I think it's all the gravity getting us all down. And pandemics and what-not. Hopefully landing on the moon again will rekindle some of that sensation that spread throughout the world in the 60s and 70s.

(For those who aren't familiar: the lunar orbiter segment of Chandrayaan-2 has the best camera currently in orbit around the Moon and is still returning good data -- outstanding.) So much awesome space stuff happening, and every year at a faster pace.

Silas Dense More sharing, Back when the restricted area during launch was smaller, I flew a light plane on the southern edge of the restricted area at 25,000’ in a racetrack pattern to watch the launch with 5 of my buddies. Looking down we could the shuttle easily as it was lit by the giant carbon arc lights. When the solids fired, a ring of orange light filled the entire cape area, followed by white light as it lifted off that let us see shadows back to the West all the way to Orlando. Even though the action was considered safe and outside the exclusion area, we had the feeling that we were too close when it flew by us. As well over half of earths atmosphere (density) was below us we could see the solids peel off once spent. We could see the RS-25 burning almost through the entire burn or about 8 min. Listening to the call on the radio while watching the launch, we heard the announcement, “Columbia now crossing the western shore of Africa “ as it cleanly and instantly went out of sight over the horizon. All of the glass in the aircraft was covered in face prints after we landed.

@@elevatorphish Yes, and that camera had been that way for years. I've seen those dead pixels in some of the older tour videos. They aren't actually dead, but stuck in some state and won't change. You can really see them at 9:29

Because the inside of the spacecraft is pressurised, sound needs a medium to travel through which you don't get in space

There is air inside both the ISS and the space craft. They have to breathe! And the air is at near ground-level atmospheric pressure so the density of the air feels normal inside the ISS and space craft. The pressurization means they have to equalize the pressures between the ISS and the space craft before they can open the hatch between the two vessels. Otherwise, the air inside one could rush into the other with potentially harmful results.

They basically crap in a good looking toilet box thing and they just dispose it when it gets full.They pee in a sick looking wire thing that converts it to fresh water.

The crew dragon brought home trash such as poo. Empty food bags etc. When expedition 63 comes home this autumn they will bring home too. Every crew arriving with cargo and they leave with waste aswell. They also have cargo ships incoming with food, oxigen etc. Its a fine circle. They have to do to not swim in waist.
