1. The Falcon's Cloudstrike requires infantry that come out to also be placed outside of 9" of any enemy models and can't move after disembarking (Reinforcements core rule), so the Banshees would have failed the charge on T1. Mind you, there's still a way to get a guaranteed 9" charge but this would involve Fate dice + the Ghostwalk psychic power. 2. The Kurnous' Bow/Mark of the Incomparable Hunter combo just does mortals, you don't roll for the saves for the shuriken shots. Additionally, if you roll to wound and don't get sixes, it's just one mortal wound each (Mark of the Incomparable Hunter doesn't trigger). 3. Banshee Exarch Mirrorsword combo has 10 attacks, not 8. Conversely, they only get Fight Last on the charge (Jain Zar gets Fight Last whether or not she charged, so that's probably why this was a mistake). 4. Fire Prisms ignores hit modifiers if they equip Crystal Targeting Matrices, but when bracketed they change their BS, so the injured one would still hit on 5s. Normally I wouldn't comment on rules mistakes but they would have had a big impact on the game and it's sad to see the 13th get hurt so much =( Eldar is a very finnicky army so not surprised that some of these would happen.

I've only played 2 editions of 40k, Rogue Trader & Ninth Edition I must say I'm looking forward to the smoother game play I think Tenth will bring, after a day at work Ninth is too complicated.

Incredible paintwork on the eldar vehicles. Particularly the falcon, such rich blue.

I love the paint job on the storm hawks. The black edge highlights with slight chipping makes them look like they’ve flown straight out of the pages of a comic. Really tempted to try that on a vyper i have lying next to me to see how it looks in person.

Stormshield terminators with -1 AP guns would’ve still had 2+ saves due to stormshield. Not to mention half of them had cover behind the building. You would’ve needed AP -3 to get them to 3+ saves using the terminators in cover. Also you forgot Devastator Doctrine when shooting the D-Guns - they wouldn’t have had any save vs AP-4 Lascannon

Great report as always. Old school marines are the best. Really like all the info we are getting on 10th. Only problem is that I stopped playing 9th a month ago and I miss playing. So might do one last 9th game before the big release of Xth.

Really cool back and forth and certainly an eye candy of a game from the terrain setup all the way to the army paintworks. Yeah, there were some hickups rules-wise, but that didn't diminish the batrep's value in the slightest imo

After playing a lot of 9th, seeing how they have tried to fix a complex game with over complex changes, I’m very happy with 10th. The “leaks” are okay for me. It helps hype up the great changes they are making. 10th release has inspired a lot of my friends to build other armies that seem to be very fun to play in 10th.

As a new player I’m excited for 10th as it seems prime for newbie to start getting into the game. I understand the scepticism from older players and the hangover from 9th but I think overtime it will begin to make sense and will be better

Regarding 10th, I feel it is a shame that GW hasn't addressed the turn sequence to something other than I-Go-U-Go. The brick of Terminators lumbering down the middle of the table look so cool... well, they did look cool for a brief moment 😬 What a brutal slaughter; and a great table top.

I feel that 10th is a mixed bag. Space Marines losing a lot of sub factions and not requiring troops is going to be a feel bad. I hear people talk of elite spam in the new edition and that makes me sad. It’s saddening because the one problem I have with HH is that elite spam is a problem and basic troops are useless. They can sometimes punch up, but an Imperial Fist player with 2+ saves and 3+ inv just feels a tad annoying. However, the simplification is looking good. Hate looking through my codex for like 5-20 minutes looking for a rule I know I have but I need an exact wording of what it does. Personally, I’m probably going to drop 40K as my main game in favor of HH and other games. Tho as I say that I am currently painting up my Tau and Death Guard armies and planning out the rest of my Grey Knights army.

very nice game as always, looking forward to 10th ed and not having to search though page, after page, after page, after page, after page, after page, of rules, datasheets and stratagems. could be wrong but I get the feeling you are treating the guardians as having a 5+ save when they have 4+ will have to see if you catch that later on in the game.

This was a tough watch cos of the Eldar players constant rule mistakes - but otherwise enjoyable batrep with the classic Winters charm and quality

Absolutely can't wait for 10th. Just listening to you reel off "Bolters with -2AP" and then a ton of stratagems to do this that and the other. It's nauseating. 10th can't come quick enough.

