Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to the channel, and welcome to the very first episode of my Wasteland survival series, in this first episode I will be giving you guys an introduction to the new planet released in the latest update - Pertam.
I will be showing you guys how to get started on the new planet, including how to find different types of ores. And just some general survival tips, and how to get started in the game, including the settings for this world and all the mods I will be using. I've also enabled progression in this save, so we will work with that as well. I'll also be converting the drop pod into a simple ship and fly to a new location to setup my base.
I hope you enjoy the video, if you did, please give it a thumbs up and make sure to subscribe for episode 2!
Thanks 😁👌

Shift+mmb adds all the components needed in your build planner to the production queue. It’s a little painful watching you queue up parts. For anyone new Space Engineers: Build Planner When you open the inventory in the middle, there are 4 icons, when you hover over them it shows the hotkeys. To add things to build planner: With welder in hand on unwelded block, press MMB to add missing parts to build planner. To withdraw/deposit components: Look at a conveyor port so it's highlighted. Alt + MMB = Deposit all Ore/Components MMB = Withdraw and update Build Planner SHIFT + MMB = Adds items in Build Planner to Production Queue CTRL + ALT + MMB = Withdraw and keep Build Planner CTRL + MMB = Withdraw 10x and keep Build Planner CTRL + SHIFT + MMB = Add Build Planner to Production and keep Build Planner. In the G menu you can see your Build Planner in the bottom right of the screen.

Your wind turbines are fine. They use a 8 point ray tracing algorithm around the axis of the shaft going out 5 blocks, and 1 ray towards gravity at 8 blocks. This means if you build a tower 8 high, and build a plus shape, and put the turbines horizontal you get an advantage, because 2 of the rays go towards gravity. The game uses 7 unblocked rays out of all 9 total to qualify as _Optimal._ It also means you can build up 2 blocks, repeat the plus shape, and stick 1 turbine on top, for 9 to a tower, all optimal and very compact. In your case, turbines are more than 5 blocks apart. Max output varies on atmosphere, oxygen, and wind speed conditions, and changes dynamically, not just when you place blocks or obstructions. When you're in a storm, that number usually exceeds 600kw.

That is the most comprehensive description of the mechanics of wind turbines I have ever seen, thankyou!! :D :D

@jarrod752
@jarrod752 Жыл бұрын
@@ttvnotabot1199 The short answer is, as long as you have 5 large blocks of clearance on 7/9 sides (8 around the axis, 1 in the direction of gravity,) you are optimal. The second part is, build up 8 blocks, then build a plus, and 4 horizontal turbines. Then build up 1 more block, and then build another plus on top of that, with 4 more turbines, and 1 more block, and 1 turbine on the top. All 9 turbines should be optimal.

"Need thrusters in all direction" - lrn2lean Plus, you can make the pod airworthy entirely from components you have on board. Timer, beacon, antenna, H thruster, chute hatch, conveyor pipe, one landing gear, and one steel plate from anywhere. Enough to build an RC and a gyro (to functional). No need for an actual cockpit. You can even keep all of your atmo thrusters, or move one of them to whatever other direction you want. Maybe even two of them, if you're feeling particularly brave on Pertam and don't need to fly in the higher altitudes to avoid terrain.

Love the videos. Your builds are top notch and inspiring. From my experience the decoy method barley works if at all. I was at least 20 blocks below ground and the lightning still killed me. So. I kept the weather but run the no lightning damage mod. It’s freaking stupid to be killed so far below ground. Now I am on to watching more of your videos.
@TheGarageGamer86
@TheGarageGamer86 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have thought about disabling the lightning myself, as no matter what I do it seems to be directly targeting my character, even when I have a decoy right next to me. When they first released lightning it was nowhere near that bad, I've even tried disabling my characters antenna and it doesn't seem to do much 🙃😅. Thanks for watching!! 😁

Everyone loves this valley mainly because so many Gold, Silver and Ice all around the valley. Also, nothing works against lightning now. It targets the player and will destroy everything in its path. So, when lightning is about to start, I just go and hide in a nearby cave, that usually keeps the base safe. Highly recommend the no lightning damage mod for anyone trying now.

I have to re-visit lightning again, I heard that decoy blocks only work if they are not underneath voxels, but rather above the voxels and at the highest point.

There's also no efficiency penalty for blocks placed directly above (relative to) the turbine. Pretty handy when you have multiple pylons with turbines mounted laterally from the main mast.

@TheGarageGamer86

Spent 3 hours trying to work out voicemeeter, and some other VST plugins to attempt to have a software noise gate. Suffice to say, it was an utter frustrating failure. All I got was echoes from voicemeeter, I could hear my clicks twice every time. At this point I just don't care about the keyboard or mouse clicks and I'm ready to throw in the towel of this entire channel. I'm done. I've spent hundreds of dollars on the equipment I have and its still not good enough.

I think it would be easier if I used OBS, but I've always had issues where it doesn't record, or it taxes my CPU to an insane degree, or the quality is just bad. But with OBS you can install a gate plugin no worries. I wish radeon relive had that ability.

Yo what's the point of having 5x inventory when block inventory is realistic?
@TheGarageGamer86
@TheGarageGamer86 3 жыл бұрын
I just hate having to go back to a cargo container a million times to weld up some blocks by hand 😂. Then if I make the block inventory size higher I feel like it makes large cargo containers a bit silly, like you can store 5M kg in one container at 5x inventory size for blocks. To build a ship to lift that amount of weight it needs massive amounts of thrust, and especially on this planet. I also like having multiple cargo container around my bases and ships because I think it looks better too 😁👌
