This is a On-Ride POV of Space Mountain Roller Coaster (Alpha side) at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. Video includes a Front Seat Night Vision POV in HD.
Space Mountain is an indoor outer space-themed steel roller coaster at the Magic Kingdom theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. It opened on January 15, 1975 and is the original version of the iconic attraction that is included in five of the Disney theme parks worldwide, with the exception of Shanghai as that park has TRON: Lightcycle Run. With the closure of Cypress Gardens in 2009, Space Mountain is the oldest operating roller coaster in the state of Florida.
Space Mountain was closed for refurbishment on April 19, 2009. The newly updated version of the attraction was officially re-opened to the public on November 22, 2009.

The whole family got on this ride thinking it would be a slow one that would project a science related documentary because those were the ones that we had previously gotten on, but as I was walking in I read a sign that said pregnant women shouldn’t get on the ride so I became skeptical. Mind you I was only 8 at the time, so we got on and the ride took off and we started S C R E A M I N G

MrCowboys1235 They probably hate it because they've rode both the Disneyland version and the Disney World version. The Disneyland version is much more advanced than this one with much smoother turns and a much faster speed. So they probably rode the one in Disneyland before they rode the one in Disney world. Also, another reason could be that this is the same style of track as the Matterhorn in Disneyland, which is a ride that was made long before this one. But it is not the old style track that is the problem, it is the fact that (once again) the Matterhorn has a lot more smoother turns and faster speed than Space Mountain Disney World. So basically the main consensus is that most people who have only been to Disney World will probably really like this ride. But anyone who has been to Disneyland first and then went to Disney world probably says that the ride sucks. EDIT:Okay, nevermind about Matterhorn being faster than Space Mountain DW. I did some research and Space Mountain DW goes 28 mph while Matterhorn only goes 27 mph. So even with a slightly slower speed, people still seem to like Matterhorn better, probably because of the smoother turns. But Space Mountain DL still goesl a lot faster than Space Mountain DW with a smooth speed of 35 mph.

Nicholas Leavitt - I have ridden both coasters within the past two years at Disneyland and WDW. The Space Mountain at Disneyland wins hands down. It has better effects and is just an overall better ride. They should totally redo the one at WDW to be like the one in CA.

McKayla Binns Space Mountain is often seen as this scary ride but it’s the most fun ride in Magic Kingdom. You need to ride it when you go! Edit: Also, the best time to go to Space Mountain is in the morning. You can usually just walk in and ride instantly. If not you’ll be waiting a long time!

Went on this for the first time at the age of 40. Absolutely loved it, especially the aesthetics and atmosphere, which reminded me of a lot of space themed computer games and films I'd experienced in the 80s. I'd imagine if I were a kid, I would feel like I was embarking on a mission to save the earth. The coaster itself isn't spectacular, but the imagery really sells it well.

As a coaster enthusiast that's been to Cedar Point several times, this is still a top 10 for me. The ride layout itself may not be interesting, but this is one of those rare occasions where the theming IS the ride. It also has the best queue in the world. It's like one of the only rides where I WANT to wait 30 mins to ride and not walk on.

I don't think the lights were working when I went. It was completely black like in the video. I don't even remember the "warpgate" tunnel or anything else at the start, but this would explain the exceptionally slow start to the ride. Basically, this ride manages to break down all the time. I was exceptionally bored on it.

I went on this ride 7 years ago. In my memory there were way more lightning tunnels. I remembered as an euphoric experience. Either my memory is bad or this video is.

It's not your memory. The video can't help it though. A camera has a limited view and part of what makes this ride great is that you are surrounded with cool effects. There's stars in the ride that you can't see. Plus since a lot of it is dark the camera didn't pick up on a lot of stuff.

It's been nearly 30 years since I last rode Space Mountain; all those special effects barely disguise the fact that it's really just a glorified family coaster --made at a time when Magic Mountain was just starting to come into its own, thanks to the Revolution and Colossus roller coasters.

I first went on this last summer (summer 2014), and I was quite scared. But just as we finished going up the space station bit my dad turned round and said "don't worry,this is a brilliant ride" and just before the main bit of the ride started... the lights turned on. It was really cool to see what space mountain looks like in the light.

This ride is so much freaking fun! I just got back from Disney on Monday and this ride was the best at Magic Kingdom. I can’t compare it to other rides from the other parks because each park had great rides. But this ride is definitely the best at Magic Kingdom!

