I’m literally crying. I was feeling nostalgic and wound up watching the newer version, then was able to find this. What happened to us? Jokes about taxes and talking to you like you’re a five year old? But you listen to this version and it makes you so proud to be a human. You feel a brotherhood with everyone who has ever existed and will ever exist. One with the whole world, and hopeful and striving for the future. You used to enter Epcot like a god.

I agree. I think I’ve only ridden on this ride version once in the mid-2000’s, but I have vivid memories about the communications tunnel and that virtual classroom. I also agree that there is a sense of oneness with humanity and the world that is sorely lacking in the newer version, but also a bit of dread and apprehension about the ambiguity of the future as well beneath the hopefulness of the ending. Lots of emotional nuance, especially with implications of technology and communications being used both for good and for bad. Gives me lots of Studio Ghibli vibes, especially the film, “Castle In The Sky”, which explores similar themes. That’s probably why I like this ride version so much, and appreciate it even more now.

The most depressing part to me is how hopeful this was. In reality humanity went the opposite way-to anti-intellectualism instead of an intelligent and peaceful future. It depresses me a lot

"We now have the ability, and the responsibility, to build new bridges of acceptance and cooperation between us. To create a better world for ourselves and our children, as we continue our amazing journey aboard Spaceship Earth." I just wish that line had been kept. That's a message we so desperately need to be reminded of today.

Love this older version of SE! There's SO much truth to that old saying....."if it aint broke, don't fix it"!! They dramatically "cheapened" the ride adding the little dumb Jetsons style cartoon at the end! The older version and its ending were much more awe inspiring!

I think the internet became too commonplace, and that section of the ride became outdated. But instead of updating that section, they replaced it with a poorly animated, more fictional future that does nothing to make me hopeful about the actual future. It’s a shame I never got to ride the attraction with the final third.

They went over budget but already had ripped out most of the sets so they couldn't just revert back. That's why they just threw a sheet on everything and then came up with the video screen idea. Whatever they originally intended for the ending scenes didn't happen.

Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite rides, even though there's nothing thrilling about it. I just visited Epcot a couple weeks ago, and as with every visit, I rode this multiple times (it helped that the crowd levels were super low; I got to walk on every time). My last major Disney vacation was in 2006, so that was the version I always remembered...but I have to say, the stuff hanging off the ceiling at the end (like that classroom) always made my anxiety go nuts. XD My brain kept saying "Oh god what if the display falls off and crushes you?" and I couldn't fully relax until I felt I'd passed far enough that I was out of danger. LOL I'm really disappointed, though, that they got rid of that entire section and just phoned it in with a screen on the back of the seat. On one hand yeah, it IS kind of fun...the first time. They could easily have just made that part of the after-ride room. But I can't help thinking that if they remade the last part of the ride, it would just be screens of Reddit and KZfaq and Facebook. of people yelling at each other and telling each other how stupid they are. That's essentially what the internet has become, hasn't it? :P Hearing the hopefulness of this narration, before anyone had a CLUE what we'd devolve into, makes me a little sad!

What an epic teardown. If Disney leadership is smart they'll set aside ego and hubris and watch all four hours and learn something. Most probably they'll assign a staffer to digest and summarize into a PowerPoint because exec time is "too valuable" to spend four hours watching a video. I just visited Tokyo DisneySea for the Fantasy Springs opening and the differences are so striking. Imagineering is unleashed there without Disney execs driving the budgets and siphoning from the parks to boost up the streaming money pit.

And why are album 💿 are viewed as one big story? IAMLXGEND 8 months ago It is a cohesive collection of songs used to tell a bigger theme or project an overall vibe. Think of an album as a book. And your songs as chapters. Every book has chapters. Every album has songs. Each chapter is different. Each song is different. But the collection of chapters (the collection of songs) is what tells the full story of the book (of the album). Every song has a story. Some albums are just a collection of songs without the intention of telling the bigger story. Some albums are designed to tell a bigger story. Sequencing might be only about the way the music flows, but if the album tells a story than sequencing can do that too. Nathan Eswine 5 months ago I think artists try to sequence their albums in a way they feel best captures the journey they want a listener to go through. Nowadays, this isn’t as popular... kind of feels like some artists just try to pack single after single back to back for 10-12 songs. But at it’s core, album sequencing can help drive home the main theme of the album. Similar to the chapters of a book 👊🏻. To me, it does still count as one whole story, even if there’s no segue between tracks. I think it’s just an artistic choice to use segues. I think even if the songs start and stop on their own, they can still point back to the big theme of the album 👍. Usually the songs on an album are the result of an artist’s creations during a season of life. This means the songs can all speak to a similar set of themes, ideas and topics. So the aim of an album name is to try and sum up the big story/concept that all the songs pull from when they were written. It’s not always like these, especially today. But traditionally, an album is like a “book” with the songs inside being like “chapters.” Fun stuff! (I think 🤓) .

Judi Dench is alright as a narrator but the material she had to read was puerile compared to the gravitas of the Jeremy Irons script. Jeremy's was the last version I got to see (though I did see the version before that), and having seen the Judi Dench version on KZfaq, I really don't feel I'm missing anything. A real downgrade :( You're also presumably FORCED to have your photo taken. Some of us cannot stand having our photo taken to use in the ridiculous end section! The assumption that everyone loves selfies is incredibly misguided and lazily thought through. Also a tip - put this on on some headphones before you sleep. It's soooo relaxing. The ending sounds almost like you're coming out of a dream.

The imagineers should not mess with anything till they have the plan and the budget to do it...they shortened the ride and added a Steve Jobs scene and called it "reimagined" pffffff

Disney only caters to the low IQ masses these days....hey lets put Guardians of the Galaxy in epcot....who cares whether or not it actually fits with the theming of the park...bigger, badder ,faster is all that matters to disney now.

Why did they change the second half of the ride!? I will never understand. That stupid cartoon thing.

Best version. Will never be topped. I'm curious Siemens would dumb the ride down so much. Im sorry but even with the more computer based story line, the finale STILL WOULD HAVE WORKED TODAY. Dame Dench is a lovely actress but her voice is GRATING compared to Irons. Its lost all sense of wonder. All character is gone.
