This video shows an overview of how the car looks before, during and after the spacer install. The parts used in this video are listed below. This applies to 3G TL's which range from 2004 to 2008. Mine is a 2008 TL Type-S with the OEM 17 waffles. Many people on the forums use the same spacer sizes for the A-spec wheels. Most people use 15mm in the front and 20mm in the rear for a flush setup but I did not want to chance it since it can vary depending on how flat or round the sidewalls of your tires are.
Spacers
Front
H&R DRM 15mm 64.1 12x1.5 (3065641)
Rear
H&R DRS 15mm 64.1 12x1.5 Black (3065640SW)
Stud Installer Tool

And yes.... I will lower the car later.

@@dereckgonzalez3239 to tighten the spacers I recommend a torque wrench. Once you have already tighten it by hand or with a regular socket wrench.

Wow super clean Type S! I have an 07 Type-S 6 spd - rare! I just installed H&R sport springs with KYB shocks and the ride is now more planted. I was looking to do spacers as well. How's the handling and ride after the install?
@statuskuogarage7462

Thanks Chris! I didn't feel much of a difference probably since its such a small change in width. The most important thing was that it didn't throw off any balance to the wheels and never felt like it was going to break on me. I've seen too many failures of cheap spacers online to even risk for a more expensive outcome if something happens. I definitely need coilovers to make the ride better.

@@statuskuogarage7462 Thank you for your reply and feedback. Yeah if you aren't lowered I guess you wouldn't feel much of a difference. I guess the best route to go like everyone else is 15mm FR and 20mm RR. Keep up the clean mods!

Status Kuo they sure are! Oh wow yeah this would be hard to find in Texas! I think you found the holy grail though low mile white on black TLS with the 6-speed. You should post more on the car. I have the same car but auto trans and 41k miles. Also it came with the A-Spec body kit??

@@MPowerSubie12 wow nice, thats very low miles. Just make sure you take care of the leather and dash... its known to crack and go bad.. I got it completely stock and added the a spec kit as well as a couple of carbon fiber things.

Status Kuo definitely I’m in the Midwest so dash is very good plus it’s been garaged. But yes I seen how badly then can crack which is pretty annoying. And leather seats are soft for sure luckily it was literally one old man they ever sat inside of it. I think it should fine for my ownership. I like the A-Spec kit but it’s very hard to source now plus all the install holes and hardware ain’t easy. I like it without the kit also it’s already such a bulky body car. But you entered unicorn status with all your specs! That is 1 of 1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like yours. What city in Texas are you in? I was just in Dallas with mine a few months ago lol. Took it on a road trip.

Definitely good to be garage kept. I have my windshield tinted with Llumar air80 and a cover craft uvs100 windshield screen to help hopefully preventing that dredded crack. I already had to deal with it on my G35 3 times and it was garage kept. The kit actually isn't hard to install, just permanent in case you don't like the look anymore but yes its harder to find now. I'm in Houston.

@@jaee1758 I think you should be fine. Didn't have to cut anything for the front so the rears should be fine with the stock wheels. If your wheels aren't stock then I'd check to see if there is any space between the lugs on the wheel.

Is there any benefit to using the DRS over DRM?? Is one safer than the other? I'm looking to do 15 front 20 rear on my car. Stock wheels and stock suspension.
@statuskuogarage7462
@statuskuogarage7462 3 жыл бұрын
I personally just like DRS better because it changes the studs so you only have one mounting point vs bolting on a spacer and then the wheels. With a brand like H&R who's reputable, it's not much of an issue as long as your torque it correctly. DRM is definitely more convenient since you don't have e to remove anything other than the wheels to install them. There is no DRS 20mm for our cars anyways.

@@b3nnyb3nny It's not recommended if it's at the max setting but if it gets it to your specs then you should be good. I torqued mine to 80 ft/lbs just like the wheel torque specs and it's been fine. I checked it several days after too just to make sure

Have 2 sets of the same 15mm on their way. I assume since the stock type s wheels have bolt recession "holes" the spacer fit fine? Since the lug bolts stick a tad farther out then the spacer does..