Space mountain was the first roller coaster I ever rode.......I was SCARED TO DEATH......But it was the most funnest time of my life.....I don't have a fear of roller coasters anymore......My mom was on the very front of the ride and she said she was never going on it again....But I was behind her....My brother convinced me to go on...This isn't a joke...When I was standing in line I was almost popping in my pants especially on the ride😂😂😂I rode the ride with my hands over my ears and my legs so tight so I didn't poop😂😂😂😂But I have to admit it was the best time of my life!!!!!!😂😂😂

about 40 years ago my mum went on this she was around 7 and there wasn't much safety precausions so she could sit on her dad's lap she also went on it with her mum and her grandma......it put her off rollercoasters....she was screaming to her dad the whole time 'DAD!!!!!!!!!!!' ya we're gonna go on it though, we gonna start a tradition.....our kids will go on it as well so all generations of our family go on it

the ride that started it all in the 'dark coaster' genre. and it was a success because during the 80s and 90s, pretty much all themeparks in the UK and Europe had their 'space mountain clones'

Funny story about this ride. I went to Disney last summer with a close family friend. We had no idea what Space Mountain was but decided to ride it. Well, after waiting for about an hour, we finally got close enough to the loading station to really look at what it was. When we realized this was a fast, spin-turning rollercoaster, we started to get second thoughts but decided, hey it’s Disney, it’ll be fine. We got on the ride and a s soon as it started, we knew it was NOT ok and started screaming. At one point I yelled at our family friend if she was ok and she didn’t respond. That whole time on the ride, I wasn’t actually scared of it itself, but whether or no our family friend passed out. Anyways, it was fun and I am definitely gonna ride it again when I go back😊

Space mountain scared the crap out of me...lol. I'm 40, I still remember. My mom and childhood friend said it doesn't go fast....LIES!!! I was afraid to get sick on the ride, I just wanted to be over...lol

Space Mountain - a favorite Disney World ride. Another favorite: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. You get the feeling on that rock mountain coaster ride, that a rock will fall, right in front of you. It has a coaster track, with dips, and sharp turns, like Space Mountain does.

when i went to magic kingdom, me and my family saw this ride but we weren't sure how it went or if it would be too much for my younger sister (shes 10) so we saw the beginning of this video and she liked it so then we went on it. I liked it.... she cried and my mom got mad at me for no reason lol

That is like my second favourite ride of the whole Disney world! I love how it goes so fast and has some drops! We went on twice, and the ride took our picture, and in both pictures I was smiling😂😂😂😂

Ok, at this point in time, i had a fear of spacce for some reason: my sister asks me to go. She wants me to experience it because it can help with a science project I was doing a few days before the trip. She says the ride is super slow and helps you learn about space. After, I say that I couldn't see anything, and she says that's what space is like. I got a D on that project.

My dad thought it was just some slow ride and when it started he covered my eyes. There was nothing to see. Keep in mind I was 10 years old. When the ride ended he was like “Never Again”

I rode this three times last time I went (first timer) and I noticed something. the first two times, i actually did not like it. It was too dark and too fast. Mind you, I love dark rides and i love fast rides, but the fact that this was both, did not sit well on me. you cannot see the turns, so when the unexpected turn comes, you hit your head or twist your neck a bit, so when its done, you end up sore. BUT, the third time, there were some dim lights on the front that allowed me to see the turns and it ended up being one of my favorite rides in disney world.

Fabiana Soto I remember going there in my early teens in 1984. I was very disappointed in the ride itself as I thought one would see stars, planets, nebula, etc. etc. and the walk up to the ride was neat, but then the actual ride itself it was just dark with nothing to see. I was like, good grief I could experience this on ANY roller coaster by just shutting my eyes.

I watched a video with lights on experience and they said the top speed is only 27 mph, so it really doesn’t go that fast as a lot do. The fact that it’s dark and they add extra wind, is what adds the magic and makes it feel like you’re going 65 mph. I did enjoy it though when I went.

The fun part about this is that it’s mysterious!! Like it’s all Pitch Black. You don’t know when the flip your going left or right or down!! Omg! Like I screamed the way through because it was fun!! Plus the scariest and fun part is when it goes up a hill then it drops straight down and it gives you amazing Ejector airtime and at Good scream. Definitely gonna ride this when I go to Disney in 2019.
