No joke, all of these solo Dan episodes are actually immensely therapeutic for me. The games are quiet, Dan is calm and enjoying walking us through this era of gaming and his childhood. It's just so feel good

Its been 4 years and I still have Danny playing Space quest 1,2, and 3 in a repeating Playlist, downloaded for offline play, to help me sleep. His voice is so soothing and just relaxing, no soundeffects (not enough to warrant any attention), just his voice. This man is a saint

I get a little sad when i hear danny trying to defend his choice to play this game. every time you play one of these games you bring a little bit more of you onto the show. This is something you are passionate about and it shows and adds to its charm. I personally love watching these videos because of that reason. Cause its heartbreaking seeing you take so much pleasure in playing and talking about this game only to stop yourself to try and explain your reason for playing it. I love how hes worried that we wont like him playing these games alone - but in fact theyre one of the best things here. The game is nicely silent mostly and dans voice is calm and smooth, perfect to just listen to.

Danny, you really should consider doing this as a regular series, maybe once a month or so. This is way more relaxing than most other game grumps episodes (not that I don't like them, but sometimes you want something chill without a bunch of yelling and laughing), and gaming could really use a Bob Ross figure

That makes it a bit easier to navigate. - Yes, Scott Murphy officially apologized for the glass shard puzzle. In fact, he did that on a Hangout I hosted back in 2012 when the SpaceVenture Kickstarter was still going. You can even "give coupon to bartender" and he'll give you 3 buckazoids and a free beer. - Speaking of beers, I noticed you were carrying your 3rd beer with you all the way to the end of the game. This is the most zen let's play I've seen. Love everything about this, especially when Danny gives unbridled "Wheeeee"s and "Yeeeeah"s when he figures something out. Hoping he continues with these Space Quest/King's Quest playthroughs.

Danny won't ever read this, but I think it's so sweet he spent that time years ago wondering how Space Quest was going to do with the lovelies, and here I am constantly turning back to it as a source of comfort. When I'm sick, when the baby is driving me nuts, when my fiance and I fight, I come back here and I listen to Dan and we have a chill space time adventure, together.

Just so people get an idea, the processor on a TI-84 Plus is more powerful than a Commodore 64 processor, and this game was made for the Commodore.

I think it's kinda heartwarming that Danny would usually preface these solo Sierra playthroughs by apologizing to the audience for the outdated graphics and gameplay; only for these videos to become some of the most beloved GG content ever. What makes a great playthrough is when the person playing the game genuinely loves the experience and that comes through in the video. It feels like you're there with them playing along. That's why these solo playthroughs are so cherished. We get to hang out with Danny as he relives a piece of his childhood. It's not done for laughs or trying to pander for views; it's just a very chill playthrough coming from a place of love. More Game Grumps content should use this template. I know for myself, I'd much rather see Danny or even Arin playing games they actually have a personal investment in; rather than whatever fad game they downloaded this week.

Dan, not only was this a wonderful video to watch, but the comments are overwhelmingly more positive than I'd expect from KZfaq. I love all the Grumps and your videos are all good, but this response has got to tell you how much we like this. I think it's the difference in tone (calm and soothing vs ANGRY YELLING) and that you clearly love what you're playing. More like this, please! The end of King's Quest had me really emotional and I'd love to see you play through it as well as the first one.

i know im super late on this but i appreciate these little moments where Dan gets to show what he played growing up or what his interests are. these episodes are a blessing.

I was born in 1977, I grew up with Sierra games. Police quest, Space Quest and King Quest, and LSL when parents weren't home. My dad had LSL1 and I beat it in 6th grade. I love watching these episodes. They take me back.

I'd love to see Dan and whoever play Heroine's Quest one day.

I remember playing this as a kid in the late 90s with my older brother who grew up with these games. We got to the escape pod. He was lightly guiding me and I thought I was ready to go but the game informs me I had forgotten to buckle my seat belt. Kaboom. Ship explodes. Great memories. I'll miss you forever, Eric.

Dan really doesn’t need to worry about the game being old lol, you could probably release this today and it would be “stylized.” Honestly I love the game and dans commentary, used this as a bedtime vid for a while now!

I don't know why but this whole episode is just utterly adorable.

It says so much about Dan that, when confronted by a dickish death message from the developers saying he sucks and blaming him in advance if they don't get a sequel, Dan responds by telling them not to worry and that it all works out for them.

Absolutely do more of these, Danny. I grew up playing Space Quest and King's Quest games with my family. My dad would run the keyboard while my mom, my sister, and I clustered around and made suggestions. Sharing these games with you now is super nostalgic for me.

Watching this for the first time on 8/2/2022, after just having watched todays episode of power washing simulator I happened to notice something interesting. Dan has a moment here (@48:00 ish) where he sorta has doubts that the grumps fanbase will like watching this game and he says the game means a lot to him. In turn I thought about how much I like watching these Sierra game playthroughs and it's largely because of Dan's passion for the games. Today in power washing simulator, Arin said that passion is contagious and that you can make content on whatever you want, and as long as you're passionate about it, you'll find success. Well Dan is a perfect example of that with his Sierra playthroughs which are some of my most fondly remembered series. This also speaks to how good of a match Dan and Arin are as lets play partners. I doubt many people will ever see this, but I just had to share it.

There's actually another way to kill the Orat, which is what I did when I originally played it. If you go into the cave while the Spider Droid is still around, you can hide, and the droid will run into the Orat and self-destruct. I actually never knew about feeding it the can of dehydrated water.
