact and efficient. You should absolutely keep iterating on this "pepper grinder" type ship, but I wonder if there's anything you can learn from the Midas line that you can use in these new ones? Not saying there is, it just occurred to me that there might be.

Blueprint every iteration of all your ships. These can be used as advanced designs for newbs to work with. They can teach people about what works and what needs to be modified for specific uses. (In space... no one can hear you work.) But we can see. 😁 PS: I hope they expand the galaxy for this game. more systems and, even, galaxies. This is how star citizen should have evolved.

great vids ...just 2 words Industrial Cockpit... so you can look out in front and not be confused with movement.

It really would be ideal for that location!! 😎✌️Although, I think I might just install a camera in that direction because I am using the conveyor system of that cockpit to move the ore up to the ejectors at the top of the ship, I'm not sure if I'd be able to do that with the industrial one 🤔

in the advanced options there is a option that makes thrusters dont do damage

You can just build the usual miner. Because we know how hard it is in alien planet. There is no progress at all. Rather than showing how to build and mistakes, focus more on the adventure. This should be compacted for just 10minutes and 50 minutes hardship in alien planet. And have to wait 1 week for the next episode that'll be done in just 2-3 hours of gaming time. If you posted everyday it's acceptable for this kind of episodes. But it'll take whole week just to readjust ship rather than exploring alien planet.

You are totally frustrating,, you know that??? If you can’t place 32 baby thrusters,, then just ditch the idea . Take your plunger miner and scrap it. It was junk anyways. Rebuild your idea around large atmospheric thrusters and actually get some actual use out of the new redesigned ship, this would allow you to be able to place like 24 batteries 🔋 on it and like. 8 large cargo containers , 😂😢😅😊

To be honest I didn't really want to spend another 2 episodes designing a totally new miner, I mean yeah I agree it would be better but I thought it would be quicker to re-use this one. Although in the end I'm not sure how much quicker it was 🤔.
