I was born in Florida in 1981 and I love the connection to Spain, although I don't in my heritage. Florida's history is quite amazing. I hope to visit Spain one day and feel the connection.

When I read the fascinating biographies of men such as Juan Ponce de León, Pánfilo de Narváez, Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, Bernardo de Gálvez, etc. I simply blown away by their courage and audacity. The stories of these men should be known by all.

Ponce de Leon,did not go straight to Florida,!! He was a soldier in la espanola first,,then became governor of Puerto Rico, from PR he left to Florida and on a second stop he was injured by natives with an arrow from there they took him to Cuba where he die days later,, he Rest in la catedral San Jose in San Juan Puerto Rico,pictures of the site are in Google!!?

@@mr.battledroid2195I looked it up supposedly there was a treaty signed by the United States and Spain in 1819 that allowed The USA to occupy the state of Florida till 2055 that’s when the treaty expires and supposedly Spain will legally be given back its Florida territory.

So beautiful. Love the social class based completely on race as well as the numerous plantations, genocidal conquistadors, and stifling economic policies the Spain put on every colony including Florida, except for New Spain. Spain lost this land long ago. But the Southern people who migrated here destroyed our beauty just like they did in Texas. In the end Florida is a place like no other, and we should pride ourselves on both sides of our heritage and our uniqueness

Por si no lo sabias el sistema de castas en el Imperio Español no existía, si eras negro podías ser de la nobleza, militar o lo que quieras ser, las plantaciones fueron muy poco numerosas y no tan crueles como las del Imperio Británico, en los genocidios participaban más indígenas que españoles, pues nuestra estrategia era aliarnos con tribus locales para ayudarnos a conquistar las que no querían venir a nosotros pacíficamente, y por ultimo, las sanciones económicas fueron casi al final y fueron por culpa de los Británicos. Me da igual si eres un estadounidense ignorante que no conoce el español, ahí te dejo el comentario.

There are good and bad ! America has always been a land of opportunity to the opportunists!! Regardless of any existing history! The sad thing is all the people from the failed opportunist are never wanted by the new opportunists, people are always slipping through the cracks of humanity with no one to care or help,because everyone thinks they belong to someone else! There is a new predatory opportunists in America who have made a fortune in the pharmaceutical and prison systems,hospital systems that are forcing psychotropics on any and everybody and actually destroying the mental /physical well-being of the poor , sucking and draining their life force before they destroy them, working together to destroy the current population,then making fun of them on social media and the news! ,We are an eclectic mix of humanity in Florida! Our ancestors are all! I hope we get some good future opportunists, who love the people as much as I do! All the people! There is rich history here and sad history here, old forts and buildings made from coquina, remains of towns wiped out from small pox , incredible earlier infrastructure ideas that worked great ! I love the cool ideas people come up with to take care of each other,shell middens with 500 year old trees on them being bulldozed down for big resorts and condos, sickening and bad business, they would have made way more money leaving the trees and the middens, but our rich history is the eclectic mix of beautiful faces , descendants of all who came before! We help each other during and after the hurricanes and never turn our backs on a neighbor in need, we all know what it’s like to matter to no one! We need good opportunists! Drug dealers would do better growing food, change your ways help us instead of hurting us, we can all do great things together!We love our tourists, and hope and pray for good things to come!