Eldar dude really needs to read the weapon profiles, got the Shuri Cats wrong consistently as well as the Bright Lance. Kinda ruined the Bat Rep for me, and I play Eldar!

Tenth gets benefit of the doubt from me until I've actually played it! Less customisation might be a bit sad, but also might reduce cheese spam a bit as you can't pick and stack abilities as much. Shorter and easier games is a big plus (for as long as it lasts - I remember the start of 8th fondly!). I like the 'everything on datasheets', but weapon keywords goes against that because those rules aren't on the sheet, right? Anyway, suck it and see.

I am looking forward to 10th. I did like the stratgems in 9th, however,there were too many of them. The changes to transports and streamlining weapons in 10th looks great! I am hoping further detachments (?) for marines differentiate the various chapters.

Excited for 10th myself, 9th edition is a crazy mess of lethality. You can't play with any models you own and no one gets to do cool things because the second you expose anything on the table it's hit by a billion S50 AP-50 D50 shots with full re-rolls from everywhere, mortal wound spammed and dies. 10th is looking a lot nicer with less up-front lethality and more specialised units, tank killers look like they're good at killing vehicles now, there's more nuance with a higher T variable stat and the insane strength values actually aren't as crazy as they sound once you look at them logically for all of 2 seconds and don't just kneejerk into "new thing bad." Everyone getting a refresh right away is also a good choice. Overall, excited, happy to wave goodbye to the shitshow that is 9th.

Pretty sure I'm going to keep playing ninth edition. I haven't like much of what I've seen of tenth. I feel like they may have gone too far in "dumbing it down" for new players that it's going to leave the existing player base wanting more.

I remain completely unconvinced by 10th. There are almost no changes to core rules and losing the psychic phase and adding a very complicated battle shock phase doesn't seem like a step toward simplicity. Also rolling will be a pain with the critical wound, critical hit rules all over the place. The only thing simplified is the flavour.

Playing with thousand sons I’m kind of sad about the changes for 10th, because from what we’ve seen so far it seems like their magic diversity will be stripped from them😢 hoping for the best thought

I’m excited for 10th. I like the changes and the reset. I play 1k sons and I like no psychic phase it streamlines the game. Right now there are armies with single builds or there’s no sense fielding. Data sheets are awesome and this game needs to be driven by casual play because that will build player base. You need to have it simple to start and accessible. This doesn’t hurt the meta min max crowd or is meant to offend. So back off the vitriol toward me. A game with streamlined rules and easier to enter will make players. Players build and expand the game.

I think they are dumbing down the game too much. The loss of any sort of psychic phase and especially the removal of choice that was there is a massive let down. I also play 30k and literally have more choice there in regards to psykers then I will in 10th

10th is a utter flop. GW takes out all the good stuff rom WH. The diversity of armys. Its already since 5th gone. See OG imperial army or any army. Every army the same in organization as SM. And now they take the army building to once again please the cry crouwd and the lowest common nominators. I am very, very disappointed. Will not support GW on simplifying WH. They killed all that is good in WH. Old world in fantasy that was crass contrast to 40k and got age of sh mar out. That is 40k/lotr clone. Its a nightmare. Change is good but not all change is good. This is utter IP murder. GW goes the way of Disney and how the butcherd Star wars. I wish and work towards GW failure. They need to crash and burn to learn there lesson.

Since you asked: 10th will be just fine for veterans, if a bit 'arcady'. Combiweapons just becoming one profile is a bad direction, that's TOO simple. 10th will be much more unbalanced and pigeonholed for newcomers and a worse experience than 9th. The focus on matched/competitive needs to turn the other way and go back to scenarios and wargaming instead of meta, not because that's what I prefer, but because newcomers especially don't understand that they're playing a story and treat it like a video game. This is terrible for the game and the setting. The focus on "more people better" needs to stop, there's no inherent value to just mashing in as many people as possible - 40k is already losing its identity, primaris were a mistake, taking the story *backwards* to primarchs has fundamentally damaged the setting and made it something else. That about sums it up.

I know 9th has its issues but 10th just looks boring, and frankly just crap. I am not a fan of what GW are doing, I'm thinking of not playing 40k any more.
